If you want the best wedding day ever, we cannot recommend Fennes enough!

First of all, a mahoosive big up to Sophie, our wedding planner, making the whole experience from start to end the most amazing, smooth and stress-free time, plus the fact she is just one of the loveliest people we've had the pleasure to meet! Any question I had was answered so quickly, anything we wanted, Sophie made it happen - there are just no words for how amazing Sophie made the whole wedding.

The venue is just stunning, so much character inside the beautiful house in all the rooms, a choice of two marquees decked out with magical lights, the honeymoon suite with the swankiest copper bath tub you've ever seen and the garden/grounds that are just so perfectly kept - it is just picture perfect!

The service throughout the whole day of the wedding was just top notch! We didn't have to worry about anything, I mean anything. Everything was just perfect, from the decor being put out in the morning, the wedding parties getting ready if they needed anything, to the wedding breakfast service, not to mention how many people have said to us the food was one of the best they've had at any wedding before (highly recommend the Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert).

We just can't recommend Fennes enough, I say again, if you want the best wedding day ever, please just book Fennes cos you will not regret it.

We recently had the pleasure of celebrating a wedding at Fennes, and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The venue itself is stunning – beautifully kept grounds, charming spaces for both the ceremony and reception, and plenty of picturesque backdrops for photographs.

The team at Fennes were professional, attentive, and genuinely caring throughout the whole process. They made everything run smoothly on the day, and no detail was overlooked.

What a place to get married! We tied to knot at Fiennes on 30th March 2025. The attention to detail, preparation, and overall service was absolutely amazing!
We initially went for a viewing and fell in love with it, so booked our venue with only 6 months to go! We were allocated Vicky as our wedding coordinator and she was a treasure to have by our sides! The meeting to the lead up to ensure the day went smoothly, the food tasting experience, unlimited visits to the venue (within reason) - we even had our pre-wedding photoshoot at the venue so our photographer could get used the to venue!
On the day, there was a slight hiccup with a lack of water in the accommodations, however we got a percentage of the room cost refunded back to us.
Vicky was there on the day, ensuring our day ran smoothly, alongside many other incredible Fences staff! The lady behind the bar was also brilliant!
We haven't heard a bad word from our day, just how beautiful the wedding was and the grounds were!

We recently had the pleasure of celebrating our wedding at Fennes, and we could not be happier with our choice. From the moment we first visited, we were captivated by the elegance of the manor and it's grounds.

The staff at Fennes were professional and friendly. They made the planning process as smooth as it could be and our coordinator (Sophie) was always available to answer our questions and provide valuable suggestions that enhanced our special day.

On the day of the wedding, everything ran seamlessly. The catering provided by Fennes was outstanding. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the food and amazing service. The team were very accommodating for the various dietary needs.

We booked the Fennes DJ, Jack Berry, for the evening. He didn't just play the list of songs that we provided but was really in touch with the vibe of our guests and just knew what to play at the right time. He also added in songs that really fit the mood as we danced the night away!

Overall, our experience at Fennes was nothing short of magical. The combination of a breath taking location, exceptional service, and attention to detail made our wedding day unforgettable. We are incredibly grateful to the entire team at Fennes for making our dream wedding a reality. We highly recommend this venue to any couple looking for a perfect place to celebrate their love.

Fennes, Braintree was the one and only venue we ever looked at. Before viewing if for the first time we were determined to be 'open minded' but the entrance alone took our breath away and safe to say, we paid the deposit in the car on the way home! Every single member of staff we dealt with along the way were faultness, from accounts to the wedding coordinators themselves. We had Sophie Richell as our Wedding Coordinator and it was so easy to find comfort and trust in her with our big day. No query was ever too big or too small and rest assure- You would be in fantastic hands!
The grounds and the house were the perfect background for our photos and full of character, the food was absolutely fabulous - Smoked Salmon starter and Beef fillet were insanely delightful (we went with a mix across the menus).
The long and the short of it, if I could do it all again at Fennes, I'd be back there tomorrow.

Fennes proved to be everything we could gave wished for, for our daughter’s wedding. The venue itself, with the listed house, and the two beautiful marquee areas beyond, deliver everything you could want for a wedding day delight.
The superb and beautiful rooms for the bridal party to get ready on the day are beautifully appointed for shower, hair and make up requirements. It is a great addition for stress free prep.
Four beautiful bedrooms are available within the house for an overnight stay on the wedding day, together with other rooms for special guests, within the grounds of the venue. The bride and groom have use of a totally separate, spacious and wonderful cottage.
The grounds are stunning and create a perfect backdrop for photos.

Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, both in the build up to the day, or the day itself. You have your own personal wedding planner who guides you through everything you need. Nothing is a chore, everything is organised carefully and with precise planning.

In short - you will not regret booking Fennes - it offers everything you think you need and so much more!

We loved our wedding day at Fennes! Everything ran smoothly on the day thanks to our wedding coordinator, Sophie Richell. It was a perfect day and our guests only had good things to say about the venue.

Absolutely disgusted with the rooms. Massively overpriced, very small room with nowhere to put clothes, had to put them on the floor. Electrics didn’t work, no tv and light showing through blinds all night. Worst place we have stayed in the UK

Venue was lovely but was not amazing - you have to dress the venue up to get more of an impact.
Hidden costs - they attract customers with their cheap packages and then smack on the costs of every little item, even their chairs cost £7.00 each to hire. Be warned, it is not a package deal you're getting by the time you add everything up!
Customer service - absolutely below acceptable standards.
From the beginning, my initial planning meeting I had to chase the venue to find out who my wedding planner was. They do contact you to chase you for money but when it is the other way round, they are no where to be seen.
During the planning process there was a list of things I was promised by a previous wedding planner only to be told they would not be willing to offer what was promised to me.
Then the wedding planner left meaning I had no argument at all. The wedding planning process, was so stressful with The Fennes that my hair was falling out. We were back and forth for weeks, if not months, to try and get the invoices straightened out with everything included.
I was embarrassingly told by friends and family that staff were miserable on the wedding day, none of which were smiling, which I'd caught in some of my wedding photos and videos.
My 5 year old had to sleep on a broken bed and had a bad back for 4 days.
In the mornings you have to be off the premises by 09:30. Whilst I was still trying to leave at 08:35, the next bridal party were already onsite and making a racket up the stairs to get into their rooms.
My mum who had paid the £600 refundable deposit ended up being refunded not 21 days after the wedding as stated in the contract but 8 days more than the 21 days. Might I add, they did not refund us - we had to chase them.

And finally, the worst part about this whole experience was asking the 'senior' manager to simply apologise for all of the stress and problems that have happened throughout (yes - I actually had to ask!!!) and the response I received was unprofessional, extremely rude and degrading. She basically was calling me an idiot in her own words and belittling me as though I was something on the bottom of her shoe.

Go by the previous reviews, my wedding planner changed twice throughout and they pride themselves on customer service but there was 0 service. They NEED new management.

So, would I recommend friends or family to use The Fennes? Absolutely not. However, if they had a change of staff and made their hidden costs known then the venue is okay for the average wedding.

We just wanted to say a HUGE thank you, for making our day perfect for us. Everything was just as we wanted and the day ran so smoothly and we have no doubt, that that was absolutely because of you! You were so calm and collected on the day that it put us both at ease! You were brilliant both before and on the day and we can't thank you enough!

We've had so many comments from our guests on how lovely the day was, from the venue, to the staff and of course the food. A few people even said that the food was the best wedding food they'd ever had and we would agree. It was delicious! Please can you pass on our thanks and compliments to the chefs!

We would also like to thank everyone involved, from the point of viewing the venue and booking it, to those working on the Planning Nights, up to and including those working on Tuesday. It's been a stress free process and a pleasure to organise our wedding with you all. We didn't feel stressed at any point and that was down to the fantastic team at Fennes - so thank you!!

We literally cannot thank you all enough for giving us the best day ever! We just can't believe that it's already been a week - we wish we could do it all again!!
