About

If you are looking for the perfect setting for a relaxed celebration surrounded by nature, look no further than Somerley Woodland Weddings in Ferndown, Dorset. Part of the Somerly estate, this is a property steeped in history. Going back a hundred years and the subsequent passing of hands, the current custodians - the 7th Earl and Countess of Normanton - have lovingly restored Somerly House. To enable its continued restoration and preservation, the venue is available for exclusive hire for milestone events, festivals, and private stays.

Facilities and Capacities

Located under a canopy of trees is the idyllic spot for your ceremony or blessing. Say “I do” against towering Douglas Firs in a pretty clearing within the woodland. Here, even the flora and fauna will act as witnesses to your union. To host your reception, a giant tipi or a clear-span marquee can be set up on the sweeping lawns. Capable of accommodating up to 200 guests, this option is well-suited for larger gatherings. As the night falls, the woodland becomes that much more romantic and you can dance the night away under twinkling fairy lights, uplit trees, and fire pits. If you wish to stay on, not wanting the magic to end, you and your guests are welcome to spend the night on-site, courtesy of their amazing glamping facilities. If you wish to, you can host indoor events in the regal Georgian home. Licenced for ceremonies and receptions of up to 140 people, there are many function rooms within that you may use. These include the East and West Libraries, the sunlit Drawing Room, and the incredible Gallery. Commanding panoramic views of the parkland, River Avon, and the New Forest, the beauty is unparalleled. With nine beautifully appointed bedrooms in the main house and another four on-site, they invite you to make a wedding weekend of it and savour every moment.

Services Offered

There is a resident event coordinator who will help organise the event from start to finish. You can even avail of the in-house Master of Ceremony or Toastmaster to help seamlessly transition from one program to the next. The in-house culinary team is equally adept and will surely take you and your guests on a gastronomic journey.
