Hi, I’m Josh – the guy behind Joshua Haken Photography.
I’m a documentary-style wedding photographer based in Oxford, and I believe wedding photography should feel natural. My approach is relaxed and unobtrusive—75% of the time I’m quietly capturing real, unfiltered moments; the other 25%, I’ll step in for the important shots like group photos and couple portraits.
You won’t find me shouting directions or staging fake laughs. Instead, I focus on capturing genuine emotion as it unfolds—so you can be fully present on your wedding day, without feeling like you’re in a photo shoot.
A bit about me:
Before photography, I served as a Royal Engineer in the Army for seven years, then retrained as a gas engineer. These days, you’ll find me shooting weddings across Oxfordshire and editing photos on my houseboat moored along the Thames. It’s been a journey, and I bring that calm, steady presence to every wedding I shoot.
Here’s what Olivia & Tom said about working with me:
“Josh made us feel at ease straight away when we first met him. He is friendly and well mannered. He also made my wife who is usually shy towards the camera feel very comfortable. I can’t thank Joshua enough! We have some incredible memories captured with gorgeous photos. Highly recommend.”
