Created in the 18th century by the Hon. Charles Hamilton, Painshill is one of Britain's finest surviving landscape gardens. With its picturesque lake, enchanting follies, romantic ruins and spectacular views, the landscape provides an unforgettable backdrop for your special day.

Weddings at Painshill take place between May and September, offering couples the opportunity to celebrate surrounded by the beauty of the landscape during the warmer months.

Whether you're dreaming of an intimate ceremony in the magical Crystal Grotto, exchanging vows overlooking the lake at the Gothic Temple, or celebrating with family and friends in the private Walled Garden, Painshill offers a beautiful setting to make your wedding your own.

Facilities and Capacity

The Gothic Temple – Up to 120 guests

Overlooking Painshill's beautiful Serpentine Lake, the Gothic Temple is a striking and romantic setting for your wedding ceremony. With its elegant architecture and sweeping views across the historic landscape, it offers a memorable location to exchange your vows.

The surrounding views and Great Lawn approach provides a wonderful setting for photographs and celebrating with your guests following the ceremony.

The Crystal Grotto – Up to 16 guests

For couples seeking something truly extraordinary, Painshill's famous Crystal Grotto offers an intimate and magical ceremony setting.

Hidden within the landscape, this remarkable 18th-century folly features sparkling crystals, dramatic rock formations and shimmering pools of water, creating an enchanting atmosphere for exchanging your vows.

The Crystal Grotto is available for wedding ceremonies on weekdays only.

The Walled Garden – Up to 150 guests

Celebrate your wedding breakfast and evening reception in Painshill's beautiful private Walled Garden.

This secluded outdoor space provides a wonderful blank canvas for creating a celebration that reflects your personal style.

With space for a marquee, dining and entertainment, the Walled Garden offers the flexibility to plan everything from a relaxed garden celebration to an elegant wedding reception.

Services Offered

At Painshill, we understand that every wedding is different, which is why we offer the flexibility to book a ceremony only, a reception only, or combine both for your wedding day.

Our Walled Garden is offered on a dry-hire basis, giving you the freedom to work with your chosen suppliers and create a celebration that is personal to you. We can also provide a list of recommended suppliers to help with your planning.

For all wedding options, a golf buggy and driver can be arranged to take you around the landscape for photographs with your chosen photographer. Discover beautiful backdrops including the romantic Ruined Abbey, Serpentine Lake and the iconic Five Arch Bridge, famously featured in Bridgerton.
