01 Sep 2010, Michelle and Rob rated Wakehurst Place

We had searched the internet to find the perfect venue for our special day and although we only wanted a small wedding, the venue still had to be special. We hit the nail on the head when we came upon Wakehurst Place.
Normally planning a wedding can be stressful but Katie Ratcliffe, the Wedding Coordinator made our day run like clockwork. The food and all the table attire was coordinated by Caroline Gorman from Company of Cooks who are the on-site caterers. Our guests all commented on how beautiful the rooms looked and especially how delicious the food was. Our day was topped off by having a harpist, Anna, from Prelude Entertainment, playing our choice of background music throughout the service, drinks reception and wedding breakfast….it was just perfect!
We could not fault our day and even the sun came out for us to have our photographs taken around the grounds. Wakehurst Place is the sister site to Kew Gardens, and as you would expect, the grounds are magnificent.
One thing that dampened our day was that my new husband had been taken ill the week of the wedding. It was touch and go whether he would actually make day but both Katie and Caroline were very understanding and even suggested that, under the circumstances, we could rearrange the day at very short notice should it be necessary. Thankfully, we didn’t have to take up their offer but just knowing that they would be so accommodating was a huge weight off our minds and we can’t thank them enough for that.
We can honestly say, without any question or hesitation, Wakehurst Place, for us, was the perfect setting to get married and we would whole-heartedly recommend it to anyone.
