Paul was the perfect photographer; he knew exactly what we wanted, and we have the photos we had envisioned.

Photographing the elopement of two reserved and somewhat camera shy people might be daunting for some photographers, but Paul knew exactly how to make us feel at ease and take us to some secret parts of the city (Edinburgh), leading to some beautiful and natural images.

What makes Paul's photos special, is the romantic yet timeless quality they have. We've shown the whole album to our families and friends who all gushed at how lovely and "perfect" they were, and how they weren't "the typical cheesy photographs". To top it off, Paul is such an easy going and friendly guy, with good banter and a good sense of humour!

Paul was a treat to work with from our very first meeting. He took time to get to know our vision and was happy to take a documentary-style approach to our wedding, with relatively few set photos and the majority captured candidly. He was professional and discreet during the ceremony, and took a nice balance of pictures of us and our guests. He edited the pictures incredibly well, leaving us an album of photos that are warm, autumnal and decadent. We were most grateful for Paul picturing our wedding only a couple of weeks after the birth of his child!

Paul was wonderful right from the beginning of our planning for our big day. He was communicative and outlined exactly what to expect. He was flexible working with us even though we were in Canada for the whole planning time period. During the day Paul was on time and checked in with us and captured all of the special moments and even the shots I requested. I was able to say something once and even though I may have forgotten as the evening went on Paul made sure to bring all my dreams into reality. We received our sneak peek the day or so after the wedding which was such a treat. The full gallery went beyond my expectations. Paul was able to capture the feel, elegance and comical moments. We had a great experience with Paul from start to finish. We felt awkward at the prospect of the couples photoshoot, but Paul but us so at ease, where we felt and looked so natural in photos. We actually ended up really enjoying the process and it was one of our favourite parts of the day. Our guests really appreciated Paul too. Many of them shared great feedback on his presence in the day and character. And of course his photos were brilliant, the relaxed and real photos we were looking for, which are also just stunning. My husband and I are both not massive photo people and the vibe of our wedding was very chill and relaxed. Paul matched that perfectly! He was calm, patient and great at getting us to relax. My husband and I got married in April, and we had the absolute pleasure of working with Paul Andrews as our wedding photographer. Despite the unexpected and challenging weather conditions on our big day, Paul’s professionalism and talent truly shone through.

Paul was brilliant to work with from our initial discussions, throughout our wedding, and through to receiving our final wedding album. He provided a professional service, on the day he was in the background capturing our special moments but also took time to focus on us as a couple - whether it be giving us a few moments to ourselves during our couples shoot, or suggesting a few shots at sunset. Paul took into consideration the photos we specifically wanted - from capturing moments with family members, highlighting the decor we had designed and prepared ourselves, or even staying on later in the evening to photograph us both as bride and groom playing with bandmates in a mini-pipe band - but also captured moments that passed us both by on the day such as glances between us and family members seeing us for the first time. Paul managed to do it all. He brought a buzz and an energy which kept everyone engaged, but he was also able to fade into the background so that we forgot he was shooting. Myself and my (now) wife eloped during COVID. It was an enormously difficult time for us as it was for many: our family's couldn't be there and other personal matters made it feel as if our little world was so vulnerable.

However, our day was fantastic and Paul was so important to it. Not only did he agree to act as our witness but he made both of us very awkward people feel so relaxed and comfortable despite only knowing us for a matter of minutes. All of our friends and families have described the photos as 'delightfully us', 'sincere', and 'joyful'. They brought tears to our families eyes and still fill us with absolute joy whenever we look at them framed in our home or on the screensaver of every bit of technology we own!!!

He gelled seamlessly into the day. He recognised when we wanted an intimate moment and melted into the background to capture it. Chimed in with the odd comment if we felt a bit awkward being photographed, helping us feel comfortable. And he materialised out of thin air to give us congratulatory hugs after we left the building.

Even writing this review makes me a bit tearful. It was such a wonderful day in the midst of such chaos and I can't think of a single way Paul could have done a better job capturing it.

Paul was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding day. From the get go he was understanding and receptive of our ideas and my vision of the day.
Leading up to it he supported us and made sure we had all the info we needed and chatted to us numerous times to make sure we were all on the same page. On the day he was never noticeable and we look back at the near 800 photos not remembering him being there or sticking out, he had the best sense of humour to match our families and friends and it was a joy to have him with us.
He made sure the shots I’d been discussing with him in the months leading up to it were achieved and added his expertise to make sure ones I’d never have thought of happened also.

We are genuinely so grateful of him and his talents. The photographs mean everything to us.
