The Hurt Arms is a historic wedding venue located in Derbyshire, England. It is a stunning 19th-century inn nestled near the River Amber. Recently refurbished and extended, this property is a perfect blend of old meets new. Steeped in history but fitted with luxurious modern amenities, it is a spectacular setting for a one-of-a-kind wedding celebration.

Facilities and Capacity

The Hurt Arms has a variety of indoor and outdoor event spaces. Ceremonies are hosted in their rustic-chic Tollgate Suite, named after the toll house that was situated adjacent to the original building in the 1870s. This room features floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the space with natural light, an impressive private bar and restrooms. Stepping outside the Tollgate Suite, a raised terrace area greets you with beautiful views of the Ambergate woods and the local cricket pitch. Here you can toast your marriage with a glass of bubbly while enjoying the breathtaking surroundings. Leading down from the terrace is the secret garden. This paved area is furnished with oyster grey tables, chairs and ornate lanterns, providing a tranquil retreat for you and your guests. Towering oak trees cloak the property, protecting the privacy of your special occasion. For your reception, you can make your way back to the Tollgate Suite for an evening of food and entertainment. With unique lighting to set the party atmosphere, you are sure to have an unforgettable experience.

We had an absolutely wonderful wedding reception with the hurt arms

The venue is absolutely beautiful with lovely staff and AMAZING food. The views from the tollgate suite are brilliant, surrounded by free Derbyshire fields and woodland and the suite itself is fantastic for a wedding reception. Our only qualm was that we did have three wedding planners which wasn’t explained to us at any point, we just were passed from one to another. I do believe that one of them moved on to another job but it would have been best if we would have been able to count on one person specifically. Having said this, the staff were all so lovely and helpful and we REALLY enjoyed our food options too. We had a church ceremony then used the hurt arms for our drinks reception, wedding breakfast and evening reception and had the venue until 1am. We stayed upstairs as part of our package and the room was lovely (up a lot of stairs) with complimentary bits for the happy couple.

Bar prices

They do not show their prices at the bar which is against the law. One does not know that he is paying £4.40 for a pint till he's paid for it. Two cups of tea in a teapot with one bag will set you back £4. Apart from that it is a lovely place.
