About

Christchurch Mansion is a red brick Tudor house set amid lovely parkland close to the centre of Ipswich. The mansion houses a museum showcasing fine art and period furniture, as well as a modern art gallery with changing exhibitions.

Christchurch Mansion is a 16th century Manor house set in a historic 100 acre park close to the centre of Ipswich.

In 1896 it opened as a free museum.

The rooms are furnished in various period styles from Tudor to Victorian. Christchurch Mansion today is home to an art gallery dedicated to the work of Suffolk artists.

Amongst the many works can be found the most significant collection of paintings by both Constable and Gainsborough outside of London.

Not only for weddings

We held our Baby naming ceremony and reception at Christchurch Mansion. The event was fantastic value for money. I don''t think people are aware the venue caters for such events. Thank you

Restrictions

You have to be aware of a few restrictions at Christchurch Mansion. Because it is open as a museum you cannot get in to set up the receptio until 5pm and if you have the wedding before that they do not close the house so you may have to walk through a few tourists. But the venue is stunning and very reasonably priced. If i wasn't getting married in winter (too dark for photos by 5pm) i would get married here.

Country location, right in the heart of town!

Christchurch Mansion sits within the ground of Christchurch Park which is right in the heart of Ipswich town center. It has characture and history but still being very easy to find and easy to reach whatever the method of transport. As the room that holds the licence for the Civil Ceremony is on the ground floor there is no problem for disabled guests and access to the park is also good. It has a great deal of parkland but has the town shops not even five minutes away. The venue has great photo ential although they do restrict where the photo's can be taken.
Other restrictions are in place such as no confetti but these restrictions are very easy to understand as the building is an original tourist attraction with a great deal of history.
