Hi, my name is Sharon Atherton, and I believe your wedding day should be the moment you tell your love story, celebrating how far you have come together and the lifelong commitment you’re choosing to make in front of your family and friends.
My own wedding took place in March 2014. Although it was enchanting in many ways, it wasn’t perfect. We married at our local registry office, and the ceremony was short, basic, and didn’t capture who we are as a couple. From that day on, I’ve been determined to ensure no other couple feels that same disappointment.
That’s why I took the plunge and trained with the ICPC, completing my NOCN Qualification in Civil Celebrancy, which was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It is a genuine pleasure to wake up each day knowing I’m going to meet wonderful people and put a smile on their faces.
My style is supportive, relaxed and reassuring. I will never expect you to do anything that doesn’t feel like you. I’ll listen carefully to your story, get a sense of how you want your day to feel, and offer ideas to make your ceremony bespoke and unique, but the final decision will ALWAYS be yours.
Together, we’ll build a relationship that feels safe, fun and trusting, so you can enjoy every step of the journey towards a ceremony that truly reflects your love.

Hi, I’m Sharon, and I’d love to share a little more about myself because choosing the right celebrant is all about finding someone whose energy, warmth and style match yours and feel just right for your special day.
I am a vibrant, family‑focused person who brings warmth, personality and genuine connection to every relationship in life. Married and mum to four grown up children and a proud nana of two, I know exactly how powerful family stories and dynamics can be. I will weave that understanding beautifully into the ceremony I craft for you.
I am sociable, friendly and full of life and I love meeting friends, good food, live music and the odd drink or two on a night out. I am also a passionate football fan and a loyal season ticket holder at Mansfield Town FC, which is my local football team.
Along with my husband, friends and other family members travelling the world is one of my favourite hobbies, so destination weddings are definately my thing. When I do have a spare half hour to myself I love to settle into a corner of the garden in summer or on the sofa under a blanket in the winter and emerse myself in a good fictional novel with a coffee.
With over 20 years’ experience in NHS management, I bring professionalism, calm confidence and exceptional people skills to the celebrant role. Today, I deliver bespoke ceremonies across all life’s milestones while also shaping the future of the profession as Training Programme Manager for the International College of Professional Celebrants in Settle.
Whether I am meeting new couples, supporting families, or mentoring celebrants in training, my superpower is simple, I 'listen'. I love hearing people’s stories and turning them into unforgettable moments filled with meaning, joy and authenticity.
