Based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, and shipping to all the UK, The Pure Haven is a little candle studio in the Cotswolds, where every candle is poured by hand in natural soy wax and made especially for the couple who ordered it.

The wedding favours are where it all began. Small heart tins, printed on both sides — names and the date on the front, and a message of the couple's choosing on the back, with no extra charge for it. The design can be changed to suit whatever the couple has in mind, so a colour picked out of the invitations, a little motif from the stationery, or an idea that's still only half-formed can all be worked into it. Photographs can be printed too, for anyone who'd like something a bit more personal.

It all started with printed labels, and it's come a long way since. Everything is now printed straight onto the glass and the tin with a UV printer, which means the design sits on the surface itself rather than on a label stuck over the top. It also means the colours can be far richer, and photographs come out beautifully.

The scents are made with both essential oils and fragrance oils, and they can be blended to order. If a couple has something particular in mind — the flowers they're carrying, a scent that means something to them, or simply a note they love — it's usually possible to make it up for them.

Most couples order somewhere between fifty and two hundred favours. Bigger numbers are very welcome with a little notice, and a sample can always be sent out first, so there are no surprises.

There are personalised candles as well, for bridesmaids, for mums, and for anyone else the couple would like to thank — the same soy wax and the same care, just made a little larger.

Couples are always welcome to ask for something that isn't on the shelf. More often than not, it can be made, and it's a lovely part of the job to be asked. Every order is poured, printed, checked and wrapped by the same pair of hands, so there's always someone who knows exactly where an order has got to.
