J Photography is a Scarborough, North Yorkshire-based wedding and event photographer. My philosophy is that the best wedding photography is candid. It's when you're being yourself and forget all about the camera. It's all of those in-between moments. Not Planned. Not Posed. Just real moments captured in the most beautiful way possible.
Services Offered
J Photography offers various services that you can tailor to meet your needs. Owner Jay combines photojournalism and traditional photography styles to capture stunning candid images you will cherish for years. His unobtrusive approach allows him to blend into the background and document events as they unfold throughout the day. You probably won't even notice that he is there for the most part, so you can just relax and enjoy the occasion. He can provide additional hours on the day if required and is available for weddings throughout North Yorkshire and further afield by request.

What does the wedding package include?
High resolution and web ready photos delivered in a private online gallery. Free consultation process before you book. Engagement/Pre wedding shoots available as well as heirloom photo albums
How far in advance should I contact you?
8 weeks minimum. For best availability, please get in touch as soon as you can
Do you cover more than one wedding a day?
No
Can you travel?
Yes, north Yorkshire and the rest of the UK. Destination bookings covered too
What is the charge for travelling?
Dependent on the circumstances of you day. If I am able to travel to and from your venue in the same day (within reasonable time) there will be no additional charges for travel

What kind of technology do you use?
Digital
Do you use a specific technique or innovative approach?
My approach is very natural taking the time to document your day in a candid approach with an authentic and timeless edit. Each wedding is unique and I push to capture my couples personalities
What kind of equipment do you use?
I use multiple cameras and off camera flash when required. If the scenarios allow for an off camera flash to be setup in the room, I will use this approach when needed
Do you offer any tool to display the photos online?
Yes, private online galleries are my method of delivery via my website. These galleries can be used to download all photos, and be shared with family and friends as you choose
What's the delivery time for a photographic report?
2 months
Do you send all the photos taken?

Do you work alone or do you have a team of professionals?
Alone
In case of unforeseen circumstances, do you have a replacement photographer?

Do you have the rights to publish the wedding photos?

How do you charge extra time?
Extra time is usually agreed prior the wedding day. If for any reason this hasn't been done, I can be flexible and we can make arrangements post wedding day

Jay is an absolute star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I truly can’t recommend Jay enough, not only did he capture our day wonderfully but he captured the vibe & feeling with his photographs too! He put us at ease and gave us suggestions/poses whenever we needed them and always knew what was going on in the day working effortlessly with both my coordinator & content creator too, I wouldn’t hesitate recommending Jay to anyone else still looking for a photographer for their big day!

Vegas themed wedding
Jay is a fabulous photographer and wedding jedi, not only did he support us in taking the exact type of photos to capture our niche wedding he also guided us with our planning and kept us away from errors like waiting around and being late for the sake of photos, he is incredibly punctual and he will keep your guests in line to achieve the best group pictures! We would have had a totally different wedding if it hadn’t been for Jay and I don’t think anyone could’ve captured the memories in the same way, we are very grateful for your talent and love for photography!

A photographer with great vision and ideas!
I lost count the amount of times the words “awww” and “I love that picture” was used when we viewed our wedding album from Jay. He is seriously a genius behind the camera. From our engagement shoot to our wedding day, Jay really took care of us and made us feel comfortable. As we were based internationally, he made sure all our questions and any concerns were addressed so we could slide into our day with ease. We’re lucky to have found someone amazing like Jay to capture our magical day and hope we can work with him again in the future.

The most memorable day
Great experienced photographer, just made our wedding perfect.
After we got the pictures, we just couldn't decide which to post on social media, because were too many good photos!
Jay has the humour, the flexibility and he has the passion for photography, making him a great guy.
Recommend him not only for taking pictures, but the editing was superb, had the same vibe as the wedding venue.
The value for money was good and he even started earlier to make sure he makes our day perfect, and it was indeed! ❤️

Wedding photos
Jay was absolutely brilliant on our wedding day. There was a perfect mix of time spent between photos and chatting to our guests. As two people who are usually quite camera shy, we felt completely at ease with Jay. The photos blew us away and we are so happy with them! ❤️

What a fantastic guy!
It's really hard to make a decision on a photographer for your Wedding Day. We chose Jay after seeing his work at a couple of Wedding events and was really impressed! We are so glad we made this decision and can't fault him at all. He listened to what we wanted and didn't stop working hard all day. He is amazing photographer and a really great guy. Jay was amazing from start to finish with our wedding planning and on the day; we are so happy we chose J Photography and can highly recommend him. Our wedding day wasn’t ideal weather wise but Jay didn’t let this affect anything and we are absolutely amazed with the photos they are perfect! The perfect wedding photographer!
We cannot recommend Jay enough. He truly captured all the right moments without us even realising he was there, allowing us to just enjoy our day. His patience and professionalism were exceptional, and the photos turned out absolutely stunning—beyond anything we could have imagined. Especially the rain pictures (see attached!). Jay went above and beyond, not just with the photography but by being so helpful with everything throughout the day. He kept us updated both before and after the wedding, making the whole process stress-free. He also managed the group photos efficiently, ensuring everything ran smoothly. We’re so grateful for his hard work and couldn’t be happier with the results!

I'm Jay, a UK and destination wedding and event photographer, operating out of the picturesque North Yorkshire. Capturing the magic of special moments and turning them into timeless memories is my passion. As a proud father of one, I understand the importance of cherishing every precious moment, which is why I approach each event with dedication and creativity.
Beyond photography, I am an avid motor sport enthusiast, with a particular love for Formula 1. I also enjoy spending quality time with my family, especially taking our beloved cockerpoo, Bella, on long walks through the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. Music is another significant part of my life; I find joy in playing the guitar and exploring new melodies. Whether it's behind the lens or enjoying my hobbies, I bring enthusiasm and a heartfelt touch to everything I do.
