Not only are Edinburgh Food Social driven to create the best catering experience for your wedding or event, but they also endeavour to reduce food waste, work towards food justice, and promote sustainability in catering. The team of experienced chefs want to make a lasting change and revolutionise Scotland's food culture. All profits from the service are reinvested in the community food projects - community food education classes and meals for people in food poverty.

Services Offered

We are delighted to have catered for events of all shapes and sizes over the years; from weddings to birthday parties. Throughout the process, we're are on hand to chat you through all the details and to make sure that everything runs smoothly. We will work with you to create the food experience you want.

Our menu options can be served as one big buffet or as sharing platters on different tables.We suggest serving all mains as sharing platters to make the meal more sociable and interactive, and to make sure each guest gets their choice of food.

We can easily cater to dietary requirements as long as we are given advance notice. These days about half of our customers want all vegetarian/vegan and so that's absolutley no problem for us.

We work with local growers, farmers and producers to source fantastic produce to turn into delicious dishes. Whenever possible we support sustainable farmers and growers wherever we can.

We initially were going to work with Edinburgh Larder but we were passed on to their sister company which was a bit of an unexpected news but once we spoke to Kirsty, it became clear we were in very good hands! We were happy to learn as well that our money was going to a good cause which aligned perfectly with the spirit of the wedding.

The waiting staff was absolutely wonderful, seamlessly serving delicious food (nibbles and simple sharing platters which suited the relaxed vibe of our day), decorating tables following our instructions and completely tidying up afterwards. The wedding was in our parents' house & garden so the team had to adapt to these tight conditions and did very well. Everyone worked quietly in the background which made the day completely stress free! All the guests commented on the quality of the food, especially the onion pie which was a massive hit with zero leftover the next day (keeping in mind the standard was high given half the crowd was French!). Allergies were kept in mind including a plate prepared especially for my celiac brother in law.

I can only find one picture of the food at the moment and it's of the next day leftovers (delicious!) but hopefully gives a little idea.

"We were very lucky to have Edinburgh Food Social cater our wedding at Fingask castle. We cannot recommend them enough. The food was amazing and the service was wonderful. We decided to have sharing platters, a format which we loved as everyone was able to taste all of the dishes. It also created the warm and convivial atmosphere that we wanted. Every single dish was spectacular. We particularly enjoyed the salads and the incorporation of lots of delicious vegetables into the dishes. We had many (many!) wedding guests tell us that this was the best wedding food they had ever had and we couldn't agree more.
