Venue

The Shermanbury Place Estate is a marquee and tent wedding venue in the West Sussex countryside. The secluded estate includes arable farmland, tranquil woodland, a 12th-century church, watermeadows, and abundant wildlife. The team's versatile approach means we can help you curate your dream reception in a venue surrounded by expansive hay meadows, a trickling stream, and views of the South Downs.

Available from May-September, the Party Paddock offers a blank canvas to let your imagination run riot, with photogenic nature-filled backdrops aplenty. From a BBQ in a circus tent to a sit-down banquet in a marquee - all suppliers are your free choice, and the opportunities are endless.

The venue is pet-friendly so that four-legged family members can join the celebrations.

Facilities

1.5-acre paddock, 100 guests, parking for 50 cars, meadow available for camping.

Dry hire facility - the choice of marquees, caterers, florists, etc., is yours. However, we do have a list of recommended, local and trusted suppliers.

Our in-house event and wedding management team can handle the strain and stress for you. Or you can manage the whole thing yourself.

St Giles 12th century church next door (handy if Great Granny insists on some religion in return for footing the booze bill!)

Please note: we are a new venue, taking bookings from summer 2025. Current photos were taken recently - updated images will be posted when the weather improves.

From 2026 - The House and Gardens will be available for wedding photos.

History

We hope you feel the same magical connection to the land. Once upon a time, The Paddock was a holding pen,or pound, for drovers en route to market with their sheep or cattle. A magnificent ash tree now stands in that space. In the 19th Century, the paddock was the Glebe of the estate, with orchards and vegetable gardens to feed the labourers. In World War 2, the Canadian army built Nissen huts in the paddock to use as bunkers. In the late 20th Century, the area was a stable yard with an exercise ring for horses. Recently, scrub and excess trees have been removed, grass seed planted, and it is now a dedicated events field, waiting for your imagination to be unleashed for your special day!

Located south of Horsham, West Sussex, Shermanbury Place is a stunning canvas for you to bring your wedding vision to life.

Wonderful Venue & Fantastic Memories

We love Shermanbury and will treasure our memories of our joint 50th party forever! It is such a beautiful setting and a blank canvas that you really can make your event what you want.

Antonia and her team could not have been more helpful with helping to make arrangements for the party and even suggested fun activities to keep the kids and teens occupied. It was so easy getting everything set up - it all went so smoothly and the weather was amazing.

The camping was an added bonus as it meant that we could all stay together (although some did retreat to local hotels and B&Bs) and we carried on the celebrations by the campfire long after the DJ had gone home!

It really was such a perfect evening - it will be hard to top!

A Charming Manor with Space to Celebrate

A few years ago we celebrated our children’s graduation at this beautiful old manor, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect location. The grounds are incredibly spacious, surrounded by stunning nature, making it ideal for a day outdoors. There was plenty of room for the children to run around and play — we even had slides and bouncy castles brought in, which fit perfectly on the large lawn.

The setting was fantastic for adults as well. We were able to organise a barbecue, enjoy music, and relax in a truly picturesque atmosphere. The combination of history, charming architecture, and open space created a memorable and authentic British outdoor party experience.

If you’re looking for a venue that offers fresh air, beautiful scenery, and everything you need for a great celebration, this manor is an excellent choice. Highly recommended!

Farmer / Venue Owner

After an unexpected family event, I took over running the family farm in 2022 with no handover, training or knowledge.

As a family, we have lots of experience hosting events at Shermanbury: fashion shows and corporate training days to school leavers parties and even my own 18th birthday and many years later - my wedding!

As a former live events and TV producer, I love nothing better than organising big gatherings, getting people together and having fun in the process!

We set up and created the Party Paddock at Shermanbury Place, with this in mind, and we look forward to sharing our land with you, for your special day!

Personal Assistant & Head Gardener

Yasmin organised her own marquee wedding locally, and knows what it takes to create a fun party vibe.

Whilst "Personal Assistant & Head Gardener" is Yasmin's official title, she is actually so much more!

She supports Antonia in the office with admin, health & safety, event planning, finance, marketing, strategy... the list is endless.

Yasmin's gardening role involves managing the 6 acres of garden, which include orchards, rockery, extensive lawns and the fruit and veg in the walled kitchen. She manages our trainee gardeners and oversees our volunteer days.

Meanwhile she can also herd cattle and sheep to their correct enclosures, wield heavy garden machinery and is the go-to when none of us can remember which type of fuel goes in which machine (FYI it's 2 stroke for the lawnmower and 4 stroke for the auger)
