My husband and I had our wedding reception here on June 10th. What can we say from the day we booked it to the day of the wedding the experience was exceptional. We would especially like to thank Rachael for all her hard work, no details were missed and she went above and beyond our expectations. The food was fantastic and so was the service that day, the staff were fantastic and we couldnt of asked for anything more. We couldnt of asked for a better day and would recommend this hotel for anyone considering a wedding in Grasmere. The receptionist even managed to find us a room so we could stay an extra night. We will definately be returning to the Wordsworth. Thank you Tom and Katie Markiewicz

We got married at the Wordsworth 3 weeks ago and everything was perfect. Right from the start of the planning process the Wordsworth were organised and ensured we had the right package for the day. Rachel, the wedding planner was great ensuring to stay on top of any ammendments and changes keeping the whole planning process calm and enjoyable. The wedding weekend itself was perfect. We met Rach on the Friday to run through everything one final time and to go through the decorations. This put us at ease. The morning of the wedding was fab- the Bridal suite is beautiful and there is plenty of space for getting ready. I had 6 bridesmaids, 2 x make up artists, a hair dresser and a photographer in there and me and there was still room, plus there were sarnies and champagne to keep us going!
The sun came out 10 mins before the ceremony and from there on in we had the best day ever! The wedding breakfast was ran to perfection with Rach overseeing everything as the master of ceremonies. The food was delicious- I can recommend the sticky toffee pudding! Everything ran smoothly and everyone enjoyed the food. The decorations looked great and there was a relaxed atmosphere throughout. The evening function room worked well for 120 people and the dancefloor was just thr right size with the band at the front. Everyone also thoroughly enjoyed their bacon and sausage sandwiches.

All in all we could not fault our wedding day, it was perfect in every way, thank you to Rach and the rest of the Wordsworth team for helping to make it so perfect. We just wish we could do it all over again!

Sorry this may be a long review.....
We got married here on 1st April 2017 and absolutely would recommend this as a wedding venue or as a hotel stay.
The hotel itself is gorgeous with lovely rooms. We had the inclusive exclusive wedding package which basically meant 100 of our friends and family took over the whole hotel and all the rooms from Friday lunch til Sunday lunch. This in itself was so amazing. To have all the people we love in one place for the whole weekend rather than just the big day.
The staff were so lovely. In particular Rachael the wedding coordinator who was amazing from the minute she showed us round initially, through the months leading up to the big day (and my hundreds of emails which she always responded to), through the day itself and after. Genuinely thank you so much Rachael!
Also, a special mention to Cat who spent a lot of time setting up the IT needed for the groom's speech.
Everyone raved about every aspect of the wedding from the venue, the bedrooms, the grounds (we got the sun from about lunchtime ?), the food for the wedding breakfast.
We had the ceremony, breakfast and evening do all in the Coleridge suite which meant we had to come out while the room was changed around each time but because of the grounds and all the little lounges which interconnect, it wasn't a problem at all. In fact, it added to the day.
The hotel recommendations for the flowers, cake, hairdresser and photographer were also outstanding:
Flowers - Lily Lou's of Ambleside
Cake - Beauleas Cake Studio Lea Holcroft
    Photographer - Steve Holcroft
    Hair - Aqua the Salon
I seriously cannot recommend this hotel enough, so much so that we're going back there for our mini moon!

We were married here in November surrounded by our family and friends. The ceremony room and the restaurant looked stunning and the staff just couldn't do enough for us. Everything was perfect and every detail was managed with military precision by Rachael and her team. The food was spectacular and the service second to none. It couldn't have been better. Thank you. We chose The Wordsworth Hotel as our wedding venue and do not regret it one single bit. Rachael has been so helpful and full of advice and although she wasn't there for our big day, we couldn't have done it without her. In Rachaels absence, Catalin took over and was fantastic. He was there at our beck and call and helped calm the nerves of a very nervous bride and groom.

The rest of the staff were excellent, very attentive, polite and courteous and our guests were well looked after.

The food was absolutely amazing. From the restaurant meal on Friday night to our amazing wedding breakfast. All of our guests were very complimentary and said it was one of the best wedding meals they ever had!

We obviously had the bridal (Ruskin) suite, which was beautiful with amazing views of the hills. Me and the girls used the room in the morning to get ready and there was plenty of space for us, the hairdresser and make up artist.

We provided most of our own decorations and the hotel used them to decorate the hotel beautifully, it totally looked as I imagined if not better.

I could go on and on about what a wonderful experience our wedding was and this is all down to the fantastic staff at The Wordsworth Hotel...thank you so much! We will definitely be back again soon xx

Absolutely fantastic hotel. We had the non-inclusive wedding package after getting married in St Oswalds Church next door. The wedding coordinator Rachael and her team did an excellent job, and she took all the stress and worry out of what is for many a hectic time during planning. We can't thank her enough, as well as Catalin and the others for their effort. The food was top notch, and many of our friends and family commented that it was the best wedding in they had attended, including their own! Highly recommended and we're looking forward to booking our next stay there for a slightly quieter weekend soon!

We got married here on 30th April and what an amazing day, the sun shone and so did the staff ! Rachael the wedding planner was fantastic nothing was too much trouble, every tiny detail was taken care of. Our guests commented on how amazing the hospitality was they felt totally relaxed during the weekend, even going the extra mile and going out to purchase none alcoholic beer for one of our guests which was really appreciated. The food was beautiful in both the bistro and the signature restaurant, quality did not differ considering the amount of people ordering. All members of the Wordsworth staff work extremely hard and it shows! Thank you for such a perfect weekend that my family are still talking about now!

First class wedding venue & exceptional value for

We had our wedding at The Wordworth on 1st July this year and had an amazing time from start to finish. Catalin the manager and all the staff were fabulous! Planning a wedding can be very stressful, espeicially when it's away from home, but I can't thank everybody at the hotel enough for all the help and support they gave, Catalin most of all, who is very organised and answered questions we'd not even thought of! The hotel is beautiful in a wonderful little village, the rooms very comfortable and the food delicious, especially our 5 course wedding breakfast! We look forward to our next visit to The Wordsworth and many more to come.

    A Perfect Wedding

We first stayed at the Wordsworth in December 2011, again in June 2012 and then had our Wedding there in August 2012.
Firstly the setting and location of the hotel is perfect for all of us that love England's green and pleasant land and the village of Grasmere is delightful.
The hotel itself has a variety of rooms, all of which are excellent and the vast majority with great views.
Every time we have eaten there (including a Wedding Breakfast for 80 guests) the food has been faultless.
Finally the team and management are friendly and approachable. Catalin the manager filled us with confidence the moment we met him and then he and his team delivered a perfect day that we will never forget. We highly recommend the hotel and will be returning there in the very near future.

    Wonderful Wedding Venue

Had our wedding reception here and had the most amazing day of our lives. The hotel setting is idyllic, set in one of the most beautiful villages in the Lake District. The hotel itself is a beautiful lakeland stone building set in stunning grounds and is beautifully decorated, we stayed in The Ruskin Suite which was absolutely gorgeous and had great views of the gardens and mountains.

The staff at The Wordsworth are fantastic. Very welcoming, organised and efficient they helped us so much with the planning of our wedding from start to finish and made us feel very special, nothing was too much trouble for them.

Our stay at The Wordsworth was everything we wanted and more, I would highly recommend staying there, we can't wait to come back and stay again and are already talking about booking to stay for our 1st wedding anniversary (although I hope we can come back before that!) and if you are thinking of getting married in the Lake District there really is no better venue in our opinion. A very special place!

    The most idyllic setting

We set a real challenge to the team as it was a wedding for 200 people over the whole weekend and they came through on all fronts. The rooms and ambience of the hotel were wonderful, the staff were friendly and efficient, the chef outstanding and the management team totally on the case. Iain , the owner and his daughter Polly with their depth of experience made sure every detail was covered and the event ran totally efficiently. Unfortunately we weren't lucky with the weather but white brollies appeared as if by magic and in such a lovely venue it had no impact on everybody's full enjoyment of the event. I can strongly recommend it to anybody who wants the most magical place in the world for their most special day. You pulled it off for us , thank you to everybody at the Wordsworth

    My Daughters big day

We held my daughter's wedding at the Wordsworth this weekend, and I cannot praise the staff and the venue highly enough. The hotel is located right in the heart of the village of Grasmere ("the loveliest spot that man hath ever known" W.Wordsworth). The owner was charming and extremely helpful (two of our guests forgot to bring their Dinner Jackets and somehow at the eleventh hour he managed to produce two replacements - one his own). The staff were amazing - very friendly - nothing was too much trouble for them. The late afternoon candlelit dinner for over 80 guests in the restaurant was superb (both food and service). The bedrooms are large, well presented and extremely comfortable, as are the lounges, bars and restaurant. The hotel grounds are extensive and well-kept, with ample parking facilities. The only disappointment was the weather - it rained - a lot - but then it was the Lake District and it was November. Anyone seeking a first class wedding venue should take a very serious look at this hotel- I cannot recommend it highly enough. The icing on the cake for us was the beautiful St Oswalds Church next door, where the wedding ceremony took place.
