My name is Jana Forsyth, I am a professional live artist / illustrator based in Exeter, Devon. My mission is to make your big day even more fun and memorable by capturing your most special moments in art, that can be treasured for generations. My approach is very personal and I always make sure my services are good fit for your wedding! I am especially up for anything fun, unusual and non-traditional.
I OFFER THREE SERVICES:
- Documentary style, candid sketches that capture your day as it unfolds. The sketches will be bound into a hand-made album. I call this Story Of Your Wedding. The sketches will also be displayed at your venue on the day.
- Live guest portrait sessions in 3 different styles. I can paint portraits of individuals, couples, or small groups. They can be drawn live from observation (with the guests sitting for me) or from photos.
- Wedding oil painting from a photo of your choice. Not only it makes a special reminder of your wedding day, it’s also a beautiful piece of art you can display on your wall. I don't paint with oils on location for many practical reasons so a painting can be done any time after the wedding.
Live sketches and portraits not only provide great entertainment and an element of surprise on the day, but they also give you and your guests something to enjoy in the years to come.
I have decades of experience in art and have been illustrating weddings since 2018.

Amazing memories
Would 1000% recommend. So lovely to be able to have more than just photographs captured from our day. So many of our guests commented and enjoyed watching Jana sketching during the day and her talent is unbelievable. Would absolutely book her and have no hesitation to tell everyone else to do so too.

Incredibly talented
We contacted Jana earlier this year, I had looked at various other artists but I was looking for someone who would also include faces in the sketches and not just 2 lines for the eyes. I was really impressed that not only could Jana do this but she had 3 different styles of sketching that are all as equally impressive. We booked Jana for the full day for guest portraits and also a sketchbook of events through the day, Jana was brilliant all day and our guests were all very impressed with the portraits. When I walked by the display I could tell who each portrait was as the likeness had been done extremely well. In a meeting prior to the wedding Jana said we could either let our guests take the portraits home at the end of the evening or she would take them and scan the images then send the originals back to us, I think this is an excellent additional offering as it means we can have a high quality copy of all the sketches and send the originals to our guests. We have since had lots of people say they can’t wait to get their copy so they can frame it and we have also shared the digital versions which multiple people have added to their social media. Not only are the sketches a lovely keepsake for our guests but it is so nice to see people sharing the images online as it brings back great memories of our day. I can’t wait to see the rest of the sketches Jana does for us from events through the day and I know they will be well worth the wait.

Highly Recommend!
We are so thrilled that we booked Jana to sketch at our wedding - we booked the combo package for a mix of both guest portraits and a ceremony sketch, and Jana was available from the start of the ceremony until early evening. It was such a fun activity which all our guests loved, the sketches are fantastic - we can't believe how accurate they are, we were able to instantly recognise each guest and they've been such lovely keepsakes for our friends and family to have to remember the wedding day. Our ceremony sketch is particularly special and something we will treasure forever - it is so beautiful and we were overjoyed when we saw it. Jana was so friendly, accommodating and laid-back, and sent us the sketches so quickly after our wedding which was exciting and lovely to receive whilst in our post-wedding bubble! We would highly highly recommend Jana if you're considering a wedding sketcher or looking for an activity to entertain guests during your wedding day. Thank you so much Jana! :)

One of the top aspects of the wedding!
Jana is truly brilliant - she was so incredibly popular at our wedding with portraits and our guests all commented how fun and unique it was!
Right from the first contact Jana was easy to communicate with, responsive and flexible with her timings. She explained clearly the different types of sketches and how she does them, which made for seamless execution on the day that fitted perfectly with the venue. The digital portraits were a huge hit, because guests could have their copy right away to download.
She has a wonderful ability to blend in with the crowd and has a skilled eye for moments to sketch - she even got a sketch of me having my makeup done and my make up artist cried at how beautiful it was!
You can tell Jana is so passionate about what she does, and I know she’s still working hard after the wedding as new portrait sketches become available.

Amazing experience
We booked Jana to sketch at our wedding, and it was one of the best decisions we made during wedding planning. The sketches are absolutely beautiful and incredibly lifelike. She captured some lovely moments of us and our guests, and guests really enjoyed looking at the display and watching Jana sketch live during the reception. Such a lovely person to speak to throughout the booking process and on the day, can't recommend Jana enough!
