Situated on the Suffolk border in Great Yeldham, Essex, The Essex Barn at the White Hart is a truly enchanting wedding venue. Surrounded by England's spectacular countryside, this property offers a romantic backdrop for your special day. With a seamless blend of old and new, this traditional-style barn has benefitted from a loving and stylish renovation, creating a unique and inviting space.
Facilities and Capacity
An exclusive-use property, couples will have full and sole use of the barn and its gardens on their milestone day. The open mezzanine floor of The Essex Barn at the White Hart offers a romantic setting for your ceremony. It features neutral decor throughout that you can easily enhance to suit your own taste. The barn is licensed to host civil ceremonies, so you can conveniently celebrate every stage of your wedding here. The grounds surrounding the barn offer a picturesque backdrop for your wedding photos, from the charming gazebo to the manicured lawns. Couples can start their wedding day by preparing in the venue's get-ready room. A private bathroom in the barn is also reserved for their exclusive use. Overnight accommodation is available on-site, as the property is home to 12 bedrooms and a honeymoon suite for the newlyweds.
Services Offered
At The Essex Barn at the White Hart, we have two options avaliable for our couples. We can offer a Tradtional wedding day where couples can have a ceremony, their wedding breakfast followed by an evening reception! The wedding breakfast will be taken care of by the in-house 2 AA-rosette chefs. They pride themselves on using the freshest produce, that is locally sourced where available, for a vibrant taste that will impress every guest. Service staff, meanwhile, will be hard at work in the background to keep glasses topped up and everything running smoothly to give you a day to remember.
The second option avaliable at the venue is a Twilight Package. In this option, couples have the venue from late afternoon. We can offer a ceremony space for 5pm, followed by a drinks reception and then an evening buffet with an evening reception. This option is avaliable for couples who are wanting a less formal way to celebrate their day but still have the venue of their dreams.

Best day of our lives at the most amazing venue!
The staff at The White Hart are amazing and made me feel very calm and comfortable while getting ready for our big day in the amazing bridal getting ready room, which was one of the highlights of the day as there is so much space for everyone with make-up artists and hair stylists etc meaning there was zero stress.
The food was great all round, we had a meal the night before, the wedding breakfast and breakfast the day after were all just amazing, cannot fault anything with it.
Honestly the best day of our lives, so glad we choose this venue to get married, we would highly recommend to all!!
Amazing venue with equally amazing staff
They are so easy to talk to! There was a power cut right before our ceremony but it was handled and dealt with in a professional manner and couldn't do more to find ways around it to keep us calm! It didn't affect our day at all.
The bridal prep room was lovely and the accommodation was spot on. The grounds made for beautiful and unforgettable pictures to look back on in years to come. We want to do it all again!

Our perfect wedding day - Oct 26th 2024
On the wedding day, our heartfelt thanks go to the wedding coordinators, Vicky and Amy who ensured everything ran smoothly and took the time to review every minute final detail with us a week before the big day. They managed every aspect of the day from start to finish, making sure everything was perfect. They both, along with their staff assisted guests with check-ins and helped (early - considering a late finish) with breakfast the following morning—going above and beyond in every way.
Thank you also to Luke and Bradley, for their incredible support. Luke, in particular, made my wife feel like the most important person on the planet. His care and attention was extraordinary, making my wife feel like she was the only bride to have ever gotten married at The White Hart. For also, calming me on my walk up to the venue, thank you. The personal touch he added to the day for us both made it truly unforgettable.
I’d also like to offer a special thank you to Vicky, who provided me with much-needed emotional support on the morning of the wedding. She was there to reassure me, address my concerns, and help calm my nerves—exactly what I needed before greeting guests, sat anxiously waiting for my arrival followed by my Niamh's arrival.
As someone who was feeling a little anxious leading up to the day, I couldn’t have asked for a better team of professionals. With them running everything, we were in great hands. Our wedding day ran exactly how we envisioned it, and it was nothing short of perfect! From the management to the chefs and waitstaff, every detail was thoughtfully taken care of, and it was the most magical day of our lives.
A huge thank you to the entire team for making our day not only flawless but incredibly special. We truly couldn’t have asked for more & we will regularly visit for a the extraordinary food and drink on offer.

Dreamy, Relaxed Day for Two Brides
The barn was perfect and the suggested DJ is phenomenal and great at reading a room. Even though it rained, there was no impact on the day. The staff were flexible, attentive and (most importantly as two ex-service workers!) everyone seemed to really like being there. We had complex dietary requirements with some guests and these were addressed brilliantly, with these guests getting personalised menus. There were also perfect vegetarian and vegan options. The guests in question went out of their way to thank us for their lovely menu, and none of them were treated any differently.
The biggest thank you to Laura and Abby for planning and managing the day. You were fantastic. An extra shout out to Josephine, who was a delight the whole time we were there and was the friendliest face as I walked over to meet the registrars.

We're thrilled to announce our 2026 wedding open days on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th February. Experience the wedding magic as we open the doors to our newly refurbished Essex Barn and invite all couples to be one of the first to view our standout upgrades.
On arrival the happy couple will receive a glass of prosecco to enjoy while discovering The Essex Barn, including our 4 and a half acres of beautiful grounds.
View our outdoor pagoda, perfect for summer and twilight ceremonies, or practice walking the aisle with our indoor wedding space, a beautiful, elevated mezzanine floor.
Our wedding open days are the perfect opportunity to meet our wedding team and ask any question you have about getting married at The Essex Barn. Allow them to settle your mind on any queries about wedding planning or the big day itself. Organising your dream day can be overwhelming, but with the right team to help you, it doesn't have to be.
Both wedding open days are free and run from 11am - 3pm. We'll be ready to welcome you throughout the day, so drop in as you please, there is no need to book. There is plenty of onsite parking.
