Nestled in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, The Cock O’Barton is a relaxed, food-led wedding venue where every celebration is designed to feel personal. Our Grade II-listed, 17th-century coaching inn combines original character with contemporary dining, beautiful spaces and warm, attentive service.

Licensed for civil ceremonies, couples can enjoy their entire wedding day with us. Intimate celebrations can take place in our private dining room, while our garden marquee, available from April to October, can accommodate up to 70 guests for a wedding breakfast and 120 for an evening reception. For larger celebrations, exclusive use of the venue is available for up to 120 daytime guests, with additional capacity for the evening.

Food is at the heart of everything we do. Our talented chefs create generous, beautifully presented menus using quality ingredients, with plenty of flexibility to make the food feel completely your own. From relaxed BBQs and sharing-style dining to traditional wedding breakfasts, we’ll help you choose something that perfectly suits your day.

From your first viewing through to the wedding itself, you’ll have the support of your own experienced wedding coordinator. Alethea, winner of Best Wedding Coordinator for the North West 2026, will be on hand throughout the planning process to offer guidance, answer questions and make sure everything runs seamlessly.

With 14 individually styled bedrooms, your closest family and friends can stay overnight and continue the celebrations over breakfast the following morning.

Magical day from start to finish

Our day was magical from start to finish. Me and the girls stayed in the new lovely rooms the night before the wedding and had dinner in the evening which was perfect all being in one place ready for the big day!! Breakfast the next morning was lovely, with a great choice of menu. The Italian eggs were really yummy!! We were so happy with how our decorations were displayed in the ceremony room, the wedding breakfast with the tables etc, we even had garden games outside! The staff had done an amazing job of putting it all together. The day went so smoothly without any hiccups, I felt like Rachel & Jane were in control all day, they couldn't do enough for us. I would recommend anyone to get married at this perfect wedding venue, it's truly an amazing venue that we will visit very regularly now. I can't thank Alethea, Jane & Rachel enough for all there help in making our big day perfect.

Flexible & relaxed....we had the BEST DAY!

Firstly thanks to Alethea our wedding coordinator, we met several times and had many emails back and forth as I had lots of questions! Nothing was too much trouble. We asked for a couple of things out the ordinary for our wedding day and Alethea sorted them out with no hesitation. Alethea made us feel really relaxed throughout the whole planning stage. We had the marquee which was great! It was so flexible as we could decorate how we wanted. On the big day the staff could not have looked after us any better. They were attentive, polite and did everything with a smile. The staff really did make our day extra special as nothing was too much trouble. Many of our guests have also commented to me about how amazing the venue, staff, food and atmosphere was. We genuinely had THE BEST DAY, everything went to plan and I can't thank the staff enough.

Unforgettable!!

We want to say a massive thank you to the whole team at COB. We really can't thank you all enough for making our day so perfect. All of our guests were very complementary of the venue as it is so amazing anyway and it looked beautiful just as we'd imagined so thank you for putting so much care into the decoration. Also the food was absolutely amazing, again all of the guests were very impressed by the food. I can't wait to come back for a meal and stay over, the bedrooms are beautiful! Everyone should have their wedding at COB, we really couldn't have asked for a better place to have ours!

Beautiful venue...memorable day!

We got married at the Cock O' Barton at the start of June and had such a great day! It is a beautiful venue to get married in and we had the marquee for the wedding breakfast which was also lovely. In particular we would like to thank Alethea and Sian for helping us to organise the wedding and for all the correspondence and assistance in the run up to the big day, Sian and Lindsey for helping on the day itself and ensuring things ran smoothly, and Caroline for making sure the Prosecco was flowing and the guests were kept happy in the evening! All the way along we were made to feel welcome and comfortable and nothing was ever too much trouble. The food was fantastic as expected - we had lots of positive comments from guests about the wedding breakfast and the evening food. Thank you to all the staff who put such hard work and effort into making the food so delicious! Also, the bedrooms are superb and we had lots of nice comments about them as well. So thanks to all in the team who had a hand in making our day so lovely and memorable. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Cock O' Barton as a wedding venue in future.

Perfect wedding day!!

Thank you for everything in making our wedding perfect!! It was an amazing day and everything ran as planned. The venue itself is fantastic and all the staff were very attentive especially Jane who looked after us throughout the day. I really could not have wished for better people or a nicer venue and would recommend you to anybody. It was lovely to meet you all and it was a pleasure dealing with you throughout the planning stages. Hopefully we will see you again soon when we visit the Cock O'Barton.

Heartfelt thank you...

Myself and John just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you for making our wedding day so perfect. We are enjoying our honeymoon and still keep reliving our fabulous wedding day. The venue was amazing, decorations looked wonderful and the bedrooms were so lovely and comfy. Everyone at COB made sure our day ran smoothly, which it did indeed. Even the weather held up until the evening. So many of our guests commented on the beautiful venue and delicious food. They couldn't get over how much tasty food there was and loved our alternative canapés and BBQ. Myself and John barely ate anything on the day and regretted it the following day. So we will definitely be back soon for the amazing food. Your recommendation of the DJ from Indemand was fantastic as he played the music that we wanted. Your staff were captured on film dancing away which showed that they love their job. Nothing was ever too much for them and they were so accommodating. Please pass on our sincere thanks. We are so happy that my mum told us about your beautiful venue and we can't thank you enough for making our wedding the best day ever. My family loved how the bedrooms were all together and we could gather on the courtyard. They are already planning on staying at COB next year for our 1 year anniversary!

What a Superb find!

Thank you so much to all the team at CoB who looked after us yesterday. Lydia and her team could not be more attentive and they couldn’t do enough for us – it made for a brilliant day and every one remarked what a fantastic place it was and what a superb “find” it was. We were also very lucky with the weather, having a perfect autumnal day, allowing us all to sit out in the sunshine before the meal, and in between the meal and the evening gathering. We were very fortunate. Also, please will you pass on our thanks to the Chef and his team – the food was faultless and absolutely amazing both during the day and in the evening. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food, and again everyone was very complimentary, and the service was fantastic. The full English breakfast the next day was also superb. We all went home stuffed!!! We will definitely be returning to celebrate our first anniversary next year – if not before! We couldn’t have held our wedding in a better location – and your private room – with our small party on one large square table was genius! Once again, thank you so much for making our day so very very special.

Magical wedding day

Just a quick email to thank the team for such a magical wedding day! Special thanks for all the help with the planning from day one to the execution on the day. You truly were a god send for us and nothing was ever too much trouble. I really can not thank you enough, I’m such a control freak but you made me feel very much at ease in handing over. We have to say a special thanks to Rachel and Dave. They were amazing and again nothing too much trouble. You are very lucky to have them on your team and I really don’t think the day would have been the same without them. From the meal the night before, to a few morning stressful situations to making everyone feel so welcome and relaxed for the rest of the day and evening. The rooms were great and the venue set up looked amazing! We could not have picked a better venue to hold our day. It was absolutely perfect and we only have you and the team to thank for that. We wish you a very successful 2018.

Attention to detail detail second to non

What can we say, the Cock O Barton was a great venue to get married, 110 guests with everything falling into place. Alethea was awesome and helped with all the planning of our special day and took the stress from us and made things work as we wanted. The service and attention to detail that was provided on our big day was second to non. Jane is a great master of ceremonies and helped everyone through the day. The food was exceptional and all the guest commented on how attentive all the staff where. We would highly recommend new Brides & Grooms to plan their special day at the Cock O Barton. We loved our day and have great memories of our wedding.

THE most perect day

Yesterday we got married and had our reception at the Cock O'Barton. It was THE most perfect and amazing day of our lives and every single member of the team made it so. From Sian and Alethea organising us and making us feel confident and excited from the word go, to Rachel, Hope, Jane and Louis making us feel at ease before and on the day. The amazing chefs and kitchen staff who fed our day guests with exquisite fine dining and our evening guests with yummy fish and chips, and the waiters/waitresses & bar attendants who served everyone in a calm, positive and professional manner... nothing was too much trouble and everyone had a smile on their face. The cleaning team who prioritised us to ensure I could get dressed in peace and a beautiful room and everyone who contributed to the grounds, the rooms, the pub itself etc... also need to be mentioned as it was just the most impressive team effort. The recommendations provided for suppliers were ace, in particular for Indemand DJs, whose service was perfect in every way. We are so grateful that we chose here to have our special day and can't wait to continue going regularly in the future. Great work, guys. Keep it up.

The most amazing day

Hazel and I got married at the COB last weekend and had the most amazing day. The venue looked amazing, the food incredible and the staff simply couldn’t do enough for us. We need to thank Alethea, Sian, Rachel and the whole team for making the day so special for us. Thank you so much!
