On the the day of the wedding I can not fault them on anything, the ceremony was beautiful with them big windows upstairs letting lots of light in,then afterwards everyone having fun at the bar, then back upstairs after they had set up for the meal and they had decorated just as we had dreamt, food was excellent and served quickly,no complaints there.the DJ did as was requested and was fun,the whole day was magical and I would do it all again at the sun for the following reasons-excellent value for money, you get a lot for your buck here and everyone is happy, the professionalism of the staff was spot on,the Venue is lovely, old world but cosy and nice, lots of large windows for natural light.we only had one problem the whole day,and that was parking is minimal.other than that, perfect day!!
We booked our wedding with The Sun Hotel and couldn't have asked for a better day. They were helpful from start to finish with advice on catering, booking rooms for guests, table layouts, etc. We got married at the Sun Hotel (rather than registry office), in the beautiful Ballroom. The staff were great, the Manager came to get me when it was time for the ceremony, gave me a few minutes to gather myself/shed a few nervous tears before walking down the aisle. They really know their stuff.... I hardly noticed they were there and yet everything was done just as we'd asked. Arrival drinks were ready for the guests after the photos and in that time the Ballroom was set up for the wedding breakfast. Our wedding breakfast was delicious, we'd met & discussed with the chef and he helped us decide on a lovely menu. They sorted us out too when it came to speeches... they kept all the gifts/flowers cool on a hot day and brought them out when needed.Sent on 14/02/2014
I'm glad our guests felt relaxed & enjoyed themselves, that's what it's all about :) We would have missed so many things if it weren't for the staff guiding us through our day. We loved our day so much, we didn't want to go to bed (!!) and stayed up to see all our guests off and then Sharon (the manager) was kind enough to make my husband and I a lovely cup of tea... a lovely end to the day :)
It was a really magical day, the perfect venue for us and I can't thank the staff enough for everything they did behind the scenes.
I've got to say I was very impressed, It was perfect! We took up the 'wedding for a grand' offer and it was fantastic value for money. The food was superb, all homemade fresh vegetables, yorkshire, and the cream of vegetable soup was to die for!Sent on 14/02/2014
Sharon the organiser made sure everything ran smoothly. I didn't have to ask for anything she was completely on the ball, her service alone is worth the money! (Thank You Sharon) The resident DJ is very good got everybody up dancing and knew what to play to get everybody up dancing!
Would absolutley recommend to anybody on a budget, great venue. Perfect city centre position!
