Avoid This Hotel for Your Wedding!

As a professional wedding photographer and videographer with over six years of experience, I have worked at hundreds of venues, and I regret to say this hotel falls far below expectations in terms of service.

From the outset, the staff was unhelpful and indifferent to our needs. We encountered issues while filming the bride getting into her horse-drawn carriage at the entrance. Given the hotel’s location near two busy train stations, we understood that the carriage had to park at the main entrance, where passersby might appear in the background—this wasn’t an issue. However, as we were capturing the bride stepping into the carriage, a woman walked directly between our cameras and the carriage (see attached screenshot). Despite our politely request for her to wait a moment, she simply responded, “I live here!” and continued without a word of apology. At that moment, a hotel staff member named Fransexo was standing near us (about 3 steps away from us) , but he did absolutely nothing to assist.

What made the situation worse was that Fransexo, instead of assisting us, casually began chatting with the woman who had just disrupted the shoot, despite the fact that there were clearly more pressing matters at hand.

When we asked if he could help ensure that people wouldn’t walk between the cameras and the bride when the carriage returned, allowing us to capture her getting off the carriage smoothly, he dismissed us, stating it was a public road and that we had no right to make such a request. We weren’t asking for control—just a few seconds of courtesy, or for him to help us and the couple to politely ask people to walk around rather than between the cameras and the bride, so we could capture the moment without interruption. This simple consideration is something we’ve experienced at many other venues, even those without a 5-star rating.

To make matters worse, Fransexo then tried to justify the woman’s actions by claiming she was the property owner. Frankly, that’s irrelevant.

The couple paid for their wedding at this 5-star hotel, and in our experience, most venues—regardless of their rating—would have been far more accommodating and supportive in ensuring these key moments were captured properly.

Unfortunately, this was not the only issue we faced. During the wedding breakfast, there was no staff assistance with the microphones for the speeches, leaving the couple to figure it out themselves. At most venues, someone would test the equipment and ensure it was properly handed to the couple before the speeches began. Additionally, when the couple was delayed for their photo session due to the horse carriage being stuck in traffic, a staff member approached them with an irritated expression, clearly frustrated by the delay. While we understand the importance of keeping to a schedule, professionalism in communicating such concerns is expected.

Overall, the service at this venue is shockingly subpar for a 5-star establishment. As a wedding photographer with six years of experience, I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel for your special day. With a budget like this, you deserve far better service than what was provided here.

The wedding venue of dreams - best day ever!

A major selling point for the venue is not only it's stunning facade, but also the iconic staircase - the very same one featured in the Spice Girls video which was a great hit with our guests!

Wedding planning can be an extremely stressful process, but our coordinator, Mery Villeda Meza, was an absolute delight. We came away from every meeting with her feeling listened to and reassured, and it was the most stunning day and went completely without a hitch!

The venue were very accommodating with our requests, which were numerous - mostly helping us to incorporate Japanese traditions into the ceremony to reflect the heritage on the bride's side, as well as making sure our guests with accessibility issues were considered.

The food and canapes were not only beautiful, but delicious - and it was truly the most magical day. One benefit of the venue is just how iconic and stunning it is inside - our wedding was in late October, so while a bad weather day could be devastating for wedding photos at other venues, it wasn't an issue for us at all - and actually, we had some moments of sunshine on the day which was amazing because our guests could head out onto the terrace to get some shots with the stunning clocktower in the background!

We had 198 guests in total, with 70 people as evening reception only guests. The coordination between the venue and our suppliers (band, florist, cakes, photographer/videographer) was fantastic. The only piece of feedback I'd give to the venue would be to do with the communication about any leftover cake for the next day - as the team on the day following weren't sure where it was, so we unfortunately weren't able to save any leftover cake and our cake topper went missing, but for an event with so many people, a huge amount of moving parts and that was only planned in eight months, it's a miracle that was the only thing!

Thank you SO much to the St Pancras Renaissance team, and in particular Mery, for making our day truly special.

Summer Wedding in the Renaissance

The Renaissance is located in an historic building at Kings Cross which made it an ideal place for a fairytale wedding.
We were impressed already on our first visit with the attention for detail and hospitality. The Renaissance team, in particular Megan, were of great help during the whole process. They team have delivered above our expectations.
We would recommend the Renaissance to anyone who are looking of a flawless wedding day without stress.

A day we'll never forgot thanks to Mery and the team at Renaissance St. Pancras Hotel.

The most stunning venue and somewhere we know we'll come to visit and celebrate our special day for many years to come.

We're so pleased to have had Mery as our wedding coordinator as she really made every effort to make sure we felt comfortable and end up with a day we'll never forget! All of our guests had the most wonderful time and the whole wedding day went flawlessly.

We did have a few hiccups along the way with suppliers and a little bit of missed communication (but, this definitely happens with all weddings with the stress involved). A feedback I would put forward is that it would be great to have one method of sharing all wedding plans / preferences as we did end up with a few different methods of communicating the same thing.

Food was excellent and all our guests were made to feel comfortable and looked after by the hotel team - such a big effort, so thank you to everyone involved!

After reading some of the other reviews, we also ended up not knowing where our wedding cake leftovers were but were on such a high after the wedding that we didn't care too much.

Can't wait to come and celebrate our one year anniversary and huge thanks to Mery once again. You're the best.

Beautiful venue with a brilliant team

We had an amazing wedding at the St Pancras Renaissance last month. Everyone loved it. We were looked after by Mery so well from our first visit and all the way through the planning process. It's such an iconic venue but they're not at all stuffy or stuck up.

Disposed of our flowers

Despite agreeing to leave our flowers in the venue overnight to give to guests who had stayed over in the hotel, they disposed of them. They have been unwilling to compensate me for this loss.

Wedding review

We held my daughter's wedding at the hotel on 12 February 2023. Whilst we had an excellent function, I believe this was many down to our own suppliers. On the day the hotel events manager was very helpful. She organised refreshments in the area where the bride and her bridesmaids were getting ready. She was on hand throughout the day to make sure everything happened as it should and she liaised well with our own events planner.
However in the run up to the event we were often left waiting for email or telephone responses to our queries. It sometimes felt as if we had paid our money and that was that. Also, there seemed to be very little co-ordination between the function staff and the front of house - we booked 3 rooms for the night before the wedding and a further 5 rooms for the night of the wedding, but the rooms were given over to us very late on the day of the wedding and the front of house staff were not particularly polite. Given that we were spending in excess of £20,000 it seems churlish that no breakfasts were thrown in (except for the bridal suite ) and also the charges for parking. Even our guests who had contacted the hotel before to see about disability parking were advised it was available but not told there would be a £50 charge.
As I say, we had a wonderful function and the venue looked magnificent, however I think the communication could and should have been better. I would still recommend it to a friend, but with a caveat not to expect a smooth run up and little help from the reception staff.

Brilliant service and a seamless on day execution

The team at the St.Pancras Renaissance Hotel London delivered an excellent service in the planning and execution of our wedding day. We found them helpful in accommodating our needs and delivered a seamless service not only on the day but in the prep the days beforehand.
They helped us facilitate our suppliers, both booked directly via them and externally.
I couldn't recommend them highly enough.

Dream wedding - helpful & professional venue

We had our perfect wedding at the St Pancras Renaissance. Not only is this a stunning, unique and historic venue but the team is completely professional, and helpful with planning. Everything went 100% smoothly. Jade did a fantastic job. They accommodated multiple special requests making sure everything was the way we wanted. Given there is no venue hire fee but only a minimum spend and the quality of the food is excellent with many different options, and you get to use so many different parts of the venue, this was also excellent value for money, compared to other options, and it's possible to customise packages to ensure you get exactly what you want. The team connected us to some suppliers and then also worked really smoothly with our other suppliers. The whole event was completely seamless and we didn't have to worry about anything, and the team still made sure to check with us as needed. Even the smallest details, such as food preferences, guest questions, requests for changes were all helpfully accommodated. It is clear they routinely organise all types of events. Our guests and families commented on how well-organised everything was. We had a magical day and I would fully recommend this venue to any couple.

Exceptional!

We don’t live in the U.K., and we’re a little worried that planning our wedding from afar would be a challenge. However, in the end, it all worked out perfectly!

We couldn’t be more grateful for the exceptional assistance of Mery Villeda Meza, the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel’s special events planner. She arranged regular zoom calls to check in with us, and made sure we were thinking about everything we needed to.

She had some great suggestions on how to make our special day truly memorable, and was able to handle some last minute changes with no fuss - we were really happy with the outcome.
