A beautiful wedding venue in the heart of the South Downs countryside. Exclusively yours, Alfriston Gardens brings together elegant event spaces, landscaped gardens, shepherd's huts and lodges, offering refined luxury and seamless versatility.
Setting
Tucked into the East Sussex countryside, Alfriston Gardens offers exclusive use of a private setting where the entire celebration unfolds in one place. Gardens, ceremony spaces and reception areas sit close together, creating a natural, easy flow from one part of the day to the next. Couples can enjoy the beauty of the surroundings without worrying about logistics, knowing guests remain together throughout.
Designed with a Your Day, Your Way philosophy, the venue offers flexibility without compromise, allowing couples to shape a celebration that is uniquely theirs.
Ceremony
The historic barn blends 17th-century architecture with contemporary design and features a stylish mezzanine offering elevated views of the ceremony below. Alternatively, couples can exchange vows in the beautiful gardens. Each option is thoughtfully positioned to ensure guests can move smoothly from arrival to the ceremony space, with a clear wet-weather plan to keep the day stress-free.
Reception
After the ceremony, guests can enjoy drinks in the gardens or, if the British weather prevails, in the modern lodge, before everyone gathers for the wedding breakfast in the main reception space.
Accommodating up to 155 guests, the room is filled with natural light from a central skylight, while a bi-fold glass wall opens onto the decking and gardens, creating a celebration that flows effortlessly from indoors to out. As evening arrives, dancing follows dining without the need for multiple room changes. A spacious bar and fully equipped catering kitchen ensure smooth service, creating a relaxed, beautifully considered experience for couples and guests alike.
Accommodation
On-site accommodation allows up to 58 guests to stay within the grounds, including the use of nine charming shepherd’s huts, a dedicated honeymoon cottage and two spacious lodges. This allows close family and friends to remain at the heart of the celebration, extending the experience beyond the wedding day itself.
Additional accommodation options in the nearby village make it easy for larger guest lists, keeping travel simple and time together the focus.
Food & Drink
Dining at Alfriston Gardens is tailored to each couple. Menu and wine tastings let couples experience their wedding meal in advance, while Black Pepper Hospitality, the venue’s catering partner, creates personalised menus with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. From formal dinners to relaxed family-style feasts, including special dietary requirements, every dish is prepared with expert care.
Sustainability
Sustainability has been carefully considered throughout Alfriston Gardens, from the protection of its surrounding landscape to planting that supports bees, butterflies and other endangered species. This thoughtful approach to the grounds and environment helped the venue earn the National LIS Award for Best Development in 2023.
