The Moat Barn & Tap Room is an award winning, historic wedding venue located in the quaint village of Wrotham, Kent. Our 15th century barn is perfect for couples who dream of a beautifully designed space, picturesque gardens, jaw dropping cuisine, thrist quenching beverages and a lively night of entertainment.
Facilities and Capacity
This venue is sure to inspire your photographer and guests alike, from its rustic barn-style interiors and flagstone to the original fireplace. The indoor reception space can accommodate 150 people for your wedding meal and is beautifully decorated with vintage furniture and warm lighting. During the summer months, you and your guests can enjoy the secret courtyard and beautifully landscaped gardens with our stylish unique huts for your first drink as a married couple. You will have exclusive access to the venue's barn, taproom and courtyard. From a romantic ceremony to a late-night reception, The Moat Barn & Tap Room welcomes you for each memorable wedding milestone. To complete your perfect day, we offer six beautifully designed king bedrooms for you and your guests to enjoy adjacent to the venue. This includes a luxurious bridal suite for the bridal party on morning of your wedding to get ready and a place to rest your head on the first night of marital bliss. The following morning enjoy an in room continental breakfast provided by our talented chef team.
Services Offered
Couples can choose from our various wedding proposal packages, based on their guest numbers. Our packages include delectable in-house catering, a full-service bar, and one-on-one support from your event management staff. After saying 'I do,' treat your guests to a cocktail hour in our private courtyard or beer garden, enjoy half a bottle of carefully hand picked wines per person and lead a champagne toast. Our culinary director Laura boasts 'Best of British' cuisine, however her skills do not stop there, her and her team of chefs love to express their passion through various cuisines. Your dinner menu can be bespoke and catered to your taste. Whilst you are enjoying your Drinks Reception enjoy our selection of delectable canapes. Our Traditional Three Course Wedding Breakfast, complete with an option to add delicious fourth course of an artisanal cheese board, is the perfect way to enjoy the delights of dining in our 15th century barn. Our expert bartenders are busy serving up a wide selection of beer, wine, and cocktails in our beautifully designed Tap Room. Perfect day , with dedicated staff
We had the most perfect day in December for our wedding! Very well organised , nothing too obscure or too much trouble for the team here. Amy was the lady running our day and despite never meeting her before it all ran smoothly and our requests were met regardless. The food was delicious and plentiful and everyone commented on how wonderful the whole day was. The venue itself is so beautiful and decorated so well that we really only added very few decorations ourselves as it was already so beautiful. - saving us a lot of work which was also a big reason for picking this venue! We stayed at the venue and the rooms were spotless, comfortable and convenient. Even the next day all our belongings were carefully packed and ready for us upon departure.

Beautiful wedding venue in Kent
From the moment we walked into the Moat at the beginning of 2023 we knew it was the place we wanted to become Mr & Mrs. We were bowled over by the venue’s sheer beauty. It provided us with everything that we were looking for, rustic, charm and authenticity.
The staff quickly became friends, nothing was ever too much trouble. The wedding team catered to our every whim and never once got fed up of our endless questions or requests.
They helped to bring our vision to life which made the day even more magical.
We got married at Christmas and the venue was decorated perfectly, there was no need for us to add any further decoration which meant we kept the wedding looking simple and classic.

The Perfect Pub Barn Wedding Venue
This was the perfect venue for our wedding. The team that looked after us were incredible. The organisation of everything throughout made it all so easy and relaxed. They catered for many different options so we were able to enjoy our wedding exactly as we wanted. And on the day it all went brilliantly. We particularly appreciated how the team had scheduled moments for my wife and I to enjoy by ourselves, to take a breath and absorb it all.
Everyone commented on how fabulous the venue looked. It required minimal decoration, which worked well as we needed to make a small budget go a long way. The rooms and bridal suite on site were also a wonderful addition, that added to the whole experience. A massive thank you from us to Amanda and the whole team!

Best wedding ever!
We cannot recommend The Moat enough....the truly pulled off the most incredible wedding for us. From our first visit, through all the planning and the day itself we had exemplary service, care, warmth and organisation. They made everything so easy, were willing to go above and beyond and put us at ease.
Special shout out to our coordinator on the day, Amy. When we arrived the day before to drop off our stuff she was so knowledgeable, helpful and calm as well as bringing such a positive vibe. All our family and guests commented on how wonderful she was.
The space is just so beautiful and all the facilities (including the hotel rooms) are top notch. The food was particularly spectacular, we had the family style service and everything was delicious, hot and plentiful.
The team at The Moat liaise with all your vendors and make everything so easy including the registrar people, band, photographer etc.
It's the perfect venue if you want somewhere that's going to make planning straightforward but at the same time not feel like it's just a cookie cutter wedding venue that pumps out weddings on repeat. The place is somewhere we'll always go back to as a pub for years to come and it's got a lot of character and charm. It was also comparably great value, wedding prices are usually extortionate but I think their rates are very fair.

I would recommend The Moat over and over again!! To say it was the best day of our lives is an understatement! The whole Team went above and beyond, it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The venue, food, staff, DJ, singer - everything was totally amazing. Wish we could do it all over again!! Well done to each and everyone of you - and thank you from the bottom of our hearts xx

Amazing venue
We had our wedding here this month, and it was amazing. The venue is already beautifully decorated so we didn’t need to add too much, and during planning Amanda was more than happy to accommodate our wishes (we added mini golf and pool tables). The value for money is exceptional!
On the day Amy was absolutely brilliant, she kept us informed about what was going on and made sure we had everything we needed, which on such a busy/overwhelming day was amazing! The rooms are lovely too.
The food here is fantastic, and the guests loved the bbq type buffet we had for the wedding breakfast. The DJ that is included was also great, and made sure to stay away from the usual cheesy songs that we didn’t want! Definitely recommend the Moat, we’ll be back here for our anniversary dinners for sure.

May Bank Holiday wedding at The Moat
We recently got married at The Moat and it couldn’t have been more special.
Amanda and the team thought about every aspect of the day, her management meant everything went seamlessly and we were able to be fully present for every single beautiful moment.
Amanda took time to understand what we wanted, while also helping us to consider things we hadn’t thought about. She was supportive every step of the way, and on the day we couldn’t have asked for more. She was calm, in control and executed every detail perfectly. We were particularly blown away by the event decoration - her and the team made every effort to elevate the day. We couldn’t have been happier.
On a personal note, Amanda’s friendly demeanour was particularly welcome during the milestone moments in the day. We knew we could depend on her to let us know where, when and what was required of us. And she always went the extra mile - making sure we were fed, watered and happy at every spare moment - we couldn’t have asked for more.
The food and drink were fantastic. The family style meal suited us perfectly, and the flexibility with the menu meant it worked for a variety of dietary needs and preferences. We’ve had so many people tell us how good the food was - particularly the marinated chicken thighs!
The staff throughout the day were friendly and accommodating to a wide range of guest needs.
We couldn’t finish the review without mentioning Sky Sounds Disco - Carl was a real gem and helped make sure the whole wedding went by without a hitch. He truly cared about giving us and our guests a good time - and he properly delivered.
We also stayed in The Moat’s on site accommodation. It was stunningly decorated and allowed us to prepare for the wedding and recover in a calm, well equipped environment.

A day to remember!
We lost count of how many guests said it was the best wedding they had been to! The venue was perfect, the food was delicious (with every requirement taken care of), staff were polite, friendly and engaged with guests... it really was a fantastic day. But... and it is a good but... the day was the success that it was down to the wonderful planning and management of Amanda who thoughtfully and discreetly took care of details we hadn't even thought of.
If you are considering The Moat for your wedding you will not be disappointed. Amanda and the team will do their utmost to make sure your day is a success.

Brilliant wedding reception!
The Moat hosted our wedding reception on 27 April 2024. We were so pleased with the organisation and attentiveness of staff on the day. Both wedding coordinators Rebecca and Amanda are amazing and ensure that all the little details are taken care of, right down to your favourite drink as you arrive! The food was superb and the disco really got everyone going. The Moat also laid out our vision for the decoration of the room perfectly. The on-site accommodation is also very comfortable and has a perfect bridal suite. If you’d like a rustic wedding venue with lots of character and an amazing atmosphere - all on top of great food - at a reasonable price, this is for you!

Married at The Moat!
We recently got married at The Moat and cannot express how grateful we are for such a beautiful venue and the extremely helpful people involved. We cannot recommend it enough.
This was the first venue we looked at and we knew immediately it was the one. The bar and barn area are gorgeous and the garden, where we had our ‘cocktail hour’ and photos was lovely. Everybody complimented the venue and thoroughly enjoyed the food.
We’d like to give a big shout out to Amanda and Rebecca for being there to answer all of our questions throughout the planning process and Rebecca was fabulous on the day. We didn’t have to think about any of the logistics, she was always right there to tell us what was happening next and when. She ensured we enjoyed our day whilst she made sure everything ran smoothly.
The accommodation was beautiful and very comfortable. It was the perfect space for me to get ready with my bridesmaids on the morning.

The most amazing day!
I can’t recommend the moat as a wedding venue enough.
The barn is absolutely beautiful, the hops and fairy lights come as standard so you really don’t need additional decorations if your on a budget or prefer a beautifully simple look.
The planners are incredible! They make such an effort before the day to get a good grasp of what you as a couple want for your day so on the day itself every details is covered and the day runs so well.
The food is outstanding! We had so many compliments from our guests!
