Meet the Team
I have been working in the music industry since graduating from Bathspa University College with an upper second class degree in Music Technology in 2003. I have been a performing musician, tutor and music educationalist for the last decade, performing regularly in various bands and solo, developing a career in music education and maintaining a private practice in and around Exeter in Devon, UK.
I live in Southwest England. Primarily a woodwind player, I have a first-class degree in music, post-graduate qualifications in Music Education, years of professional performing across the UK, and years of experience as composer, arranger, bandleader and teacher.
I have been playing Klezmer and Eastern European music for the past 20 years. My interest in this rich folk tradition began when I stayed in Greece, where I first encountered the intoxicating beauty of Balkan dance music and song. On returning to England, I pursued this further by studying the Klezmer repertoire and attending the annual Klezfests in London, learning techniques and ornamentation from great teachers such as Deborah Strauss and Alan Bern. More recently, I have immersed myself in Hungarian gypsy music, especially the music and songs originating from the villages of the Carpathian Basin of Central Europe.
