We chanced upon The Compasses from another family wedding and straight away we knew it was somewhere special. The venue has a warm, welcoming atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease, and throughout the entire planning process, Jono, Charlaine, Della and the whole team made us feel like we were the only people in the world, really supportive! And their recommendations for DJ (Amp & Decks), Catering (Coggeshall Catering and The Meadow Table) and Signage and finishing touches (Harrison Events) were spot on!
The wedding day itself was even better than our expectations. The setting was beautiful and every detail was handled with care and professionalism. What stood out most was how attentive and accommodating the staff were, not just to us, but to our family and guests as well, nothing was too much! They worked hard behind the scenes to ensure everything ran smoothly, allowing us to relax and fully enjoy every moment (and reminded us of what was next along the way!)
All our guests said what a wonderful venue it was and how seamlessly the day flowed, everyone's still talking about it!
Choosing The Compasses as our wedding venue was one of the best decisions we made. We are incredibly grateful to everyone involved for helping create such a perfect day. If you're looking for a venue that offers beautiful surroundings, exceptional service, and a truly personal touch, (not to mention very good value for money!) we couldn't recommend The Compasses more highly.

The Compasses at Pattiswick is not only a lovely venue, but from day 1 you feel really supported and cared for by the staff there. It feels like a really personalised service compared to other venues we viewed. From the planning and lead up, to the running of the day, everything ran very smoothly. Everyone is so friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
We held our wedding here in May 2026 and couldn’t have asked for anything more. A special thank you to Charlaine and Della- they are both amazing and help make Compasses what it is. Thank you all so much for a perfect day!

Incredible wedding experience
We have so many positive things to say about The Compasses we don’t know where to start! We couldn’t recommend them enough, from the minute we viewed this incredible venue Charlaine was super helpful with everything throughout the planning process. Keeping in touch, sending over a range of suppliers and many other helpful suggestions, nothing ever seemed too much which made the wedding planning process very relaxed. Not to mention it’s extremely affordable and there are no hidden costs.
They let us take control of having our special day exactly how we wanted it all while making sure it was planned well, keeping it calm and exciting.
Della and the team were amazing on the day with ensuring everything went smoothly, making sure everything was set up to how we envisioned and ensuring we had everything we needed at all times.
We really couldn’t imagine our day going any better, not to mention the absolute stunning venue and surroundings. We cannot thank all the team at The Compasses enough for all their care and hard work to make our day so special and memorable! -

I have nothing but amazing things to say about this venue as a whole. The staff are professional, friendly and compassionate, respond to our correspondence promptly and effectively. They go out of their way to help and they are keen to ensure your day is tailored to you, not just to make this budget friendly, but decoration and organising to day for you. Our wedding day went so smoothly and have absolutely no complaints about anything and everything went well. The venue itself is beautiful, intimate and natural. I love the fact that evening and day time guests can celebrate in one space and not split up into two rooms for dancing and seating. The outdoor space is natural and quiet and there is plenty of spaces to take a breather when the time is right, inside and outside, particularly took a liking to the fireplaces. There are plenty of places to put your personal touches, believe me, we had quite a lot to find places for, and the venue did an amazing job at placing these in the best locations that they thought worked the most to the venue and guests. The venue is wheelchair accessible which made all the difference to accessibility for family members and in general, the space is, in my opinion, the best in terms of layout. Personally, I could not have asked for more and it was the most magical day of our lives and could not have asked for more. Thank you. -

The compasses are ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING, from start to finish (and even after) The compasses at pattiswick have gone above and beyond to ensure we have the most amazing day and we absolutely did!
The venue itself is stunning, a beautiful rustic countryside vibe, with wooden beams and open fireplaces, beautiful greenery inside and out, even a kids play area too.
The bridal room for getting ready has all the modern amenities you could need with plenty of space. Loved the two way mirror extra which was especially fun to see all the guests and groomsmen to arrive. The aisle, wow, we cried when we first saw it and knew it was perfect for us, I have no words for how perfect this venue is.
Our day run SO smooth thanks to Charlaine, Della and the team. They are the most wonderful people you could meet, they are professional but with a personal touch even building a friendly relationship with our children (Tommy wiggle bum will always be remembered) Charlaine and Della looked after us as family would and not just another wedding booking, I always felt relaxed around them and always came away smiling with laughter.
I have so much love for Charlaine and Della and look forward to seeing them again for our 1st anniversary meal at the compasses.
I was nervous as many brides are on the leadup, but honestly there was no need to be whatsoever. There was nothing the team couldn’t handle. No silly requests or questions. We also found their instagram page to be really inspiring with so many different styles they can cater for and real life weddings they have previously done along with all their open days and recommended suppliers.
I will be forever thankful to EVERYONE at the compasses for giving us the most perfect day we could have ever wished for. Charlaine and Della, you are honestly diamonds and will hold a special place in all our hearts forever
