Located in Newark, Nottinghamshire, Rufford Abbey is a beautiful country park and wedding venue for all seasons. The 12th-century ruins, woodlands, formal gardens, and the lake offer tremendous photography opportunities. Within the park lies Rufford Mill, once a corn mill for the estate. Couples can get lost in the beauty of this venue, enjoying the abundance of history and romance in every corner.
Facilities and Capacity
Rufford Abbey boasts several event spaces for lavish wedding events. The Talbot Suite is a beautiful canvas for ceremonies, situated on the first floor of the mill with ample space for up to 80 guests for dinner. The Markham Suite is an additional function room on the ground floor that offers an adjacent area for the wedding event. Couples and guests can retreat to this suite for further celebrations, hosting up to 100 guests. Rufford Abbey holds a civil ceremony licence, meaning you can spend the whole day in one magnificent place. Everything here is designed to enhance relaxation and ensure that the happy newlyweds have a special day they will never forget.
Services Offered
Rufford Abbey offers three all-inclusive wedding packages. The Pearl package is perfect for 50 day guests and 100 evening guests and is available midweek in the Talbot Suite. Chiavari chairs, linens, complimentary glasses of bubbles, three-course wedding breakfast and drinks reception services are included. The Ruby and Diamond packages provide equal services with additional amenities and bar options, such as extra day guests, and waitress-served canapes. The bar services can include a glass of wine or bottle of beer after the ceremony, half a bottle of wine per guest at the wedding breakfast, and a sparkling wine toast.

Incredible Venue!
This venue was amazing. Carmel and Séana couldn't have done more for us. They made us feel very relaxed, both before and on the day, and really took care of us. Hazel, who was in charge of us in the evening, was also lovely and helpful - the bar staff even fixed my glasses last minute so I could dance the night away!
They were fantastic with food preferences and dietary requirements, very helpful with our table settings and making the venue look absolutely stunning, and nothing we could've asked for was any trouble.
I've had so many comments in the last few days about the food being A+
10/10, I would recommend to anyone looking for a great wedding team, in a beautiful old location, with brilliant food for a very affordable price.

Everything was perfect
From the first visit to Rufford and making the booking with a year to the big day, Carmel and her team were excellent at guiding and advising on all things we needed to know. Having the bridal suite available was such a bonus as it enabled the bridal party to get ready and step outside into the Courtyard where visitors to the park gathered to watch. The turnaround of the Talbot suite from ceremony to reception went smoothly and guests had the opportunity for photos and then we had canapés and welcome drinks before the fabulous 3 course meal and lovely wine. After the evening celebrations the staff helped box the gifts and wedding cake etc and even helped load the car, a fantastic team.

Rufford Mill wedding venue... WOW!!
My husband and I were married at Rufford Mill only three days ago; I have had to send a review and thank you to the Team straight away as we were so incredibly happy with our Big Day and we can't stop talking about it.
Seana has been our wedding planner throughout and she has been nothing but a star. Over a years worth of advice, support and constant reassurance from Seana meant that our day ran smoothly and was honestly, so stress free for me, as the Bride. Seana took such good care of us and really made the effort to get to understand what my husband and I were hoping for... and she and her team certainly delivered.
The venue itself is idyllic! There are opportunities for beautfiul photographs to be taken in various locations; lake side, the historical Mill and Abbey, floral gardens and meadow fields. The food was delicious and the service was great. Any dietary needs were catered for without any hesitation... this gave me such confidence. We felt truly spoilt. We have had so many compliments from our guests about the day as a whole and I can't recommend Rufford Mill, to future Newlyweds, enough!

The day we want to do over and over again.
We had our wedding at this incredible venue last week, and we truly can't express how amazing the experience was. The entire team went above and beyond to make our day flawless. The transitions between the ceremony and reception spaces were seamless, and everything flowed effortlessly. We didn’t have to worry about a single detail, thanks to Séana’s expert guidance. She led us through the day with such grace and professionalism, allowing us to fully enjoy every moment. It was truly an unforgettable experience.

Wonderful wedding venue in perfect setting with amazing and friendly staff.
I can’t stay anything bad about Rufford Mill.
We had our wedding their last weekend and everything about it was perfect.
The location its self was stunning and we had wonderful weather so took full use of everything The Mill offered.
Our guests told us it was the best wedding they’d been to in a long time and it was faultless.
Carmel and her team excelled and made sure everything ran smoothly and were friendly from the first meeting.
Contact with staff throughout the planning was simply and they got make to us straight away.
The venue its self has everything you can want.
I personally loved the setting and building itself and the re-decoration and uplift of the additional Markham suite made it even better. A star-lite dance floor has been added.

Rufford Mill wedding event
We had our magical wedding day on 24-06-2024 at Rufford Mill thanks to Séana and the team.
Séana went above and beyond from the day we booked right up to our special day, making everything perfect for us. When she got the news my Husbands car had broken down, she stayed calm and kept it from me not to stress me out. The staff were amazing throughout our day and nothing was too much trouble
We Honestly can’t thank them enough, this venue is perfect and so picturesque for any special occasion, and if we were to re-new our vows this would be our first port of call hoping Séana is still their. We 100% recommend to anyone looking to book for any Occasion.

It makes it even nicer that in years to come we will be visiting Rufford Mill, and hopefully bringing our children here to show them where we got married.

More than I could have wished for!
Our experience with Rufford Mill was amazing, Séana in particular was really helped keep me calm throughout especially the last couple weeks before the wedding, I was bombarding her with panic emails, she even helped with some big last minute changes I made. She was really involved on the day also! Help me get from the bridal suite to the ceremony without getting my dress wet and dirty!! Every single guest complimented the venue and the food, said it was the best meal they’ve ever had at a wedding and that they loved how everyone on the table was served together so no one was waiting for food, main course was absolutely amazing, my brother even asked for seconds!! Greedy! And that buffet was out of this world, definitely wasn’t what we was expecting, a supplier turned up 8 hours early to set up and séana told me to go get dressed & not panic whilst she’d rearrange all the room for me to fit it all in, she constantly checked in on us getting ready in the bridal suite to make sure we was all ok and running in time, i definitely recommend. Thank you ladies & Rufford Mill team x Séana you’re amazing! x we will be back in a couple years to renew our vows :)

Absolutely the best day ever
This venue is a fabulous setting for any wedding, our day was perfect from start to finish.
Communication from the very beginning from the team was amazing and they went above and beyond to make our day a special one.
We had the bridal suite in the morning and I would definitely recommend doing this, lovely quality time with all of my bridesmaids.
It was a rainy day as we got married on the 7th sep this year but this did not ruin a thing in fact, it just added to our beautiful story.
The food was absolutely out of this world both dinner and evening buffet, everyone commented on how nice it was.
The downstairs room was great for the evening reception and the team have done a great job with the decor, I needed to bring very little decor for that room as it looked so nice.
A special thanks has to go to Seana for all of your support with organising and coordinating the day, you were great and just what we had hoped for.
Amazing venue, amazing food and amazing people to help it run smoothly.
I would highly recommend, I just wish we could do it all over again.

amazing day
Rufford mill was a beautiful venue for our wedding. the wedding team was really helpful from start to finish and too the pressure off from us. All our guests loved the venue. my husband and i had an amazing day from start to finish. I definitely recommend the venue for a wedding.

The Most Perfect Day
Our wedding day was everything and more...
We fell in love with this venue the minute we walked onto the grounds. Amazing photo opportunities! There are people around outside the venue as it is a public place. However, no one disturbed or caused any trouble. Everyone was very respectful and it was quite nice to have people watching you arrive and congratulating you.
We dealt with wedding planner Carmel. She was so helpful and all our needs and requests were catered for. We had a different wedding breakfast layout to the normal circle tables. This was no trouble and she went above and beyond to make sure my vision came to life. All the staff on the day were so amazing and our wedding ran so smoothly. Very decent size venue. We had 72 day guests and roughly 130 reception guests. There was plenty of room and space for dancing! We went for the honour package which included everything we needed. The food was beautiful and and they had a huge variety of drinks at the bar.
Everyone commented how nice the venue was and I can't fault it in any way. Highly recommended. Can't thank Carmel and the team enough for all their hard work and dedication to making our day so perfect. xx

Perfect wedding day
We had an amazing wedding day at Rufford Mill! Carmel was great and, with the staff, ensured everything ran smoothly! The food was lovely - we received a lot of compliments about it and can only agree it was delicious! The venue is absolutely stunning, making it perfect for our wedding photos. Thank you for making our wedding day perfect!
