Unique and Unusual Wedding Venues in East Central London

We couldn't have asked for a better venue for our wedding reception. Wagtail rooftop is a beautiful location and our guests could see all of London's landmarks. Rebecca, our wedding planner, was friendly, responsive and professional. She and her team were flexible with our requests; the food was AMAZING!; the service on the day was spot on! Although we only had canapes and no sit down meal, they offer the possibility of having large bites and late night pizzas, which was more than enough to keep our guests full. The service leading up to the day - inclusing tasting and correspondence - was professional and fast, and they even helped us with finding a DJ. Needless to say, they went above and beyond. We were able to enjoy our night because we knew we were in good hands.

It worked out really well to have our ceremony and reception in the nave, the buffet service in the courtyard by an outside caterer, drinks in an ice bucket on a table in the side area. and a chill-out/changing area in the tent just for us. There was room for 50 people buffet style but it might have fit only about 35-40 for table service. The speakers, video projector, and microphones worked without a hitch using our own laptop computer, and the colored floor lamps made it atmospheric. A good time was had by all but be sure to allow an hour to clear up within the booked time at the end. We managed in less time because the guests helpfully pitched in.

We booked our wedding reception in the Georgian room and it was excellent: good size for 40 ppl, intimate and stylish within this beautiful old building. Niomi was ever helpful and kind, clear on details and very professional. In the evening we partied in another room where Niomi and Emma were on hand throughout kindly guiding wandering guests. We got married at the Barbican in September 2013 and we had the most wonderful day of our lives. Julia Woods, who had been our point of contact at the Barbican throughout all the organizing of the day was fantastic. Her calm and friendly approach was really appreciated. We met several times at the venue in the run up to talk through details. Thankfully, Julia was far more organized than we were and made sure we had all the details agreed and sorted in advance. The catering and service staff did a fantastic job on the day. Sabrina’s attention to small details really made a difference – from suggesting extra cushions for guests to sit on during the service to setting out our cheese cake and sides. The food was superb, just as we’d tried at the tasting and it was all served promptly. All the waiting staff were friendly, efficient and very accommodating. My mother in-law uses a wheelchair and the staff made sure everything was set up so she could move easily and enjoy the day. The Conservatory at the Barbican is a really magical place to get married and we would definitely recommend it to anyone considering it for their special day.

We were all so impressed with the venue! I must say the HAC looks fabulous on a sunny day and is a gem in the heart of the city. As the night drew to a close we were stunned by the fabulous fireworks that were launched on the grounds and The Long Room gave exactly the scene that we wanted to set. The staff were helpful and extremely courteous, and the menu that we personally selected catered for all guests attending. To sum up a perfect day and the perfect setting.
