Bridal Makeup by Sarah is a business owned by Sarah Hodgkinson, a professional wedding and event makeup artist based in Chelmsford, Essex. Sarah specialises in natural, radiant makeup for modern brides, as well as elegant event makeup for clients seeking a sophisticated look.
Hair services are also available as part of your booking. Sarah can create relaxed styles and updos herself, or work with her trusted professional hairstylists on more intricate looks and larger bridal parties.
Background and ethos-
Sarah is a fully qualified makeup artist. She studied specialist makeup in London, covering hair and makeup for TV, film, fashion and theatre. She then spent more than 15 years in the luxury beauty retail industry, working with brands Lancôme and YSL.
The ongoing training she received helped her succeed in a range of roles, including specialist makeup artist, mentor, account manager and team manager. Sarah has a natural ability to go above and beyond to provide a high-end, professional service. She understands that makeup is about more than application- it’s about confidence, comfort and helping women feel their absolute best.
During those 15 years, Sarah also worked with many beautiful brides. Last year, she decided to leave the retail world behind and devote herself fully to her own business.

Trial: one-to-one consultation
Your bridal makeup journey begins with a one-to-one consultation, where Sarah will discuss your wedding vision, skin concerns and personal style in detail. This allows her to design and carry out a customised bridal makeup look that complements both you and your wedding-day aesthetic.
Wedding-morning schedule
Following your trial, Sarah will provide a personalised wedding-morning schedule and a tailored beauty-prep guide to help you and your bridal party prepare and achieve the best possible results.
On the wedding day
Sarah and her trusted team of professional makeup artists and hairstylists work calmly and efficiently, ensuring that everyone is ready on time, feeling confident and looking their best.
Brides receive unlimited communication and support in the lead-up to their wedding, with reassurance and guidance whenever needed.
Sarah offers flexible bridal makeup packages to suit weddings of all sizes, from intimate ceremonies to large bridal parties. She regularly works alongside a reliable team of assistants and is available for weddings across Essex, London, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire. Destination weddings are available on request.

Hello! I'm Sarah, Lead Artist.
First things first—I absolutely love weddings, so I truly feel like I'm in the right job! There's something so special about being part of such an important day. I get genuinely excited about all things wedding-related, from the planning process to sourcing beautiful details and creating those little finishing touches that make an occasion unforgettable.
When I'm not working, you'll usually find me hunting down my next coffee or brunch spot. I have a slight obsession with discovering cool cafés and treating myself to a great coffee—it's become a bit of a daily ritual!
Away from weddings, I love rolling out my yoga mat and heading out for long walks. Whether it's an early morning stretch or a walk with a podcast and coffee in hand, it's my favourite way to recharge and get that 'me time'
I'm also a proud mum to a beautiful little girl who keeps me smiling every day. Motherhood has taught me patience, organisation and how to juggle multiple things at once—skills that come in surprisingly handy when working in the wedding industry!
And finally, maybe not something to admit—but I’m completely obsessed with memes and comedy Instagram reels. I can happily lose far too much time scrolling through videos that make me litterally laugh out loud... probably not productive, but definitely good for the soul!
