Outstanding venue for a wedding on a budjet

We married at Marlborough''s Town Hall in 2004. We were new to the area and wanted to marry locally so when we saw the interior we had knew it was the right place. We were stunned that it cost so little and thrilled when they offered us an alternative room to usual to accomodate our 100 guests. We married on a Friday which gave us flexibility to hire the whole venue all day for about £300 and we brought in our own entertainment, food and decoration to make it extra special. We will definately be booking this venue again for our anniversary parties!

Pretty registry office with history

Marlborough Town Hall was ideal for us. The marriage room is the Council Chamber which holds 26 people. We only wanted an intimate ceremoney with immediate family and a couple of close friends only, so it was perfect.

There is a fab stained glass window at the back at the room with a ornate chair for the signing. We had pictures taken at the front of the Town Hall on the steps which was lovely.

Would recommend to those who want a low key ceremony in Wiltshire area, as it has character and charm.

Charming Old Building with a small wedding room

We were married in Marlborough Town Hall on May 1st, 2002. Of all the registry rooms in the area, we liked it the best -- it had an English charm the other registry office rooms did not, and since we were bringing relatives overseas from the U.S. and Australia, we wanted a venue that exuded olde English. The Town Hall is at the end of what is reputed to be "the widest street in all of England." So, depending from which side of town you approach it, the Town Hall can be quite imposing when it first comes into view. The wedding room is done in a lovely old dark wood panel, with a big window featuring a stained glass medallion at its center, and an ornate, wooden (royal-looking) chair for signing the registry. Our guests found it lovely. Parking is a nightmare at this venue, but it didn't present a problem for us, because we had everyone on a coach we had hired for the day. The hours are also quite restrictive -- we were unable to schedule the ceremony for a time we most liked. And the room only holds 26 seated people. I will have pictures up on my wed-site eventually -- http://www.domni.com/Wedpage
The people were utterly wonderful -- I can't say enough good things about them. And the venue itself cost nothing, since it is a licensed registry office.
