Richard the Celebrant is an award-winning, fully qualified wedding celebrant based in North Yorkshire, creating bespoke wedding ceremonies and vow renewals across North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, and Teesside. A three-time Hitched Award winner, he's a recommended celebrant at Rudding Park, Rushpool Hall, Wentbridge House, and Thicket Priory, and a regular at some wonderful venues across Yorkshire, including Carlton Towers, Hackness Grange, Scarborough Spa, and Hazel Gap Barn.
Trained by the Fellowship of Independent Celebrants — one of the UK's leading celebrant training bodies — Richard's qualification isn't legally required, but reflects his commitment to giving every couple the very best.
Relaxed but structured, he delivers ceremonies with warmth, style, and a healthy dose of humour. Every script is written from scratch, around you. He works with all faiths and none — religious, humanist, secular, interfaith, and same-sex weddings — and offers vow renewals too.

About Richard
A seasoned wedding-industry professional, Richard also works as a Supporting Artist in films and TV (recent credits: Bank of Dave, Peaky Blinders, Victoria, The Confessions of Frannie Langton) and is the unlikely winner of Channel 4's Come Dine With Me. Outside ceremonies, you'll find him on his Kawasaki or walking Mabel the Spaniel and Freddie, his rescue Basset/Cocker cross.

Perfect ceremony produced and delivered by Richard!
Richard was brilliant. From our initial call, he immediately put us at ease, carefully listened to everything we shared, and then created an exceptional, unique ceremony that felt truly personal and exceeded our expectations.
All of our guests commented on how much they enjoyed the ceremony and how perfect Richard’s words and chosen poems were. Richard also took the time to review our vows, and he printed the vows, certificate, and ceremony for us as keepsake copies.

Personal and Moving
Richard was amazing. We had two Zoom calls with Richard before our wedding. He was so easy to talk to, and we felt that we clicked really well with him. He spent time getting to know us, and therefore, his words were so personal and moving. He asked several of our friends and family to share messages for us, which he read out at the end of the ceremony, which was such a lovely touch. One of these was very funny,
and Richard delivered it perfectly. So many people commented on how lovely the ceremony was, and how well Richard spoke. We would highly
recommend him.

From the first meeting we had with him, we knew he was going to be great.
Richard spent time and effort getting to know us, asking questions and tailoring the most beautiful ceremony for our wedding.
Practically every guest commented on how lovely the ceremony was. How personal it felt and how Richard wove the story of our relationship into the very fabric of the wedding itself.
He was calm, prepared and engaging. Found all the right quotes, and made everything easy, fun and deeply connected to us as a couple.

More Than A Job
Wedding planning is stressful, and when you push all details aside, the celebrant is the one person you need to depend on. This person gets to deliver your ceremony in front of all of your family & friends. This is the moment. We couldn’t have wished for a better celebrant for our wedding day. Richard was amazing from start to finish, from our first email contact, planning meetings right the way through to the ceremony - he was professional, reliable, quick to respond, attentive to detail, captured our story perfectly and was even in control of our ceremony on the day. He helped the groom make last-minute changes to the venue, kept him calm and collected, whilst his nerves built waiting at the altar. Richard addressed the room with confidence and style. He mixed the perfect level of humour with the significance of a ceremony. We’ve watched the video back time and time again and just love every second. We would not doubt in a heartbeat book Richard again, if we were to do it all over again. It’s more than a job for Richard; his heart is in it, and he cares deeply. He went above and beyond for us. Outstanding!
We can't begin to describe how wonderful it was to have Richard as the celebrant for our renewal of vows. He was an absolute pleasure to work with - easygoing, professional, and so personable. He simplified all the planning so it was meaningfully organised, ensured nothing was overlooked, and helped make the event itself truly enjoyable in every respect. He took the time to get to know our small party, put everyone at ease, and made the actual ceremony the personal and beautiful renewal we hoped for. He also very generously gifted us with a few songs and WOW! Seriously - just tremendous, and we can't say enough good things! So happy he was such an important part of our special day!
