What an amazing wedding venue! Easy for guests to reach and near to Bath, Bristol and London but it still feels secluded - this gothic manor sits in large beautiful grounds.
As you wander inside your eyes can't help but be drawn upward t the beautiful rococo plastered gothic ceilings : gold and yellow and blue and gold with lots of stone arches and walkways( I could easily have got lost!) . The drawing room where brides get ready could be straight out of a scene from Bridgerton with chandeliers, large windows, and mirrors to make it feel airy and ornate painted plaster ceilings. All very decadent - a perfect place for even the largest of bridal parties to get ready. Grittleton has an extremely cool cocktail bar with waiters who will make you up pretty much whatever you would like with flair and a smile in the evening. This bar and the library next to it are the perfect places for the groom and ushers to meet for a drink before the ceremony. I took the photographs at Suse and Rob's Summer Wedding and the three story central hall with deep blue walls and a sweeping iron staircase descending from the high balconies made the perfect back drop for photos of bride and bridesmaids as they descended to the ceremony in a sunny flower festooned Orangery. The Orangery like all of the spaces in Grittleton has plenty of capacity if you have lots of guests. I believe there is capacity for 200 in the ceremony, dining and evening with 30 bedrooms for guests. Suse and Rob's wedding had around 120 guests and this filled the place very nicely, without it feeling overfull or too empty. Its always important to match the size of your venue to the number of guests! If you value great photographs this is a stunning venue as it has so much variety in terms of locations, an amazing ceremony exit for confetti with the house behind, a long drive for some portraits with the stone architecture glowing in a warm sunset as well as shaded gardens for group photos on sunny days. I ate a very lovely three course meal and loved the veggie food :simple but very tasty heritage tomato, burrata and aubergine salad, followed by a creamy lemon and verbena risotto, with sticky toffee pudding which I sadly mostly missed due to photographing the speeches! I was impressed by the staff who I met : Emma , the wedding co-ordinator was super efficient and very kindly met me prior to the wedding so I could recce for locations for group photos/in case of rain, she also ensured that everything ran seamlessly to time throughout the day - this always helps photographers and vendors and also means guests arriving at different times know what's happening at what time so nobody misses key parts of the day - a very important but often overlooked element! If you are after a large, extremely beautiful building which is also in great condition ( after recent refurbishment) with a day that runs like clockwork and very nice food indeed then I'd recommend you have a look round Grittleton!

We had our daughter’s wedding at Grittleton House at the start of October 2025. In a nutshell – it was an amazing day and we could not have picked a better venue. It is a lovely building set in amazing grounds. The ability to set up each room separately (so separate rooms for the meet and greet, service and wedding breakfast) was really handy. We had lots of positive feedback about the quality of food (both the canapés and the wedding breakfast). Service was really good and the staff were unobtrusive but really helpful if you needed something. In short – the whole thing ran really smoothly. Having a separate room for the evening disco was great and the large bar area was never overcrowded even with over 100 thirsty guests. One of the things that concerned us when looking at other venues was the use of a temporary bar with limited stock whereas at Grittleton House there was a really good selection of drinks that were also competitively priced. The bar staff were also really efficient and again – nothing was too much trouble. Finally, the rooms in the main house are lovely and made those that stayed there feel really special. To sum up, we had a fantastic day and couldn’t fault anything about either the venue or the staff. We are so pleased we found this venue for our special day.

Everything about this house is incredible. The staff go above and beyond, nothing was to much trouble for them, they made us feel both relaxed and stress free and every thing part was perfect. Thank you Grittleton House it was the very best.

We found Grittleton House online and went to visit in November 2023, a month after our engagement. We went in with an open mind, and left having chosen our venue. Emma and Nelson were our main contacts and the communication was exceptional. Emma made sure we had everything we needed and helped us with the planning, so nothing was left out! Every element of our special day was perfect - from the venue itself, the staff, the food and how well everyone was looked after. Thank you to everyone again for such a perfect day.

We were married at Grittleton House on 23rd December 2024 and it was AMAZING. But breaking that down a little - Emma is extremely efficient, full of good ideas and always gets things done. Along with Nelson's support, and the rest of the team, our day ran like clockwork. We honestly didn't have to worry or think about a single thing on the day, and the few thoughts we did have, were already in hand. The House suited us perfectly, as we wanted one roof to get married under, have our wedding breakfast and then party, and what a roof that was! Grittleton has a fantastic interior/decor and literally every guest complimented the venue and the fabulous food that went with it. We cannot speak highly enough of Emma, Nelson, the team or indeed the House.

Everyone there had a magical day in this wonderful old house. The rooms were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. We had less than 5 weeks to arrange a wedding due to a close family member being diagnosed with a terminal illness. If you are looking for the perfect wedding venue then Grittleton House is the place for you. From start to finish, Emma and the team make the whole process so very easy.

The house itself is incredibly beautiful, and makes for a perfect backdrop for a magical ceremony. The bedrooms in the house are amazing, and the bridal dressing room is something to behold (think Bridgerton).

The food is incredible. Our guests continuously complimented the food all day. We would thoroughly recommend the Cornish Pasties for the evening food choice. These come from Bude and everyone was really impressed with the quality and range of flavours available.

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this venue to anyone. It was the perfect day for us.

Grittleton House was the perfect venue for our August 2023 wedding. Not only is the house itself stunning, but the grounds are well kept and look beautiful at anytime of year. We felt like royalty being able to host our friends and family in a venue like Grittleton. But above all else, if we had to do our wedding over again, we would choose Grittleton House every time for the staff alone.
Emma, the wedding coordinator, is enough reason to have your wedding here as any. Even before we booked Grittleton, she was on hand to answer any questions, and was available whenever we needed her right up to the big day. She was always happy to help us, and be on hand to assist us when we had problems arise with other aspects of wedding planning. Her knowledge and experience meant that she was always able to advise us on the best options, all whilst making us feel like the only couple getting married at the venue. For someone like myself, who loves to plan but gets very easily stressed, Emma was the perfect coordinator, and I always felt so much more relaxed after speaking with her; there was no one else I would’ve trusted with our wedding as much as her.
Nelson was on hand the day of our wedding, and was a joy to have around. During the set up of the wedding, he knew the names of everyone there, and their relation to myself and my husband, without me being aware he was ever introduced to them. He was aware of what task everyone was currently completing, and what still needed to be done. I had planned this wedding for just shy of 2 years, and Nelson knew the vision better in 20 minutes than I did.
All of the wait staff from the wedding day and cleaning staff that we met the following morning were so polite and welcoming to this family home. Even when we were late checking out, they couldn’t have been kinder and more understanding.
The food is lovely and all allergies and dietary requirements were catered for incredibly well. The bedrooms in the stables were clean and comfortable, but the rooms in the main house were outstanding – beautifully decorated and full of little amenities that made it feel even more homely.
On the morning of the wedding, we had a couple of dramas, which could have easily dampened the mood of the whole day. One of which was handled incredibly well by the team, and we cannot thank them enough for their help and support; on the day, and after the wedding.
For us, the best part of Grittleton House were all the little touches we received as the newlywed couple. I wont detail them on here, as they weren’t mentioned to us throughout the whole process and were lovely surprise to find out about on the day, and I would hate to take that away from other couples. But it really did make us feel like the most important people in the world, and the whole team felt like extended family.

When we began our wedding venue search we knew we wanted somewhere that was easily accessible for friends and family across the UK, that had onsite and local accommodation, offered exclusive hire and wasn't a hotel. With that in mind, Grittleton ticked all our boxes plus more that we didn't know we had! It's a strikingly beautiful and well kept venue that is very grand, but isn't overwhelming and still feels welcoming.
From the very beginning Emma, the Wedding Coordinator was a great help and source of advice throughout the planning and final details and is so personable, you really don't feel like just another couple. During our wedding day, Nelson, Venue Manager was on hand to guide us through the day and make sure things ran exactly as we wanted them to and it was reassuring to have him there. All of the staff were friendly and professional.
The Drawing Room where the Bridal party get ready in is beautiful and allows the Bride get ready in comfort, feeling relaxed with no worries about transport!
We had the most perfect wedding day, with guests telling us how good and plentiful the food was, how great the venue and bedrooms were and how fun the day was. We wouldn't change a thing!

We had the perfect wedding day at Grittleton House. The venue is incredibly beautiful and you can choose from a range of rooms and spaces for the different parts of the day so that it works for you.

The venue hire includes support with planning, setting up and managing the day, helping to make sure everything runs smoothly. This was a huge help and took a lot of the pressure off us when planning the day.

The food and drink was amazing, with huge portions and great staff. We are still getting compliments from guests about the canapés and meal!

Another huge benefit of the venue is that is has onsite accommodation, which means that guests don’t need to travel at the end of the night. The rooms in the main house are beautiful and there is plenty of room in the stable block. We also booked out all of the rooms in the village at the Manor Farm and Neeld Arms B&Bs, which are just a short walk away.

Grittleton House is not a budget venue, but for the quality of the venue, food and service, we felt it was excellent value for money.
