The Oakwood at Ryther is a Family Run Wedding Venue based in Tadcaster, North Yorkshire. Once a generations-old family farm, Oakwood has been lovingly transformed into a breathtaking venue and the ideal place to celebrate your special day. Offering two stunning barns, luxury accommodation, and beautifully manicured grounds, every element of Oakwood has been specifically designed with your wedding in mind.
Facilities and Capacity
The Old Grain Barn’s original wooden beams and exposed brickwork have been carefully restored and now sit effortlessly with the contemporary luxe styling inside. Soft ceiling drapes are accentuated by statement chandeliers, adding modern elegance to the building’s rustic character. The grand central staircase, combining natural wood and sleek glass panels, leads to a luxurious cocktail lounge, overlooking the bar and the dancefloor. Comfortably seating up to 160 guests, the Old Grain Barn offers a truly unique backdrop, boasting the best of original rustic features paired with chic and stylish finishes. The Ceremony Hall is a breathtakingly grand space, featuring whalebone oak arches and a traditional stone floor. The Ceremony Hall’s church-like setting is the perfect background to your Wedding Day!
Accommodation
Sleeping up to 34 people, in 15 bedrooms, the venue's accommodation also boasts a huge open plan kitchen, dining area and living space within a beautiful glass and oak double-height extension. Modern luxury meets country chic and creates a wonderful space to enjoy time with family and friends over your special weekend.

My dream, fairytale wedding!
We were looked after and checked on constantly throughout the day and we knew they had everything in hand, leaving us nothing to worry about.
We were stressed about tablecloths as they were running late due to the flood water- they had spares just incase, the DJ was running late, again because of flood water- they played a playlist until he arrived, nothing was a problem was these guys. They were so easy going.
A special mention to Becky, Simon and Jessica whom made sure the day ran smoothly.
We are both really sad that the experience is over because Oakwood has been a dream for our wedding.
The venue of our dreams
We were never once stressed during our wedding planning or on the day, as we knew Jess & team had everything covered. They are a professional and friendly team who make you feel so welcome and valued from day 1.
Our guests were blown away by the Oakwood, with many telling us it was the best wedding they have ever attended, so you can't get much better feedback than that!
Honestly a 10/10 from us, we just wish we could do it all over again.
Perfect Venue for a Perfect Day!
We are so thankful that Simon was there, keeping things on time and interacting with guests. Our guests loved finding out more about the venue on the day from him.
Becky is a star! Nothing was ever too much hassle and she answered all our questions in the lead up to the wedding promptly. During the time we were on site she was on hand to deal with any last minute things that came up, liaise with our suppliers and keep the day moving on smoothly. She checked in with both of us throughout the wedding day, but she was never intrusive.
The rest of The Oakwood team from the bar staff to the cleaners were also polite and friendly to deal with.
The venue itself is stunning, and our guests continue to comment on how wonderful the buildings, interiors and setting was. We loved the on-site accommodation for our closest friends and family, which was spacious and clean. It felt like a home away from home for the time that we were there.
Thank you again to everyone at The Oakwood, we are still awe-struck by the perfection of the day! x
Perfect venue
I wish we could do it all again!
From the very first time we stepped foot in the oakwood at ryther we knew it was our venue!
Simply stunning. The barns are already elegantly styled so very little needs to be done. The entire venue has a relaxed feel yet still oozes luxury. Guests were absolutely blown away and enjoyed exploring the beautiful court yard/garden area.
The venue is perfectly sized so guests can roam around without loosing atmosphere!
The on-site accommodation is incredible, each room uniquely decorated feeling like a boutique hotel. It was so nice to be able to nip in and freshen up during the evening… just don’t sit down on the comfy beds as you might not want to get back up!!
Jess is nothing short of a miracle worker! We had a little wobble early on with timings of the day yet Jess manage to sort everything with no stress at all. Nothing is ever too much to ask!
Jess was always on hand to answer queries by email and we felt fully informed through the entire planning process.
It was so so lovely to see the venue multiple times in the buildup to the day through the wine tasting events and one-to-one meetings to run through everything.
Jess and the entire team were very attentive and made sure the day ran smoothly, we felt so confident in Jess’ ability we were able to relax and enjoy our wedding morning completely stress free.
The icing on the cake was the kind, personal touches for our tractor obsessed little boy! We can never thank you enough.
Ian and Janine have created the most wonderful venue, every detail is considered.
We really felt so welcome, we will never forget our wedding weekend!
