The romantic ambience of Cambridgeshire’s Bassmead Manor Barns is apparent from the moment you arrive along the tree-lined driveway. Charming and elegant, this family-owned barn, nestled within the medieval moat of an ancient manor house, offers a heady combination of history and heritage, alongside contemporary style and exceptional service.
Facilities and Capacity
Couples are invited to tie the knot in the 300-year old Rickety Barn, a lovingly restored traditional timber barn with solid oak beams and wrought iron chandeliers. With twinkling fairy lights, it's the perfect space to say 'I do'. Seating up to 150 guests, it also features a 'nook' on the second floor, the ideal spot for a photographer or musician. In the warmer months, couples can also choose to tie the knot in The Thatched Bower. This space offers views of the surrounding countryside plus it's own waiting area separated from the main ceremony space, ensuring that big reveal moment still happens before walking down the aisle.
After the ceremony has taken place, invite your guests to enjoy reception drinks in the modern Moat Barn with its sophisticated bar, spilling out onto the pretty landscaped gardens to mingle amongst the peacocks. The Bridge Barn is the setting for your wedding breakfast at Bassmead Manor Barns. Modern and flooded with natural daylight, spectacular features include a dramatic timbered ceiling and impressive oak doors offering views across the gardens and moat. A delicate, neutral colour scheme allows you to create your own style on a blank canvas, while its elegant simplicity needs little other than some beautiful floral arrangements to bring the outside in. The two barns become a spacious open-plan setting for your evening celebration. As the sun goes down it's time to dance the night away or perhaps enjoy the patio outside and wander into the starlit gardens.
You won't want your magical day to end, so, with that in mind, newlyweds can spend the night in Dove Cottage – your very own boutique style honeymoon cottage. Appletree Cottage can be reached just over the moat bridge and features seven beautifully designed bedrooms ideal for your closest friends and family. Enjoy a private breakfast the following morning, or greet your guests in Appletree Cottage to share stories of a wonderful day.
