About
Chiltern Open Air Museum in Chalfont St. Peter, Buckinghamshire, is an outdoor museum of rescued and reconstructed historic buildings and a working farm set in 45 acres of beautiful woodland and countryside. This quirky and charming site provides a very unique location for a wedding ceremony and intimate reception, and a great backdrop for your wedding photographs.
The Museum has 35 reconstructed buildings, seven of which are now licensed for civil ceremonies, including an Iron Age roundhouse (believed to be the only one licensed for civil ceremonies in the country), tin chapel, Victorian toll house (currently under restoration) and Medieval barns.
The Museum is available on a dry hire basis only. There are no restrictions on suppliers and no corkage fees, allowing you to plan a wedding suited to your own style. There are two barn wedding venues available: Northolt barn, and Arborfield barn, both of which are licensed for civil ceremonies. The Victorian toll house, Iron Age roundhouse, Henton tin chapel, and Thame Vicarage are also licensed for civil ceremonies. Each building can be hired separately, or as part of a combined package to increase capacity and spread your wedding across the beautiful site.
The Museum has a list of suppliers who are familiar with the site, or wedding couples are welcome to bring in their own suppliers if they would prefer; all the Museum asks is that they provide them with copies of their insurance and health and safety documents.
