stunning venue - exclusive use - everything catered for

Best day ever!! This exclusive use venue is absolutely stunning inside and out and makes you feel very special. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and the day couldn't have been any better. As the bride I had nothing to worry about except getting ready and getting married! Everything you need can be included and sourced by them, or their suppliers and they couldn't do more to help. I also thought it was very reasonably priced compared with similar venues, although we did get married in January so got a deal - I can see why it's booked up well in advance! Everything from my first visit to the dedicated wedding planner and coordinator on the day - exceptional service and made to feel special, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms looked amazing and the staff dealt with everything throughout the day and evening. The 12 bedrooms in the manor are also beautiful and very comfortable. So many rooms for you to use and all of it looked stunning!! Couldn't recommend this venue more, it was perfect and we had the best day we could have wished for.

Mess from start to finish

* The breakfast was brought into the bridal cottage where we were getting ready but there was absolutely nowhere to put it. They desperately need to get some tables! The bride should not have to be running around the cottage the morning of her wedding trying to find tables to put things on.

* Cereal served without bowls, bread and jam served with no butter and cold tea & coffee. My daughter had to eat cereal from a coffee cup!

* Someone came to me at 10am on the morning of my wedding whilst I was literally sat in hair and makeup to say there was a problem with my playlist. The stress and anxiety this caused me was completely unbearable. They had the playlist for weeks and could have checked it and spoken to me at any point before then but no, they waited until the morning of the wedding!! I had to then wait over an hour until a staff member came back to me to say they’d got all the songs from YouTube instead…..this wasn’t the end of the issues with music.

* A guest and his car from the day before was allowed to park outside the window to the bridal cottage and was able to look in and watch us all talking and getting ready whilst he was loading his car. It was uncomfortable and felt invasive. People shouldn’t have been allowed to park there.

* Two staff members who had brought the breakfast in, opened a shut bathroom door in the bridal cottage without knocking and disturbed my poor 11 year old daughter who was sat on the toilet at the time! She was absolutely mortified I was yelling at them to stop when they went to open the door but it was too late.

* The corsage and flower girl basket were missing from the honeymoon suite and I had to send the best man hunting them down. Considering they were in the same box as the bouquets, this shouldn’t have happened.

* Someone told me they would come to get me for the registrar meeting, this didn’t happen and I had to send my maid of honour down to check what was happening as I couldn’t just leave in case my husband was still around somewhere. This caused me to be almost 15 minutes late to the ceremony.

* The music was a complete nightmare, my husbands big entrance with his chosen song didn’t happen because they screwed up the music so badly that adverts were playing, again this is because they waited until the morning of the wedding to come to me about issues. He just had to walk in with his boys to no music and that’s when he saw the other problems that him and the groomsmen then had to try and fix quickly.

* My hand crafted archways were a total fail! They were stood constructed in my house on and off for weeks even months with not one single problem yet one night in storage at the venue and they both collapsed. They actually left one archway in such a way that guests had to duck under it to get to their seats. For my entrance Our friend and groomsman had to hold it up for me so I could walk under it which ruined my entrance and was rather embarrassing. When I got home and put the arch together it was broken beyond repair!

* My own music entrance was a complete disaster and ruined the experience for me because once again, the playlist wasn’t checked before the day and you had to use YouTube, adverts kept playing and I had to tell the tech lady myself just to turn the volume down for the advert rather than just keep restarting it.

* My hand crafted obelisks were supposed to be staggered alternately up the aisle so that I could avoid knocking them over with my dress but they were not, guests had to hold them in place while I made my entrance.

* The plans in my decor list very clearly stated that cake was going to be cut and served to guests in the cake boxes with little spoons I provided, straight after it was cut, during the drinks reception. The cake was taken away and we didn’t see it again until 9pm that night but which time it wasn’t as fresh.

* The Photo Booth equipment wasn’t where it was meant to be for my friend set upon the morning. He went to the Rock bar as requested of him, spoke to a staff member but there was no sign of it. It turned up just as my husband was waiting to see the registrar by which time it was too late for him to sort out properly and had to be done at the party.

* The bin I purchased for the crispwall was nowhere to be found, it was brought to the venue the day before, handed to a staff member where it was shown that underneath was written what it was. This meant guests having to find somewhere to dispose of crisp packets. It Never was found.

* My late dad’s jacket was not put in the right place during the ceremony and had to be moved to the right place by the groom before I entered.

* There were pictures of my dad and grandparents that were supposed to be displayed at the ceremony then moved to the wedding breakfast along with my dad’s jacket but were not there. They were taken straight to the ballroom so I didn’t get to see them before I got married. This broke my heart.

* The chair sashes were not tightened up and all of them were falling to the floor within minutes of guests sitting down for dinner. Numerous guests tightened their own chair sashes and then they stayed put. They shouldn’t have had to do that.

* At 11:30pm on night of our wedding, whilst we were in bed as newly wed couple two staff members had the audacity to knock on our door, then tried to open it (thankfully it was locked) even after being told “no thanks” and to go away; only to knock again 5 mins later for me to have to open the door to find them wanting to introduce the night porter because they had forgotten to earlier in the evening. This might actually be the most unbelievable part of our day to be honest. At that point on our wedding day we didn’t really give a damn who the night porter was, we were trying to enjoy some privacy as a newly married couple and I was furious at having my time with my new husband disturbed to answer the door in my damned underwear!! Who in their right mind would disturbed newly weds in their honeymoon suite at 11:30pm at night!

* Our personalised neon light that I had made especially for the day wasn’t used anywhere and also wasn’t given back to us until we chased them a couple of weeks later.

* Our 3ft high wooden love letters that my husband so pain stakingly made by hand for our wedding came back damaged, with chipped corners, split joints and wires ripped off.

* On unloading our items back at home there was a number of items missing.

On our wedding night, at 3am when I should have been sound asleep, I was actually on the balcony crying my eyes out because over two years of planning partly felt like a waste of time, money and effort. I hand crafted every aspect of our wedding day from the bouquets to the invitations and all the decor. I did a beautiful job with the planning and it was mostly ruined by the venue.

I sent an email to the venue a week after the wedding once I had gathered my thoughts and they accepted that they were to blame for the issues listed and gave us a 7% refund which at the time I accepted but looking back, it was very minor and did not makeup for the day not being how we envisioned. In hindsight It was a paltry offering and we should let have accepted it.

I fully expected things to go wrong, it’s a wedding and nothing ever goes fully to plan. However the things that went wrong were unacceptable, avoidable and day spoiling for me and my husband. It left us with less than perfect memories of what should have been a magical day. I didn’t expect perfection, but I didn’t expect this either.

The most perfect wedding venue

Manor By The Lake was the most perfect wedding venue – we honestly wish we could do it all over again! From the moment we first visited, Siobhan and the team made us feel completely at ease, and on the big day they went above and beyond in every way.

Everything ran so smoothly, and every detail was handled with such genuine care. The event managers were kind and attentive, the bar and wait staff were fantastic (and even joined in the dancing, which our guests loved!), and the food was absolutely incredible – people are still talking about it months later.

Our day felt magical from start to finish, and that was in no small part thanks to the wonderful MBTL team. We couldn’t recommend them highly enough – truly the dream wedding venue.

Exceptional Venue!

Booking with Manor by the Lake was the best decision we made! They were wonderful and incredibly helpful throughout the entire experience! They were very flexible, met all of our needs and on the day exceeded expectations for how they tackled unexpected hurdles that cropped up! Could not recommend them enough

The best day ever - organised in 6 weeks!

I cannot recommend this STUNNING venue highly enough. Tina, our wedding coordinator was an excellent organiser from start to finish. We viewed the venue having seen that a day was available at a discounted rate only 7 weeks ahead of time. When we viewed the venue, we were besotted straight away and booked the date then and there. On the day, Sophia did a great job of managing the occasion which allowed me and my husband to relax and enjoy the experience.

My guests and I loved the food both for the wedding breakfast and the evening meal. The overnight guests also enjoyed a top notch breakfast in the morning. We were also treated to bottles of champagne on ice on the house as they felt the rooms weren't up to their usual standard however, we couldn't fault them!

Overall, an amazing day - 5 stars easily.

Absolute dream wedding venue!

Manor by the Lake provided the absolute dream setting for our wedding, and the incredible team made it a day we'll never forget. From the very beginning, Siobhan, the planning extraordinaire, was there with us every step of the way. Her patience with our endless questions (and there were many!) was a godsend.

The venue itself is beyond stunning. We had ambitious plans to utilize nearly all the rooms and fill the gorgeous grounds, and the Manor by the Lake team embraced the challenge with open arms. Their flexibility and creativity ensured every corner was picture-perfect and the atmosphere was magical.

On the wedding day, Rachel, the wedding manager, took the reins and made sure everything ran flawlessly. It truly felt effortless, which is a testament to her meticulous planning and calm demeanor. Rachel and the team truly smashed it!

And let's not forget the food! Our guests couldn't stop raving about the delicious dishes from the canapes to the wedding breakfast to the evening food. Manor by the Lake truly delivered a five-star experience on all fronts.

Thank you, Siobhan, Rachel, and the entire Manor by the Lake team, for turning our fairytale wedding into a reality. We are eternally grateful for your hard work, dedication, and for making our special day absolutely perfect.

We're already looking forward to returning for their festive Christmas / Valentine's lunch :D

The most beautiful venue

Wow - what a perfect wedding venue! I just cannot thank the team for everything they did to help our wedding day flow as well as it did. I didn’t feel stressed as I knew the team had everything covered, they supported me in trusting the weather when not everyone agreed and knew that was what we wanted so they found a way to make it happen - and the sunshine remained all afternoon! Nothing went wrong (that I’m aware of anyway) and most importantly, I would not have changed a thing. Rachael is an asset to the manor team, I couldn’t and wouldn’t have wanted to have anyone else supporting me on my special day. We appreciate you all so much and cannot wait to come back again for a special event

Wedding 5th April 2024

Craig & I got married at Manor by the Lake on 5th April 2024. We only had 5 weeks to arrange the whole wedding and can honestly say that all the team, Becca, Rach & Tina especially was so accommodating & helpful throughout the process! Sadly due to my dad having cancer, they did everything in their power to make it such a special day for us. One of the main reasons that swayed us more towards them was not only because of the beautiful venue but how mindful they were to help us as a family. Nothing was ever too much trouble. We also brought some of our own decorations expecting Craig was the one to set it up in the morning, but that wasn’t the case! They did it all for us. I wish we could do it all over again! The food was phenomenal, EVERYONE raved about how nice it was! Thank you to all the staff who helped make our day as special as it could be. I’d like to say a massive thank you to Tina, for helping make this happen & helping accommodate us with whatever we needed. Becca, my email queen & organiser, you were fabulous from start to finish and couldn’t believe you were new to the manor! And of course Rach, top notch with timings, decorating & helping my dad before the ceremony, without you the day wouldn’t have gone as smoothly as it did. I cannot thank you all enough. Lots of love to you all, from Craig & Kim

Couldn’t have asked for a better day!

The staff at MBTL were amazing from the beginning of our journey with them (initial viewing) till our wedding day, and after. They couldn’t do enough to accommodate everything we needed and the venue captured everything we wanted our day to be. Extremely grateful to have had our special day at Manor By The Lake! I’m sure we’ll be celebrating future events there, too!

Stunning venue and great team.

After seeing the venue and meeting Emma we reserved our date by the time we were back on the motorway!

These guys were great from start to finish, they looked at all of the little details and took a lot of the stress from the planning.

The venue is absolutely stunning and having the whole venue to ourself for the day just makes so much sense! All of the guests complimented how amazing the venue was. The food was also amazing as was the accommodation.

Couldn't recommend highly enough! Couldn't imagine having gotten married anywhere else.

Absolutely perfect!

Manor by the Lake were outstanding. From the first time we visited the venue, through the planning stage and on the wedding day itself they were amazing. Nothing felt like too much trouble for them and they were so kind and helpful at every stage. We had the best day of our lives and a lot of this was due to Manor by the Lake. Thank you!

Everything you could you wish for

From our initial contact with Manor by the Lake we noticed how prompt and efficient their communications were via email.
We were then shown round the venue by the lovely Tina. As we were shown around the venue and talked through our endless options we quickly imagined how our day could look there.
We secured our date and began planning. This was made incredibly easy but constant communications and easy to use portals for planning and payments.
In the lead up to the day, Emma was our co-ordinator who couldn't have been more helpful making sure that every little detail was laid out and even made some great suggestions that wouldn't have crossed my mind.
We made full use of the Bridal cottage and the Groom's lodge the night before the wedding, I would strongly suggest this option!
Both our day & night coordinators on the wedding day deserve a special mention, from checking in to make sure everything was going as expected, ensuring we had time together as a couple, to making sure I got some of our evening food!
And lastly, on the subject of food, just wow! Every single one of our guests were blown away by the food. Many saying it was the best wedding food they'd ever had.
I know it's a long review but I couldn't do Manor by the Lake justice in any fewer words.
