Myself and partner went to an open day at this venue, fell in love, spoke with all the 'right' people and it sounded amazing.
We booked within 48 hours and signed the contracts for a 'wedding' in 2 years time.
As this place is called 'Woodland Weddings' you would expect that you would be able to have your official, legal wedding with a registrar which unless religious, is what everyone wants and expects.
Lets preface, this key piece of information was not disclosed at the open day at all, and it is not on any page of their website that only celebrant weddings are allowed.
We spoke with their preferred celebrant and took her card, out of politeness, all the while knowing we would be booking a registrar.
24 hours after we signed the contracts and paid the deposit, we enquired about registrar information to understand the arrangements needed; only at this stage were we told that they do not have the facilities to accommodate this and legal weddings are not permitted.
At that point, again less than 24 hours later, we asked if we could cancel the booking, which was 2 years away at the time, as we felt we had been misled by the very fact 'Weddings' is in the name and most people want a legal wedding on site.
Especially at the cost it is to hold a wedding at the venue, to then find out we wouldn't be able to get married there but have to get married off site prior was a huge no for us, as is the lack of pre-wedding facilities to get ready among other things you do not consider until further down the line.
At this stage, the mood completely changed and the venue was not willing to provide us with the deposit we'd paid only 48 hours beforehand and are in fact still withholding now - their reasoning was because they didn't have enough money as a business to pay us back our 10% deposit and were/are struggling. Their contracts apparently do not hold the 2 week breathing period that is a legally mandated timeframe set by the government and we will only receive our money if the date is booked again. We have still heard nothing after a year.
The whole experience still makes me emotional, what was meant to be the best experience of our lives, quickly became a nightmare and because our deposit was withheld, something we had saved so hard for meant we have had to start from the beginning to save again and are no closer to getting having our dream day.
A big, expensive lesson learned and I hope you do your due diligence before booking this venue.

Having our wedding at Lila's Wood was by far the best decision we made in terms of wedding planning. It was romantic, picturesque and everyone who attended rated the venue so highly. The effort put into creating the perfect space for the wedding was noticeable and this was all done with such ease and without any stress for myself or my Husband. The decorations to hire, the bars, the service, the location and the staff were all exceptional. If we could do it all again, we would, in a heart beat! It was amazing to be able to camp on site and the Honey tent was just perfect. Thank you Lila's Wood for the most perfect day and the most perfect memories!

We had our renewal of vows at Woodland Weddings. The location is gorgeous and all facilities provided are very convenient and work well. The staff is very responsive and go out of their way to accommodate last minute changes. We were worried about the weather, but despite it raining before our event, the staff made it so that the soggy surface would not be an issue.
