Iconic Celebrity Prenups: From Quirky Clauses to Cash Payouts
From Beyoncé to Brad Pitt, explore the most iconic celebrity prenups and the surprising clauses that protect their wealth and family
Prenups aren’t just for the wealthy (or cautious!) - but celebrity couples have certainly taken them to a whole new level. From billion-dollar protections to clauses you wouldn’t believe, these agreements show just how creative - and sometimes specific - love and money can get.
Here are some of the most iconic celebrity prenups ever signed:
1. Mark Zuckerberg & Priscilla Chan
Mark and Priscilla tied the knot in 2012 after nearly a decade of dating. Unlike many celebrity contracts, their prenup focused less on money and more on relationship rules. Clauses allegedly included no Facebook interference and guaranteed 100 minutes of one-on-one time each day plus a weekly date night. True love… with terms!
2. Khloé Kardashian & Lamar Odom
This famous Kardashian prenup reportedly included financial perks like $500,000 for each year married, a new car at the end of each lease, $5,000 monthly shopping allowance, and $1,000 per month for beauty and hair care. Lamar also reportedly granted Khloé court-side seats for all Lakers games and ownership rights to their shared home.
3. Brooklyn Beckham & Nicola Peltz
Ahead of their multi-million dollar wedding, the couple signed what some called “the mother and father of all prenups.” The agreement reportedly protected both sets of parents’ fortunes, including Nicola’s estimated £1.3 billion family wealth. Details remain private, but it’s safe to assume it’s airtight.
4. Beyoncé & Jay-Z
Beyoncé’s prenup with Jay-Z reportedly includes payments tied to their children and the length of their marriage: $5 million per child and $1 million for each year of marriage, for the first 15 years. After that, their post-nuptial agreement takes over, focusing on a 50-50 custody arrangement in the event of separation.
5. Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt
Their prenup reportedly prioritised their six children. Pre-marriage earnings remained separate, while other assets were placed into a joint trust fund for the children. The prenup supposedly included clauses on adultery, giving Angelina full custody if Brad cheated.
6. Catherine Zeta-Jones & Michael Douglas
Reports suggest that Catherine would receive $2.8 million for each year of marriage if they were to separate. Additionally, there is apparently a clause that grants her an extra $5 million if Michael were to cheat, classed as a 'straying fee'.
7. Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban
An alleged prenuptial agreement between the two would protect Nicole from any financial liability if Keith were guilty of using illegal drugs or drinking alcohol in excess. According to the Telegraph, Keith reportedly received between $600,000 and $900,000 for every year of marriage, but only if he stayed sober.
8. Katie Holmes & Tom Cruise
There have been several rumours about the prenuptial agreement between Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, including that it had restrictions on her spending habits, her outfits and that she'd receive compensation based on the number of children the union produced.
She was also rumoured to receive $3 million for every year they remained married, with a cap of $33m. If she'd stayed married to Tom for 11 years, she could have also gained a mansion in Montecito and half of Tom's fortune, however she left the marriage after six years and now has sole custody of their daughter.
9. Kim Kardashian & Kanye West
Arguably one of the most hotly anticipated celebrity weddings of all time, and one of the most-discussed celebrity relationships of all time, it's only natural that Kanye West and Kim Kardashian would have a prenuptial agreement in place.
Apparently, Kim stood to gain $1m per year of marriage, and her mother, Kris Jenner, was not to make any career decisions that might impact the couple. The couple divorced in 2022 after eight years of marriage.
10. Ice-T & Coco Austin
One of the weirdest and wildest celebrity prenups out there has to be the one that's reported to exist between rapper Ice-T and his wife Coco Austin. It's rumoured that their prenup gives him the rights to her implants - both breasts and buttocks - should they divorce. As it currently stands, the pair are still married and Coco's implants remain in place...
11. Gabrielle Union & Dwayne Ward
Gabrielle Union has been vocal about her regrets for not having a prenuptial agreement in place for her first marriage to NFL player Chris Howard in 2021. She said on The Arsenio Hall Show in 2014: "The biggest difference between this and the last marriage will be a prenup - at my insistence."
She noted that she needed to 'protect her stuff' and said she and her new husband, Dwayne Ward, would split bills 50/50.
12. Britney Spears & Sam Asghari
It's reported that before Britney Spears married Sam Asghari in 2022, he signed what he called an "ironclad prenup" in an Instagram post. He joked the agreement would protect his shoe collection and his Jeep.
The couple divorced after just over a year of marriage, and their assets were divided in line with their prenuptial agreement.
13. Jessica Biel & Justin Timberlake
According to the New York Daily News, there's an infidelity clause in Justin Timberlake's prenuptial agreement with Jessica Biel, which would see her netting half a million dollars if she's cheated on.
14. Gwen Stefani & Blake Shelton
It's reported that Gwen Stefani has a prenup in place with her second husband, Blake Shelton, which the couple spent a few months negotiating.
It's thought that she has this agreement in place after not having one in her first marriage to Gavin Rossdale, who was then entitled to half of the money and assets accumulated during their marriage. While they didn't agree to the 50/50 split of assets in the end, they did settle on shared joint custody of their three sons.
