The Moat Barn & Tap Room is an award winning, historic wedding venue located in the quaint village of Wrotham, Kent. Our 15th century barn is perfect for couples who dream of a beautifully designed space, picturesque gardens, jaw dropping cuisine, thrist quenching beverages and a lively night of entertainment.
Facilities and Capacity
This venue is sure to inspire your photographer and guests alike, from its rustic barn-style interiors and flagstone to the original fireplace. The indoor reception space can accommodate 150 people for your wedding meal and is beautifully decorated with vintage furniture and warm lighting. During the summer months, you and your guests can enjoy the secret courtyard and beautifully landscaped gardens with our stylish unique huts for your first drink as a married couple. You will have exclusive access to the venue's barn, taproom and courtyard. From a romantic ceremony to a late-night reception, The Moat Barn & Tap Room welcomes you for each memorable wedding milestone. To complete your perfect day, we offer six beautifully designed king bedrooms for you and your guests to enjoy adjacent to the venue. This includes a luxurious bridal suite for the bridal party on morning of your wedding to get ready and a place to rest your head on the first night of marital bliss. The following morning enjoy an in room continental breakfast provided by our talented chef team.
Services Offered
Couples can choose from our various wedding proposal packages, based on their guest numbers. Our packages include delectable in-house catering, a full-service bar, and one-on-one support from your event management staff. After saying 'I do,' treat your guests to a cocktail hour in our private courtyard or beer garden, enjoy half a bottle of carefully hand picked wines per person and lead a champagne toast. Our culinary director Laura boasts 'Best of British' cuisine, however her skills do not stop there, her and her team of chefs love to express their passion through various cuisines. Your dinner menu can be bespoke and catered to your taste. Whilst you are enjoying your Drinks Reception enjoy our selection of delectable canapes. Our Traditional Three Course Wedding Breakfast, complete with an option to add delicious fourth course of an artisanal cheese board, is the perfect way to enjoy the delights of dining in our 15th century barn. Our expert bartenders are busy serving up a wide selection of beer, wine, and cocktails in our beautifully designed Tap Room. The Moat Barn & Tap Room is known for its lively entertainment, are happy to recommend professionals nearby; the venue provides everything you need to enjoy the most memorable day of your lives!

The Perfect Twilight Wedding
The team at The Moat were incredible and so accommodating throughout the whole journey. Every single member of staff went above and beyond to make sure we, and all of our guests, felt truly looked after.
Aimie, our wedding planner, was fantastic. Her attention to detail was exceptional, and we genuinely couldn’t have asked for anything more.
Ellie, Myles, and Chris were the dream team — they made us and our guests feel so welcome, kept the drinks flowing, and ensured everyone knew exactly what was happening throughout the day.
The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and luxurious. The staff were happy, professional, and friendly. The food by Laura was absolutely to die for, and Carl’s music was AMAZING — he completely set the vibe for the evening. To top it all off, the Barn and Tap Room are simply beautiful.
We truly had the best day and wish we could do it all over again. We cannot recommend this beautiful venue highly enough — the staff at The Moat and the wedding team are what make it so special.
It really was a day to remember, and we are forever grateful.

The booking process from start to finish was straightforward and communication was good and we felt confident that any questions we asked were always addressed.
Down to the big day, our wedding planner was Aimie, and wow what can we say, she was simply AMAZING. The organisation was just incredible, she was there every step of the way, even helping to tie up bows and flower corsages. She did not stop from first thing on the morning until late at night, even our guests commented how good she was, she is a true credit to your team.
We visit the Moat often for lunch or dinner so we knew the food would be good, what we hadn’t expected was how fantastic the service would be with silver glove service. Months later our guests are still praising it all.
If only we could do it all again, well done Team Moat

However the main reason you should have your wedding at the Moat is because of Aimee. Aimee was our wedding coordinator and we couldn’t have asked for better, she is funny, kind, caring, thoughtful and on the ball. She went above and beyond to make sure, not only us as bride and groom, but every single one of our guests was happy. The set up she created for our cake table and guest book area was amazing, more than I ever could have dreamt of. As the bride having to hand over the control to someone else made me anxious but Aimee was reassuring and exceeded my expectations by miles, she done everything better than I ever imagined. She is amazing and a credit to the Moat. If you want a smooth organised beautiful amazing wedding day have it at the Moat!

Our Wedding at The Moat Barn
We are extremely happy we chose The Moat Barn and Taproom as the venue for our wedding. We went with the rustic theme and were not disappointed. The wedding ceremony arrangements felt intimate and magical!
The service provided by the wedding team from initial planning through to our wedding day was superb.
On the day, the wedding coordinator had such amazing drive and enthusiasm, supported by a great team, that made our day flow seamlessly through to the end.
It was a very hot day so our guests enjoyed drinks and canapés in the garden. The quality of food at the wedding breakfast and service was excellent.
The Taproom for the evening reception is a good size as we had a band play as well as the resident DJ.
After our special day, it was wonderful to stay in the Bridal suite at the venue.
Thanks to the Moat, we had a brilliant wedding!
Our twilight wedding
The venue itself is so beautiful, we got so many compliments! We also booked all 6 rooms at the venue & they were so clean, tidy & modern. The DJ was also 10/10. Food was also unreal, as well as the breakfast in the morning.
Booking was so simple & communication was great the whole time, I cannot recommend getting married anywhere better than at The Moat.
Big shout out the Aimie again! You really did make a difference to our day.

The Most Perfect Wedding!!!!
The food was so good! We opted for a family style meal as we wanted to create a more relaxed atmosphere, it was perfect. The wine, the fizz, the welcome drinks & canapes - just wow!
Our families all stayed for 2 nights, the accommodation is excellent and the bridal suite is massive - you can open up through to the adjoining room making this the perfect place for any bride (or groom) to get ready. The continental breakfast is also really good!
The cherry on the cake is that we could also bring our dog, Bruce, which meant a lot. If you are planning on getting married, we cannot recommend the Moat enough!

The venue itself is breathtaking, offering the perfect backdrop for our celebration. From the start to the finish, the staff were exceptional, ensuring everything ran smoothly and allowing us to enjoy every moment without a worry. Aimie, our wedding coordinator, was absolutely instrumental in making the day stress-free. Her professionalism, support, and attention to every little detail made all the difference. Even when we showed up with a mountain of boxes, Aimie and the team handled it all without hesitation, nothing was too much trouble for them.
The food was beyond impressive, our guests are still talking about how delicious everything was! The chefs nailed the presentation, quality, and quantity, everyone was full heading into the evening festivities, where the bar staff kept everyone’s glasses full and spirits high all night. The venue’s décor was stunning, striking a perfect balance between our specifications and The Moat’s rustic charm. And the staff executed it all with remarkable efficiency and care.
We were also thrilled with how seamlessly additional venders like the photo booth and casino tables were incorporated into the day. The team handled everything with ease, making sure that the extra elements didn’t disrupt the flow of events but enhanced them.
On top of all of this, the on-site accommodation was perfect, comfortable, convenient, and easily accessible. The team even went above and beyond by packing everything up for us after the wedding, so we could easily collect our things the next day. It’s the thoughtful touches like this that truly set The Moat apart.
The care, kindness, and dedication we experienced from the team made us feel like we were their top priority. A month later, our guests are still raving about how incredible the day was, and it’s clear that none of it would have been possible without Aimie and the amazing team at The Moat.

Best Wedding Ever!
The barn is beautiful, rustic and the fairly lights and hops make it feel cosy and welcoming.
The team were incredible at organising everything including food, music, order of the day etc. The food was SO YUMMY and they went out of their way to cater for me being coeliac, and nut/lactose allergies for our guests. They even left a gluten free pizza and some of our wedding cake by our bed for after the party when we went back to our room!
We stayed in the on site hotel rooms the night before and the night of the wedding which are also beautiful- newly decorated and modern, ideal for the wedding party getting ready together with lovely big mirrors and even a mannequin for the dress.
We were SO chilled out the whole weekend- we had dinner and drinks in the pub the day/night before and then continental breakfast in our rooms whilst we got ready.
I honestly could not fault anything at all.
Aimie was an absolute legend throughout and put all our worries aside and ran with all the ideas we wanted. Zoe then took over on the day and despite being very pregnant ensured everything went perfectly!
We had the most amazing day and I know 2 of the friends that came have already recommended the venue for family friends looking for a wedding venue.
So many of our guests have been commenting on how beautiful the barn is.
Thank you guys so much, we've made memories to last a lifetime and wish we could do it all over again!

The staff quickly became friends, nothing was ever too much trouble. The wedding team catered to our every whim and never once got fed up of our endless questions or requests.
They helped to bring our vision to life which made the day even more magical.
We got married at Christmas and the venue was decorated perfectly, there was no need for us to add any further decoration which meant we kept the wedding looking simple and classic.
