About
Bolton Masonic Hall is a Victorian wedding venue in the centre of Bolton, Greater Manchester. Purpose-built in 1887 as the permanent home of Bolton's Freemasons, the building was comprehensively refurbished in 2020 and now welcomes couples from across the North West for both their ceremony and their reception under one roof. Original period features sit alongside modern facilities: wood-panelled rooms, leaded windows and high ceilings throughout, a fully licensed bar, a permanent dancefloor, full wifi coverage, and lift access between all floors. A dedicated Events Team has been hosting weddings at the Hall since 2022, supported by in-house catering and events partners Burnt Fig.
Facilities and Capacity
The Hall offers four distinct spaces that can be used individually or in combination across the course of the day. The Large Lodge Room, on the first floor, is licensed by Bolton Council for civil ceremonies. Wood-panelled walls, leaded windows, and the kind of character that simply is not available at a chain hotel give this room a real sense of occasion. The Jubilee Dining Room, also on the first floor, is the Hall's largest reception space, accommodating up to 120 guests for a seated wedding breakfast with flexible layouts for round tables, long tables, or theatre-style configurations. The Silverwell Dining Room, on the ground floor with step-free access from the main entrance, suits more intimate gatherings of up to 50 seated guests. The Farnworth Bar, fitted with a permanent dancefloor during the 2020 refurbishment, is where most weddings end the evening with drinks and dancing. All four rooms are connected by lift. Bolton Parish Church car park is immediately adjacent to the building, with further public parking in the town centre, and the Hall is a ten-minute walk from Bolton Station with good links to Manchester and across the North West.
Services Offered
Everything at Bolton Masonic Hall happens under one roof, without the logistics of coordinating outside suppliers. The Events Team works with couples from the initial viewing through to the evening reception, shaping the day around your numbers, your preferences, and your budget. Catering is provided by our in-house catering and events partners Burnt Fig, who prepare wedding breakfasts, canapes, buffets, afternoon tea, and evening food freshly on the day. Sample menus can be downloaded from the venue's website, and the team is happy to tailor any menu to suit your guests. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free diets are catered for as standard, with advance notice given for other dietary needs or allergies. Couples are welcome to bring their own DJ, band, or playlist, with the permanent dancefloor and fully licensed bar ready to go. Free guided viewings are offered so you can see each room, discuss layouts, and talk through your plans before you book.
