Tipis at Mapledurham - A premium outdoor tipi venue
Just an hour outside London and nestled within the Thames Valley against the backdrop of a 12th-century Oxfordshire estate, Tipis at Mapledurham blends the beauty of outdoor weddings with the comfort and atmosphere of a luxury permanent space.
Unlike other tipi venues, couples have the luxury of not worrying about the weather and always gazing at the view. The 30m wide oak framed moveable panoramic windows are adaptable to all weather conditions flooding the space with soft, natural light. Our 500m² tipi venue for up to 160 guests formally seated features:
- Accessible wooden flooring throughout
- A built-in wooden stage and large circular bar
- A large back-of-house area for caterers
- Luxury shepherd hut restrooms, including a diabled and inclusive loo, and a cloakroom
- Customisable furniture including reclaimed tables, dining chairs, lounge seating, barrels and stools, and soft furnishings
- AV, renewable power, water mains, and cleaning
- A warm, romantic ambience enhanced by fairy lights, wagon wheel chandeliers and handmade biofuel firepits
- Wedding planning support and on-site management

Set-up & Take-down Access
All bookings have the following access times as standard to take away the stress on your big day:
- Access from 12.00 to 16.00 the day before your event to do pre-event preparations.
- Access from 09.00 to 23.30 on the day of your event with music off at 11pm.
- Access from 09.00 to 11.00 the day after your event to collect any remaining items and decorations.
What is not included:
- Food: We understand the significance of food in making your event special, and our goal is to cater to your preferences. With the uniqueness of each event in mind, we don't offer any food options but provide a list of aligned and approved caterers for you to choose from.
- Evening Entertainment: Our venue has a large stage and roomy dance floor, which take up an entire Giant Hat tipi with integrated lighting, providing an ideal setting for your chosen entertainers. This flexibility caters to a variety of preferences, accommodating live bands, DJs, or unique performances.
- Flowers / Additional Decorations: Recognising the distinctive nature of every event, we provide a diverse array of recommended suppliers specialising in floral arrangements and decorations. While you're not obligated to choose from our suggestions, each recommendation is carefully selected for its quality. This approach empowers clients to collaborate directly with these experts, guaranteeing a personalised and unique atmosphere for their special occasion.
- Overnight Accommodation: While the main house at the Estate is currently not designed for overnight guests and is closed to the public, we offer a list of local accomodation suggestion.
- Photographer / Videographer: While we do have a dedicated on-site content creator at all events, they move intermittently throughout the day with a primary focus on capturing compelling content for Tipis at Mapledurham. However, especially for Weddings, we recommend considering hiring an additional photographer or videographer to meet your specific event requirements, ensuring a personalised touch that aligns perfectly with your vision and preferences. Rest assured, you will have complete access to all the content we generate.
- Transport: Guest transportation is crucial for a seamless event experience. While a car park is available, we strongly recommend shared travel to minimise the environmental impact. Book minibuses from Reading statrion or arrive in style by boat down the River Thames.
Sustainability at Mapledurham
We're a Certified B Corporation verified for our high standards of social and environmental performance. We're a member of the Race to Zero campaign and have been measuring and reducing our emissions in line with net zero since 2021, and investing in verified nature based solutions. Environmental impact guides our decision making and is embedded into our Policies and KPIs. We have a long list of low carbon solutions that we implement at our venue on our website these include; minimised event travel, considered materials, fossil free energy and tools, screened suppliers, and thorough waste systems.
Mapledurham Estate features the oldest working watermill on the thames, a biomas boiler creating heat from woodchips, and an anaerobic digestion plant creating heat and power from cow slurry.
