ChrisJFilms is the work of Midlands-based wedding filmmaker Chris Jezierski, who has been filming weddings since 2016 and has now been part of more than 500 wedding days.

That is a lot of speeches, nervous grooms, missing buttonholes, last-minute weather changes, emotional dads, questionable dance moves and people insisting they are “terrible on camera” five minutes before looking completely natural on it.

After all of that, Chris still genuinely loves weddings.

What keeps him interested is that no two days are ever quite the same. The venue might be familiar, the timings might look similar on paper, but the people never are. Different families, different friendships, different humour, different stories. Those are the things he looks for when he films.

His approach is simple: guide, don’t stage.

Chris is not interested in turning a wedding into an all-day photoshoot or asking couples to repeatedly recreate things that already happened. Most of the day is allowed to unfold naturally. When a little direction helps, he will step in, find good light, suggest movement or give the couple somewhere to start — then get out of the way and let them be themselves.

That usually means plenty of laughing, walking, talking and occasionally wondering why they were ever worried about being filmed in the first place.

Couples regularly describe Chris as calm and easy to be around, which matters to him more than almost anything else. A wedding filmmaker spends a surprisingly large part of the day standing close to some very personal moments. Chris believes the job is not just knowing where to put a camera. It is knowing when to speak, when to help, when to disappear into the background and when something important is about to happen before anyone else has noticed.

Experience helps.

After more than 500 weddings, very little surprises him anymore. Rain arrives. Timings slip. Registrars change plans. Speeches run long. A button comes off. Someone cannot find the rings. The best man suddenly decides his five-minute speech should be twenty-five.

The wedding continues.

Chris stays calm.

The filmmaking itself sits somewhere between documentary and cinematic. The real events of the day always come first, but they are filmed and edited with intention. Light, composition, movement, sound, music and pacing all matter, because the goal is not simply to prove that the day happened.

It is to make it possible to feel some of it again.

Sound is a particularly important part of Chris's work. The way someone laughs, a shaky voice during vows, something a parent says during a speech, or a completely ordinary sentence from somebody who will one day be deeply missed can become more valuable with time than anyone realises on the wedding day.

That idea has increasingly shaped the way Chris thinks about wedding films.

Beautiful images matter. So do the people inside them.

Every wedding is edited personally by Chris. The work is not outsourced and the films are not dropped into a template. The music, pacing, structure and emotional rhythm are built around the couple and the day they actually had.

Some weddings are elegant and quiet. Some are chaotic and hilarious. Some have huge emotional speeches. Some have a packed dance floor and very little interest in elegance after 9pm.

They should not all become the same film.

Chris offers traditional wedding videography alongside a more involved filmmaking experience for couples who want to preserve more of their story, personalities and voices. Depending on the option chosen, coverage can include preparations through to the evening, a cinematic highlight film, full ceremony, full speeches, first dance, trailer, professional audio and drone footage where possible.

The important parts are preserved in full, while the main film gives the day shape and feeling.

ChrisJFilms is based in the Midlands and regularly films weddings across Birmingham, Staffordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Shropshire and beyond. Over the years Chris has returned to many venues repeatedly, but he still approaches each wedding as its own story rather than another version of the one before it.

There is no attempt to manufacture a “perfect wedding” for the camera.

The wind can blow.

The children can wander into shot.

Someone can laugh at the wrong moment.

Dad can make a joke he probably should not have made.

Those things are often the bits people remember.

Chris's job is to notice them.
