Meet the team
Hi, I’m Simon, owner of Catering by Simon. My love of food started early, and my culinary career began at just 15 when I started my chef apprenticeship at St John’s College, Oxford. From there, I went on to build my experience across prestigious schools, Oxford colleges, and large-scale catering environments, developing the skills and standards that now shape my business.
A big part of my journey was working at Jamie’s Italian in Oxford, Jamie Oliver’s flagship restaurant, where I had the privilege of working alongside an incredibly talented team of chefs. During that time, I was also mentored by Gennaro Contaldo, which was a hugely valuable experience and helped further shape my approach to fresh, flavour-led food and professional service.
After gaining years of experience in the industry, I went on to set up my own business so I could offer a more personal, flexible style of catering. Today, I specialise in weddings and events, creating food that feels special, generous, and tailored to each couple. Whether it’s elegant canapés, relaxed sharing food, a wedding breakfast, or evening catering, I love helping bring each celebration to life.
For me, great wedding catering is about more than just good food — it’s about making the whole experience feel easy, enjoyable, and well looked after from start to finish. I take real pride in offering a friendly, professional service and helping couples feel confident that the catering is in safe hands on such an important day.
