Calling all 2026 couples! Come and see us on Sunday 17th March, from 12 nooon until 15:00. Enjoy a complimentary glass of prosecco whilst looking around our beautiful venue. Couples attending on the day will receive priority to reserve 2026 dates before they are released later that week. No registration needed!

St Chad’s College is a wedding venue in Durham, England. This charming venue, which sits in the shadow of Durham Cathedral and fronts the medieval North Bailey street, is a place of peaceful serenity, where picture-perfect gardens stretch out to meet the wooded gorge of the mighty and majestic River Wear.
Facilities and Capacity
St Chad’s welcomes couples and their guests during Durham University's Easter and summer vacations. The College is licensed to host civil ceremonies. The glass-roofed Cassidy Quad and the lawned garden can seat 100 ceremony guests; the Senior Common Room is also available for couples planning a more intimate ceremony. Moulsdale Hall, which features tall, arched windows that afford a lovely view of Durham Cathedral, hosts wedding breakfasts for up to 120 guests. Cassidy Quad is also available for use in the evening and hosts after-ceremony celebrations of up to 140 people. The happy couple can also enjoy a complimentary stay in a garden-view or cathedral-view room on the night of their wedding. Competitively-priced overnight accommodation is also available for wedding guests.

St Chad’s hosts one wedding per day. The venue's staff is committed to providing professional, friendly, and caring service. The College's head chef and his team offer a selection of ready-made dining options, but they love creating bespoke menus to suit every palate, style, and budget. Couples can count on everyone at St Chad’s to go above and beyond to ensure that everything is perfect and ready for their special day. Viewings are available, and the team at St Chad’s looks forward to meeting you.

PERFECT day from start to finish! Exceptional service from all the staff, delicious food, stunning venue!
Best Day Ever!
The staff were very helpful, we were put at ease each time we called up with a stupid question or a pointless panic about something
On the day, as well as in the run up, Darryl was amazing, the whole event (my daughter Amy’s wedding) flowed from start to finish, seamlessly!
Darryl and his team took care of everything, he kept saying “trust me, it will be perfect” and it was.
Couldn’t recommend this venue and it’s staff highly enough!
Beautiful venue, stress free day
Perfect from start to finish
Everything went amazing at the church I finally married my sole mate!
When we arrived back to Chads Daryl met us with a big smile and a congratulation. We were then given 5 minutes to gather our thoughts before going to see our guests.
Even thought it rained pretty much all day we got the most incredible pictures inside of the Cassidy quad.
Food was delicious and there wasn’t many empty plates left. Guests told us how nice it was too!
Our whole day ran so smoothly leaving me and my husband to really enjoy every aspect of it.
I can’t thank the staff enough for everything they did for us to make the most perfect day. It’s a day we will never forget.
Sara for just taking over as wedding coordinator you did a great job and I’m so pleased we got to work with you.

A perfect venue
An incredible place to get married
The main quadrant looks lovely and light during the day, but once it was lit up in the evening it looked truly amazing. Having the gardens was fantastic both for pictures and a place to chat with friends in the sunshine. Lots of lovely spots nearby for wonderful photos including the spectacular Durham Cathedral. The whole package was really good value for money. If we could do it all again we wouldn't change a thing. We had the best day!

Beautiful location and quaint unusual setting with another wow factor couldn’t of asked anymore .. had a good weather so could use the garden .. presentation food all top class

We had a fantastic time, as did all our guests.
We did not stopped talking about our wedding for days, with huge smiles on our faces.
The venue looked great, all the staff were friendly and helpful and the transitions between rooms/ parts of the day were seamless.
All the guests commented on how amazing the venue was, both inside and out.
The food was delicious.
The team were so responsive by email and phone which made organising the event so much easier, being hundreds of miles away.
We couldn't recommend St Chad's more highly!
