Thornton Manor is an inviting period manor house and wedding venue nestled within 120 acres of parkland and exquisite gardens in Hooton, Cheshire. The village gem of Thornton Hough, this elegant venue was originally built as the home of the Leverhulme family and exudes historic enchantment and charm. With our romantic Manor room set up, couples seeking an idyllic escape from city life will love this gorgeous setting.

Facilities and Capacity

Thornton Manor welcomes couples to their stately house, where two beautiful areas are ideal for a memorable indoor ceremony and reception. The Georgian-inspired dining room features walnut paneling and scenic views of the lime tree avenues.

Alternatively, the stunning music room offers an extravagant atmosphere, adorned with elaborate plasterwork, period paintings, and tall ceilings with skylights. Up to 250 guests can join you in this secluded area immersed in two acres of the countryside. You and your loved ones can wander the lush grounds during your stay, finding photo opportunities at every turn. When your festivities end, you and your guests can retire to up to 14 nearby cottages for the utmost comfort.

Our Wedding Day

We got married on 28.12.19 in the Manor House and had the most perfect day ever. On the run up to the wedding we were in regular contact with all of the wedding coordinators all of which were an absolute dream to work with.

On the day of our wedding everything went amazingly, they even let me set up a day early due to there being no wedding in the day before which was fantastic.

Rooms we stayed in were fantastic and really in keeping with the character of the venue, would highly recommend the gate house to stay in the night before.

The Manor House- WOW! Everyone commented on how stunning the venue was and if you get married at Christmas like we did it is fully decked out with gorgeous decorations and Christmas trees.

Every member of staff I dealt with was just fantastic and nothing was too much for them.

Thank you Thornton Manor for the most amazing, stress free wedding day.

Staff were incredible!

The whole experience was amazing, they venue was beautiful, the provided caterers were brilliant and all of our guests complemented the food, the venue and the staff.
The on site accommodation cottages were lovely and very convenient.
Would definitely recommend!

Thornton Manor staff are Angels

Me and my now husband got married during the 15 guest allowance, we went though a rollercoaster of emotions but thornton manor staff were there for us through thick and thin! Georgie & Charlotte in particular were phenomenal. They made a very scary/stressful situation into our dream day! The room was beautiful and everything went perfect. Thank you so much.

The Manor House

From our initial viewing of the venue we knew this was the one for us. The venue speaks for itself and is just absolutely stunning. The staff were so incredibly kind, friendly and supportive from our first meeting to the final ta-ra’s the day following the wedding. They were so organised and nothing was too much to ask for. They put both myself and my husband at ease on the day, and it felt like having friends with us throughout.
Our guests were blown away with the house and gardens, and how well kept it all is.
If we could do it all over again we would, and we wouldn’t change a thing.

Worst Experience of My Life

Thornton Manor staff/management inexperience, ignorance and unprofessionalism ruined our special day;
We booked and paid almost £10,000 for the Thornton Manor Garden Marquee for our wedding. All we wanted was the perfect day for her. It was the complete opposite.
A substantial amount of money was exchanged to hire a marquee surrounded by gardens. So you’d expect the best customer service and satisfaction. Absolutely NOT.
We booked a Toast Master on the management’s advice, paid extra for his services. This was a total disaster, the microphone did not work. The sound system was poor. The best man, bridesmaid speeches were all ruined, the actual ceremony was ruined. All speeches/music/songs/announcements were not heard by any of our guests. The event supervisor did not have a backup plan, did not have a spare microphone, and did not care at all to be honest. It was a DISASTER.
It was raining - so you do not get to take pictures in the gardens, waltz the gardens, view the gardens and you do not get any discount or sympathy from Thornton Manor. Birkenhead is a VERY RAINY place. Please consider probable weather conditions.
I complained about the whole experience - however the management did not give a damn. Fell on deaf ears – very rude. They offered me £350 back for the toastmaster and said the event went well. Like hell it did - No remorse, No empathy, just £350 offered out of £10,000. I felt insulted; I told them to keep the money. I mean to rub salt in your wounds, is just an understatement.
All Thornton Manor management care about is your money.
Please seriously consider other venues before booking with this place for any event.

I just wanted to say a hughe Thank you for everything you did for my wedding on Thursday 10th August. We has an absolutely amazing time and could not have asked for any more off anybody there.
All staff on the day were incredible and I'd like to give a special mention to Dougie who was so relaxed and helped myself so much and nothing was too much for him.

Thornton manor is the venue of my dreams

Where do I start, Thornton manor is the venue of my dreams, from the moment I saw the Manor House I knew it was the only wedding venue for us, the Music room is unbelievably stunning. All the staff at Thornton manor are amazing, nothing is ever too much trouble, they go above and beyond with everything. All the staff were professional, friendly, helpful and efficient. James and I visited Thornton Manor a number of times on the run up to our wedding, we were always made to feel incredible welcome, nothing was ever too much trouble. The wedding coordinators are amazing and made the planning process so easy and smooth. All the staff on the day were fantastic and everything ran perfectly. All our guests were overwhelmed with the Manor House. I stayed in the thatched pavilion the night before the wedding which was gorgeous. All the guest who stayed in the Manor House on our wedding night loved their rooms and the catering the following day. James and I can't thank everyone at Thornton Manor enough, you ready did make our wedding the most amazing day and I'd highly recommend Thornton Manor! Thank you so much James and Rachel

Best Day of My Life

I couldn't have asked for a better venue for our wedding. The house is gorgeous, the staff helpful and everyone involved went above and beyond.
If you want luxury, elegance and class - you will not be disappointed. I felt so at ease here, every detail was handled with care and I was made to feel like the most important person in the world!
