Shopping for your wedding dress is an exciting experience. With a variety of shops and boutiques in the Cheltenham area, you can find your perfect ‘fit without having to venture too far. Chances are you have seen countless TV shows of to-be-weds hitting the salon, entourage in tow, to sip champagne and play dress up in the stunning gowns. While it’s true that many consider this a crucial experience on the wedding journey, some do get trapped in the pitfalls of the day. These are easy to fall into, but lucky for you, with a little preparation and prior knowledge, they are just as easy to avoid.

Be Prepared

First thing’s first, choose stores wisely. If you are plus-sized or particularly petite, call ahead and find out if the shop carries options to suit, saving yourself a trip and upset if they don’t.

If you have an idea in your mind of a style you might like, share it with the shop assistant, along with any inspiration photos you may have. It is also important though to not get caught up and set on a style and be willing to try others- even if just to rule them out definitively.

While it’s important to get other opinions, too many can be overwhelming and more of a hindrance than a help. Keep your group small and close, so you can trust that their feedback will be honest and in your best interest.

I would definitely recommend Yes White Dress. Originally I did not plan to wear a "proper" wedding dress, however YWD changed my mind for a few reasons: 1) Price. YWD is so affordable, which is rare in the wedding world! I was on somewhat of a budget and could not justify the cost of a wedding dress, however YWD prices are unparalleled. However, this does not come at the expense of the quality. The quality of the dress I received was as good as (if not better) the dresses I tried on in stores. 2) Ease of ordering. The website is so easy to use, and has a great range of dresses for all tastes. 3) Service. Nyima is an angel. I was nervous about ordering online to begin with and she chatted to me and totally put me at ease. She is prepared to answer any and every question asked, replying quickly and in depth. She even kept me up to date throughout the whole process of my dress being made and shipped. I'm not exaggerating when I say she has responded quickly and friendly to over 30 emails from me in the short time it took between ordering and receiving my dress. Also, her attention to detail must be amazing because I had done a measurement wrong and she realised almost immediately, asking me to redo it and sending a video of how to measure it properly. 4) The dress. The dress is great quality and so comfortable to wear. Nyima actually agreed to let me change the pattern slightly, altering where the neckline was compared to the original. I got so many compliment on the dress and cannot express how happy I was with it. To add: It was literally a couple months between ordering and receiving my made-to-measure dress, which is pretty astounding! Thank you so much YWD!
