Where can we start with the team at St Chads Durham? They are known as Durham’s hidden gem and this couldn’t be truer. After visiting a few different venues we came across St Chads and fell straight in love, from the amazing Cassidy Quad to the large garden area. Darryl and the team made us both very confident from day one, communicating regularly on the run up to the wedding and no request of ours was too much. The day itself couldn’t have went better and the running of the day was coordinated excellently from Darryl and team, and in the process we gained a lot of compliments from our guests on the choice of venue. Ourselves and our family would be sure to recommend St Chad’s to anyone considering a wedding in the area, thank you all so much!

We cannot recommend St Chad’s as a wedding venue highly enough – everything about the day was above and beyond. From start to finish, Darryl, Lesley and the team made the whole process feel completely seamless and stress-free. They were incredibly responsive to any questions we had, and so flexible in helping us create a day that we wanted.

The venue itself is unique and full of character. All the more special for us as Durham is where we met and went to university. The outside space was beautiful and gave our guests plenty of room to relax and play garden games.

The food was absolutely excellent – from the canapés to the wedding breakfast and evening food. The team made sure all dietary needs were catered to.

It truly was the perfect setting for our day, and we feel lucky to have celebrated such an important moment in such a meaningful place.

I could not fault the service from St Chad’s. Darryl dealt with us throughout and was professional and extremely responsive. He guided us through the process and dealt with our disorganisation/chaos with ease. I would recommend! It’s a beautiful venue.

We were married in August 2025 at St Chads and had looked at several venues until we stumbled across this via Instagram.. It was mostly definitely love at first sight and we booked the venue within a few minutes of seeing this place.
From booking St Chads to getting married here was made so so easy by the wonderful Darryl who is just an absolute professional. Nothing was an issue and Darryl just kept everything easy and made our day run like clockwork. He was available any time we wanted to go over things and really put us at ease. Darryl gave some great advice and we are so grateful as it made our day even more special.
St Chads was beautifully decorated by Neatly Seated who really understood us and the venue and made it so very beautiful. Also Jenny Fozzard our photographer again is very familiar with the venue and did a fantastic job of capturing our day.
We had a classic package with 65 guests, the food was outstanding. All of our guests complimented the meals and the portion sizes were amazing but everything was cooked to perfection. Equally the evening Buffet went down a treat!
St Chads is absolutely stunning during the day but even more magical on an evening. The Quad with the lighting is just beautiful.
I would definitely recommend going to an open day, especially if like us we were worried about the weather for our day but equally wanted an outdoor wedding. St Chads really has it all and is just a beautiful setting with fantastic staff!

St Chads was a great wedding venue that had everything we could have ever asked for we booked well in advance after falling in love with the Quad. Daryl was on hand whenever we needed a hand, needed to ask a question and guest us through planning our special day. The food was lovely and we had such great feedback from all our guests regarding how beautiful the wedding venue was equally we have to say that every member of staff was amazing. They were so kind and helpful to everyone.

Darryl was extremely professional, friendly and helpful. Chad’s were flexible in allowing us to tailor the services to our needs and offered good value for money. It’s a lovely venue and offers flexibility if the weather isn’t great.

Me and my husband got married at St Chads in the Quad and we had the best day of our lives! It is an absolutely gorgeous venue, with very little additional decoration needed. The garden is stunning too.

Darryl and Lesley were excellent in the entire lead-up to the wedding, they were super responsive and always had quick answers to our questions. On the wedding day itself, them and the rest of the staff were super, everything was laid out and arranged in exactly the way we had asked for.

The food and wine was fantastic too, great selection and professional service.

We’ve recently had our wedding at St Chad’s and could not recommend it any more highly! Reading the recommendations before booking I wasn’t sure it would genuinely be as good as they said… however it was even better! The whole day went so smoothly and more perfectly than we could have imagined! Darryl was the best coordinator we could have asked for- he floated around brilliantly, keeping everything running like clockwork, easing any nerves, taking control but in such a gentle and professional way, even fluffing my dress when needed before the ceremony! The meal was absolutely delicious and we had so many comments about how brilliant the venue was overall. The value for money is tremendous and we can’t thank St Chad’s and especially Darryl enough for making our day more perfect than we ever could have imagined!

St Chad's was the perfect venue for our wedding reception after our ceremony across the river at St Oswald's Church. The venue is stunning, and it's truly incredible to have all that space to you and your guests - being able to have drinks in the garden (with the quad as a beautiful back-up for a rainy day which luckily we didn't need), the gorgeous dining room for our wedding breakfast, common rooms for relaxing and hosting our photobooth, followed by the Quad for our band and evening party. All of this is a literal stone's throw from the cathedral and lovely cobbled streets for photographs.

Our three-course wedding breakfast was wonderful, as were the canapes during the drinks reception, and our guests were very complimentary. We couldn't have been happier with the food, all delicious and very high quality! The pizza buffet on the evening also went down a storm.

Darryl and the team were incredible - they went above and beyond and were happy to discuss any ideas and how to make them work. As just one example, we hosted a cocktail hour with signature 'his and hers' drinks after the wedding breakfast and it was amazing to see the team make our vision come to life. Darryl looked after us so well on the day, checking that everything was ok and keeping everything running smoothly.

A few extra things to mention - having a room at Chad's was super useful so we could have space onsite for a quick outfit change before dancing the night away. Also, Chad's is so beautiful that it doesn't need much extra decoration, but the team are happy to lend their stunning candelabras and other faux flowers which really complimented and elevated the decor we'd planned with our florist (The Enchanted Florist). Our wedding was on a Friday and Darryl and team were so helpful in storing our belongings and decor in a safe room for us until we were able to pick everything back up on the Sunday. Darryl was also happy for us to use confetti indoors, which not all venues are - so thank you for being on board and supportive of our plans.

We recently celebrated our wedding at St Chad’s College in Durham, and I can honestly say it was everything we could have hoped for and more. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful – a true hidden gem nestled in the shadow of the cathedral. It has such a classy, elegant charm, and the glass-roofed Cassidy Quad ceremony room is simply outstanding. The natural light that pours in is breathtaking and created the most magical atmosphere.

The garden is huge and versatile – we had a bouncy castle for both children and adults, which was a hit, and there was still plenty of space left for another hundred guests to enjoy the grounds comfortably.

The food was absolutely perfect. Our three-course wedding breakfast received so many compliments from our guests, and we couldn’t have been happier with the quality and presentation.

From the moment we booked right through to the day after the wedding, we had incredible support from Daryl. He is such a lovely, funny, kind, and efficient person who made everything so easy. From liaising with suppliers to making sure no detail was missed, nothing was ever too much trouble. On the morning of the wedding, he even brought my little boy up to me so the groom wouldn’t catch a glimpse before the ceremony – a thoughtful touch I’ll never forget.

Daryl, Lesley and their team worked tirelessly on the day, dressing the hall and ceremony room beautifully with the decorations I had provided. The result was spectacular, exactly how I had imagined it. They checked in throughout the day, made sure I was always where I needed to be, and kept everything running seamlessly.

They are both such lovely people, and my experience at St Chad’s simply wouldn’t have been the same without them. I cannot thank them enough for their hard work, kindness, and attention to detail.

Originally we were going to have our ceremony at the registry office, followed by the reception at St Chad's. But speaking with Darryl and Lesley they helped us set up an intimate ceremony with 20 of our family and friends in the Senior Common Room earlier in the day, before inviting the rest of our reception guests later.

We were able to have an afternoon tea with our ceremony guests, and a pizza buffet later in the evening. The St Chad's staff were extremely flexible in setting all of this up, and everyone had many positive comments about the venue.

We can't thank them enough for helping us create a perfect day, not just for ourselves, but for our guests as well.

We cannot begin to express how amazing our wedding day at St Chads was. The venue was stunning and every single guest was in awe! Darryl and Lesley were fantastic from the minute we made our first enquiry. They literally couldn’t have been more helpful.
