The Small Details
Emily
Owner & Event Director
A little about me, I didn't realise how super hard it was to write about myself so here goes....
My name is Emily and I am a dedicated wedding and events planner. I have been working in the wonderful world of events for 10 and a half years now and in that time have managed to gain a fab list of trusted suppliers along the way. One of the most important elements of the planning process is the ability to be confident and gel with your wedding planner- the process should be full of love, laughter and a few spreadsheets. It's vital that the three of us can chat about all things wedding-related as well as build a wonderful relationship along the way, so here is a little detail about me:
Personal life: I married my Wonderful Husband Chester in July 2019 at the beautiful Brympton House, we had a super day surrounded by our nearest and dearest. Our Insanely beautiful (yet slightly devilish) toddler Reuben dressed up in a little three-piece and melted the hearts of all our guests. I would say, if anything, celebrating my own day gave me an insight into 2 things 1) adrenaline is AWSOME 2) children will do what they want to do and there is no point stressing about the way they will act or when they decide to spill chocolate down their white cotton dress at 11 am in the morning.... we got married at 2 pm!
We are now a Family of 4 with little miss Theadora indigo joining the clan in November 2023.
I am a massive animal lover, we have 6 dogs, three cats, two horses, two goats and an array of peacocks and other funny birds!
But finally, my all-time best friend FRANK the Pomchi, is very small but has the attitude of a Doberman and the fierceness of a lion! He was my first love and although his barking drives me insane he makes me laugh every day. No doubt if you book with me you will hear Frank saying hello whilst we are on the phone (he likes to make his presence known in all cases).
So why weddings..... I am a huge fan of all things wedding, my single favourite part of my job happens in literally the space of 30 seconds and no matter what plasters a huge smile across my face: I walk the bride or groom into the ceremony room, the groom/bride has there back to the audience, bridesmaids walk the aisle, the groom/bride turns around and then it happens BOOM the most wonderful magical moment, they both look at each other and pure love explodes. Oh my wow it makes all the late-night emailing and missed soft play dates worth it! There is nothing better than that 30 seconds of pure emotion, you can't help but smile so hard your cheeks hurt, and then back to reality.
Another thing I love about my job is the huge amount of organisation involved. There is nothing I love more than planning the meticulous details of your big day! I am a self-confessed stationary addict and lover of all things perfectly organised, I use this as my key strength in event planning and truly love the fact that every single wedding is so different.
My 3 Top Tips:
Apart from hiring a wedding planner my biggest tips are as follows
1) Venue - Ceremony - Food and Drink - Photography, these are your key elements when starting the process, I call them layer one in the planning schedule. Once you have conquered the above everything else just slots into place!
2) Use as many suppliers suggested by your venue as possible, there is nothing more useful than a supplier that knows the venue inside out.
3) Always record your communications via email- after every phone call I always send my clients a follow-up email to go over what we have discussed- this is so vital as the wedding planning process can be really busy and it's easy to have a verbal conversation without getting things confirmed so popping it in writing allows everyone to have a really clear trail of what's going on.
Finally, I love to share the suppliers I work with and weddings I have assisted with so please follow my Instagram page @ily.wedding or Facebook ilyweddingcoordination
