About
John Rice-Lewis Celebrant is a wedding officiant in Glastonbury, Somerset, and if you have just got engaged, my warmest congratulations.
You may be thinking that all you need from a celebrant is someone who can write a ceremony and turn up on the day. But your ceremony is so much more than that, it is the moment when everything comes together, and you get to celebrate, properly and unapologetically, you. So choosing the right person to stand beside you and tell your story really matters. Hopefully, this is where that choice gets a little easier.
I’m John, a celebrant based in Somerset, but very much not limited by geography. I travel throughout the UK and worldwide, creating and delivering ceremonies for adventurous, loving couples who value creativity, style and a more contemporary way of celebrating their love.
I am a big believer that your wedding should feel like yours, not like someone else’s idea of what a wedding is supposed to be. I write completely bespoke ceremonies, shaped around your story, your personalities, your values, your cultures and your identities. I particularly love bringing different cultures, traditions and belief systems together and weaving them into something beautiful, meaningful and entirely personal.
Because no two love stories are the same, no two of my ceremonies are either.
I want you to feel completely free to be yourselves. That might mean heartfelt vows, meaningful rituals, a little audience participation, an unexpected moment of humour or something completely bonkers that nobody saw coming. Whatever we create together, every detail is considered with one aim: that you and your guests leave thinking,
“That was so them.”
A little bit about the weddings I love: I’ve helped couples celebrate in art galleries, enchanting country houses, luxury hotels, wild and wonderful woodlands, landmark buildings, on a boat and even up a tower. I love the energy and glamour of a city wedding just as much as I love the idea of disappearing somewhere remote for an intimate elopement. And if your dream is a destination wedding abroad, even better. I’m always rather partial to a passport stamp. I love finding thoughtful ways to make sure everyone feels included and connected.
Above all, I believe love is love.
I’m proud to celebrate love in all its beautiful forms and to offer a genuinely welcoming space for people of all backgrounds, ages, abilities, cultures, gender identities and sexualities. Whoever you are, whatever your story and however you choose to celebrate it, I want you to feel safe, supported, valued and completely yourself.
Things I believe in
- Love, in all its beautiful forms.
- Vows that sound like you, not a Hallmark card.
- Happy tears. Obviously.
- Dogs at weddings. Please invite them.
- A ceremony should be the heart of your day, not the boring bit you have to get through before the party.
- Your wedding does not have to follow a rulebook.
- Perhaps most importantly, your ceremony should leave you with a feeling you will still remember years from now.
If you are looking for a celebrant who will put thought, creativity, warmth and a little personality into your ceremony and make it unforgettable for all the right reasons, I would love to hear your story.
Tell me about you, your plans, your slightly mad ideas and everything you are dreaming of for the day.
Let’s create something that could only ever be yours.
