Heskin Hall is a countryside wedding venue nestled in the historic county of Lancashire, in Chorley, England. As one of the best examples of Tudor architecture remaining in the region, few places can match its charm and historical ambience. They offer flexible wedding packages, delectable in-house catering, and connections to the best local vendors.

Facilities and Capacity

Heskin Hall is a warm and friendly family-run venue on a mission to provide couples with as much versatility as possible. Gatherings with 200+ guests can benefit from exclusive access to both indoor and outdoor spaces. Whether you envision a rustic afternoon soiree on the lawns or a candlelit dinner full of vintage charm, the only limit is your imagination. This venue's team will quite literally roll out the red carpet when your big day arrives. Their wood-panelled ceremony room glows beneath chandeliers, creating a cosy atmosphere for exchanging your vows. Blissfully wed, you can join your guests for cocktails in the timeless lounge, complete with antique furniture, a wood-burning fireplace, and a spacious bar. Larger celebrations can then transition to the indoor reception room, accommodating up to 120 seated guests and 200 standing. You're welcome to book a marquee during the summer months and have even more flexibility with your guest list. If a woodland wedding is more your style, the surrounding forest is the perfect spot for a whimsical tipi wedding.

Services Offered

The experienced team at Heskin Hall offers versatile wedding packages and is happy to customize them according to your needs. They understand that your wedding is one of the most important days of your life, which is why they provide a dedicated wedding coordinator. They will work alongside you to help you make the most of their charming space and to put you at ease while planning. You'll also have an extensive wedding breakfast menu to consider, whether you prefer an elegant plated dinner, buffet, or simply starters and cocktails.

Superb staff, lynne and Martin couldn’t have done enough for us, food excellent and everything from walking into the buildings ran smooth as cloak, wo

Amazing venue and everyone from our celebrant to the photographers were taken care of, the chef even made glutton free main meal at the last minute as we hadn’t been aware. our celebrations went into the night with music dancing and lots of laughter. Lynne was available at a discreet distance, she set up tables, including the kids area and floral displays, no one could have done more for us, our not so small 70 family and friends were all immediately welcomed and impressed x thank you x

Disrespectful, rude and ignorant

From the second we paid the venue off it felt as though anything I said fell on deaf ears. We were left in limbo about the ceremony literally up until the day with no official confirmation that we were getting the fairy dell.
The wedding planning was made more difficult as Lynne changed my plans a few times but didn't ask me, I was told what to do. She spoke over me and answered me back on several occasions which other people witnessed and were shocked to hear.
Both bridesmaids and my mother-in-law said that you Lynne was rude and snappy with them. My mother-in-law left the reception early because of this and my sister asked for a highchair and got snapped at and refused when she was just trying to feed her baby. Even the photographers had mentioned a couple of times that she had been rude to them and I felt like I needed to apologise to them.
I printed out clear plans for the reception and was completely ignored. This impacted me and my bridesmaids getting ready and the wedding day. My grandad was meant to be sat on a table near the toilets and the buffet instead he was at the far end of the room and found it incredibly difficult to get to the toilet he had to get a family member to help him everytime he needed to go and we had to get people to get his food for him as he couldn't manage to get to the buffet.
I needed some vegan alternatives at the buffet as there were people with allergies and dietary needs. Lynne had confirmed that there would be vegan chicken strips and pudding provided. This didn't happen at all they were left with a couple of Dips, curly fries and a bread bun.
The drinks for the toast were a total disaster. Everyone just got made to have prosecco when there were lots of people on soft drinks either because they were driving or T total and one guest is a recovering alcoholic and was highly offended by this. I had been told guests would be asked what they wanted this didn't happen at all.
The venue was being undressing 2 hours before it ended! Lynne was taking the bow off the back of a guests chair whilst she was still sat in it. This made guests leave early as they thought they were being kicked out.
And the final cherry on the top was finding out that the staff had been using the photo booth more than I had and using favours meant for guests.

Lives up to its name

I don’t usually write reviews, but this place deserves the credit. Heskin Hall Excellence really does go above and beyond. The venue itself is gorgeous - full of charm and character without feeling stuffy or outdated.

What really stood out, though, was how well everything was run. The team are organised, helpful, and genuinely care about making sure things go smoothly. You don’t feel like just another booking - they take the time to get things right.

The food was a pleasant surprise! not the usual bland event stuff. It actually felt like someone had put thought into it. And the atmosphere throughout the whole day was just spot on. Relaxed, welcoming, but still felt special.

If you’re thinking about booking Heskin Hall Excellence for your event, I’d absolutely recommend it. It’s one of those rare places that actually delivers what it promises.

A perfect day

We booked our wedding for October 2024.
The staff were accommodating and flexible to our needs and were able to craft a space and setting that was exactly what we were looking for.
We paid an incredibly reasonable rate for the venue, ceremony, meal, DJ, and private use of the grounds.
We were packed up by midnight, and the staff were quick and efficient in their work. They were able to quickly accommodate last minute changes, such as where to put the cake stand, with incredible grace and calm.
Any issues or problems were sorted very quickly.
Guests commented how impressed they were with the quality and taste of the food, which was cooked on site.
We were able to come back to the hall in the afternoon the day after and collect things that were too bulky or heavy to take back on the night of the wedding.
Overall, a fantastic day

The Perfect Day

Me and my husband Tom celebrated our magical day at Heskin Hall.

It was fantastic, and I'm writing this only several days so I'll try and separate our my emotions from what anyone reading this wants to know - which is how is the venue.

Venue - 5/5
Heskin Hall is beautiful. It is not overly grand, it is not overly sized, it is not overly formal. It is something of a Goldilocks - a perfect combination of everything you might want whilst retaining it's own personal charm.

We had, I think, approximately 80 guests in the end - around 50 in the day increasing to 80 at night, plus photographers. It could comfortably have accommodated more at night, however I would say the max you can do is 60 day / 120 night (the ceremony room is restricted beyond 60 I believe, if not by the venue by the registrar).

So, if you've got a very big guest list, you might have to look beyond this little gem unfortunately. For us, however, it was perfect.

We had exclusive use of the venue and I believe this is the case for all packages, so no sharing with other parties.

Staff - 5/5

Lynne, who will act as your wedding coordinator, is fantastic. You can approach her with anything. She has a fantastic sense of humor, is extremely down to earth, and will help you make sure your day is planned to perfection.

On the day itself, you will find Lynne in the background, however she will ask what you want and step forward to introduce you to the wedding breakfast etc if you wish. She will play as big or little a role as you want - and she will also round up naughty guests who aren't where they are when they should be (with a smile and some of her fantastic humor of course).

The rest of the staff were great too, all very friendly, couldn't do enough for us or our guests (no 'top table treatment's - they were great to everyone and not just us).

Price - 5/5

Speak to Lynne, check the brochure, you can make your day how you want. We went for a fairly typical classic package but I know Lynne will adapt the day to whatever you want it to be and will be upfront and honest with pricing etc.

All in all - please give this amazing venue a look in. I don't know what else to say - as I said at the start off this review, the wedding is still fresh and I am still taking it all in! Lynne and her team were a big part of why I feel so elated after my magical day.

Go and give Heskin Hall a visit (open virtually all the time - with a lovely little cafe!) - you won't be disappointed.

December 2023

Lynne was supportive from the initial email enquiry, right up to the end of the wedding day.

She knew what we wanted better than we did and accommodated any requests.

The rooms were beautifully decorated, and the food was perfect, which was what made the day.

Just what we wanted

We wanted a simple ceremony for ourselves and a couple of dozen guests. Lynne guided us through the whole process. We had a lovely ceremony outside in the gardens followed by a lovely meal. We couldn't have found a better venue. Everyone was fabulous.

Mrs Melanie Southworth

We had a fabulous experience with Heskin hall for our wedding. I am a Nurse and find very little time in planning a wedding. That's where Lynne came in and helped plan and made everything run as smooth as possible. I would have little freaks out and she was always there on the other end of the phone to calm me down. Heskin Hall is absolutely beautiful and had so many compliments from our guests. The food was spectacular again we had amazing compliments on the food and even my fussy autistic child loved his meal. I'd definitely recommend Lynne and Heskin hall and if I could I would definitely get married here again

Beautiful hall and gardens

Our day was perfect we held our reception at Heskin Hall that was exclusively for us and guests, it's beaming with character and quirkiness and fitted our theme. Lynne and her team are amazing nothing was to much trouble our props and accessories were arranged for us perfectly and their flexibility allowed us to have our day exactly how we'd visioned. The food was delicious and plentiful and the price of drinks were very reasonable.
Beautiful and antique, you even get to cut your cake with a sword!

Gorgeous Venue

Beautiful venue for a wedding, just needs a bit of love and care in other areas. Have a strong head about what you want and you'll be fine. We loved our wedding! The room for the ceremony was beautiful, the only problem was because my husband could see me walking down the aisle in the mirrors he never looked back, but we did get a photo as he saw me. Because of the time, the venue were quick to close up shop so started vacuuming the room, this meant we couldn't go and chat with our guests before leaving for the evening venue.

Lovely aged venue

Got married here in August 2017. Had a lovely day, staff were helpful, but not in your face. Everyone commented on how gorgeous and unique the venue was. Its a lovely grade 1 listed building, so you have to mainly use their dj ect, unless extra is paid. We were so happy with our choice of venue, you get the entire grounds to yourself included the wooded are. Would definitely recomend.
