Emily is a qualified independent wedding celebrant and founder of the Three Shires Celebrant, located in Buxton, Derbyshire. She is based in the picture-perfect Peak District, where she lives with her husband, and their two children. She creates and delivers one-of-a-kind ceremonies that beautifully reflect her couples, and set just the tone they want for the rest of their Big Day!

Background

Emily started her professional life as a broadcast journalist, where she developed a love of storytelling and the confidence and composure to present live the BBC. Her career evolved into charity communications, where she further honed her interview and writing skills, working with people from all walks of life, and being entrusted to tell their stories far and wide. She is a natural communicator with a warm, fun, and compassionate nature, which puts couples at ease and makes them feel supported throughout.

Military

As a former military spouse, Emily spent many years living overseas, bringing up her family while on the move, juggling deployments and frequent house moves. Those experiences taught her resilience, adaptability, and, above all, the ability to keep calm and carry on!

Now settled in beautiful Buxton, the inspiration behind Three Shires Celebrant comes from one of Emily's favourite local beauty spots: The Three Shires Head, where Derbyshire, Cheshire and Staffordshire meet. It’s a place that symbolises connection, and the coming together of different paths – a perfect reflection of the ceremonies Emily creates. While the name is rooted in this special location, she's certainly not limited to those three counties. Emily loves to travel and can conduct ceremonies UK-wide, or further afield. She's a fluent French speaker, which comes in very handy for those gorgeous Chateaux ceremonies!
