Longshore Drift, based in Sidmouth, Devon, offers exceptional music performances for weddings and other special events.
They are not your usual duo. The sound that they create is much bigger than it should be, in part due to the unusual combination of guitar, harmonica, cajon, stomp box, tambourine, shakers and occasionally a kazoo.
Steve is the main singer and guitarist, whilst Sy covers everything else, including backing vocals.
If you want a band who play the standard pub set list, then that is not these guys. No Wonderwall, Summer of 69, Mustang Sally or Mr Brightside. Instead, you will get a setlist of absolute bangers that everyone knows, but you don't hear other groups play. You can also request your favourite tracks, including Wonderwall, if you really insist! Pick your style, mood and theme, and Longshore can accommodate most things within reason.
For your big day, you can expect professionalism and a stress-free service. Both Steve and Sy have been involved in bands in pubs, clubs, festivals, private parties, weddings and corporate events for a number of years and have played at small intimate gigs through to over 10'000 people in stadiums in the UK, Europe, Singapore and Mauritius.
Whatever your requirements are, Longshore can meet and exceed them. From a pianist playing in the background to recorded music for the walk down the aisle, hymns during the service, to the full reception singing and dancing, they can do it all. There is an option of adding a bass player for a fuller sound if needed as well.

Meet the team
I've been playing music since around 1980 and I still have memories of wandering around primary school playing Karma Chameleon on my Horner recorder. I've still got that recorder as well.
I started lerning recorder, guitar, piano, trumpet, oboe and violin in school, only to realising I was not very good at the trumpet, oboe or violin, or reading music. During secondary school in the mid 80's I started to get an interest in all things electronic and wrote an album with a couple of friends using a Yamaha DX7, Roland Juno and a Yamaha Clavinova as well as drum machines and sequencers. I won the Hessy's Music Cup for playing the synthesiser at age 14, and many awards for the school choir that I was part of.
Since those heady halycon days I have been playing keys, guitar, bass and drums in various bands including a 7 year stint in Wirral's best band 4 years running, Insanity Beach. That was when I had my first taste of stardom and bigger gigs. We were packing out local venues around Liverpool most of the time, including a residency at The Cavern Club, and also working on the corporate circuit at festivals and stadiums. We played at the Aintree Grand National for a few years as their main headline act in the 12'000 capacity beer 'tent' as well as supporting Status Quo, Hot Chocolate, Lemar and also having Ray Quinn and THE Bucksk Fizz support us at the Epson Downs race festival
I moved to the South West about 17 years ago and carried on playing with various bands at pubs, parties and festivals with Mooncalf, Alfies Sister, The Sea Dogs (more teeth than The Pogues, less hair than the Corrs) and more recently Longshore Drift. One of my other bow strings is being Benny for 4 or 5 ABBA tribute bands, and that gig has taken me round the country and to exotic places such as Singapore and Mauritius.
The important band for you reading this is obviously Longshore Drift. We've been playing together for over 3 years and have earned a very good reputation across the South West. I mainly play guitar in the duo and have the honour of performing the lead singing duties. The piano occasionally gets brought out of storage for the more chilled afternoon gigs. Work has picked up so much with the duo that I gave up my day job as a lecturer in electrical engineering and I'm now a full time musician. It's only taken me 40 year to actually get around to following my dream and I only wish I'd done it before. Music is the greatest job in the world. I get paid for my hobby and first love, and bring joy to people. Life doesn't get better than that.
