We had a lovely day overall and the team were very helpful and responsive in the lead up to our wedding. However, there were some really disappointing aspects to our day. We were embarrassed by the drinks reception, which was really badly organised- welcome drinks weren't ready in time for guests entering, there were not enough canapes served, and neither drinks nor canapes were circulated round the room. The package we'd paid for included certain drinks as the welcome drinks, and not all of these were actually made available on the day.
There were a couple of other hiccups- nothing major but just a lack of attention to detail. The potato we'd chosen at our menu tasting was swapped for a different one, we were referred to as "Mr and Mrs X" despite having requested not to be, and only half the amount of pizzas agreed were actually served in the evening.
We did still enjoy the day but we didn't consider the service 5*.

We had our wedding day here at the end of November and our day was everything we dreamed of and more!! Lexie and the rest of the team are great at what they do, our day ran so smoothly and the communication throughout the process was excellent. The venue is simply stunning and I have to mention how amazing the food here is too!

From the moment me and my now husband Chris first saw the Moat house we fell in love with it.

We got married on 17th October 2025. Our wedding day was nothing short of amazing. From the breakfast in the library in the morning to the party on the evening everything was just prefect. The venue is just beautiful.

Lexie was absolutely amazing so lovely and helpful, nothing was too much for her, she works so hard, she’s none stop running round working and making sure everyone is ok, she was a pleasure to meet up with and plan for our wedding. She is a credit to the Moat house.

The food on the day was gorgeous so many of our guest raved about how lovely it was.

We had our ceremony in the orangey and it was just beautiful, I’m so glad we chose it.

Over all I can honestly say it was the best day of our lives and I would recommend the venue to anyone to have this place as their wedding.

Our wedding day in the summer was truly perfect, our wedding coordinator Emily was absolutely incredible from start to finish, and without her we really wouldn’t have all the special memories forever. She truly is the definition of above and beyond!

From making a buttonhole for our pageboy when his didn’t turn up, to ensuring a round of shots were delivered at the perfect time to the groom and groomsmen.

The day was so well organised and ran perfectly. The food was incredible and to this day we still have guests saying that it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had!

We had the venue on exclusive hire and really recommend this, you can plan exactly what you like, when you like! Nothing was too much trouble and we felt super supported.

The communication on the run up to the wedding was great, they were so responsive to emails and accommodated all of our requests.

The food was incredible, all of our guests were blown away but the canapés, wedding breakfast and evening pizzas! Not to mention the full English breakfast!

My husband and I had the most incredible wedding day at The Moat House on Monday 27th October. From booking our wedding back in 2023, all the way through to checking out of the hotel the following morning, the wedding team were amazing. A special mention for Lexie, our on-the-day coordinator for helping to ensure the day ran smoothly!

We had the best day all thanks to the Wedding Team at The Moat House who went above and beyond to help our day go smoothly. The weather wasn’t kind but it didn’t matter as we had the lovely venue to have photos done so we didn’t have to stress or worry about what the weather was going to do. Lexie was our Master of Ceremonies and she was just fabulous and made sure we were where we needed to be and was always on hand if we needed her. Just brilliant can’t thank her and the Team enough. Oh and the food was amazing our guests were very happy and were very complimentary.

We had our wedding at this venue on 01/10/25. Our wedding was a small intimate ceremony. The ceremony was held in the library and the reception was in the Colin Lewis suite. Vanessa supported our party throughout with professional and dedication, we felt she cared about our day like we did. My partner, now husband stayed the night before and Vanessa was present to support where needed. Thank you Vanessa for a wonderful day. I would highly recommend this venue, the service and staff were wonderful.

We recently had our wedding at the Moat House and it truly was everything we dreamed of and more. From the very first meeting, the wedding team — especially Lexi and Emily — were absolutely fantastic, guiding us every step of the way and making sure every detail was taken care of.

The hotel itself is so elegant, surrounded by stunning scenery, with beautiful rooms for the ceremony, the wedding breakfast, and the evening celebrations. Everything flowed perfectly and felt effortless thanks to how well the team organised it.

Now the food… wow. I’m a huge foodie, and I can honestly say the food was Michelin-star quality. Every course was exceptional — it ended up being one of the absolute highlights of the day (don’t tell the wife! 😂).

From the little touches to the major details, the Moat House team had it all covered. The staff were professional, friendly, and incredibly accommodating, and the whole day felt like amazing value for money.

A few days after the wedding we even came back for lunch to enjoy the venue one last time, and the bar staff recognised us as the bride and groom — they even chatted with us about the wedding, which was such a thoughtful personal touch.

Both Sarah and I have so much love and affection for the Moat House, the management, the owners, and especially the support staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make the magic happen. This place will always hold a very special place in our hearts.

If you’re looking for a wedding venue — or simply a beautiful countryside retreat — we cannot recommend the Moat House highly enough. Truly a hidden gem in the heart of the Uk.

We had our day on 24/8/25 and it was perfect. Nothing was too much trouble for the team. Everything went exactly how we had planned and everyone went above and beyond to make sure of this (they made me feel like a celebrity). Cannot wait to recieve all of our photos back, as the views around the venue are just stunning. I would 100% reccomend having the venue "Exclusive" too. The Moat House is the perfect venue for what we wanted on our special day. It provided a range of opportunities for location for the ceremony which included our preference which was the little church opposite St James’s. Being a hotel allowed for guests and ourselves to stay over night and it delivers AA standard food which meant the wedding breakfast was better than you’d receive in your average venue. It also has ample picture opportunities in its beautiful grounds which you can visit again anytime you want to return and reminisce.
The service we received was exceptional and Emily and the wedding team were beyond amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and emails and phone calls are responded to straight away. They really can’t do enough to help and recommend any suppliers or ideas to make the day exactly what we wanted. Including creating bespoke flavours for our ice cream wagon and helping us set up a bouncy castle in the Acton Suite patio.

It has been almost a year to date since our wedding at The Moat House and we still see our wedding day as perfect. From start to finish, their professionalism and service shone above anything we had experienced elsewhere as a guest or had looked at as an option. Having multiple meetings with the team prior to run through how it would run, what choices we would like to make, how they would be supporting us on the day, attending open days and experiencing a tasting session of the food to help us make those important decisions was incredible service that they did with such ease.
Very importantly, the food! The choices you can make are fantastic and the food at The Moat House is generally excellent, but to serve 80 - 100 guests and to see every plate cleaned was an unusual sight at a wedding (from our experience). The evening food, we had wood fired pizzas, there was not a slice left!
To have a wedding 'package' that includes multiple rooms as standard was a wonderful relief to house our parents overnight too. We added on rooms the night before the wedding for the Bridal party with a meal booked in the restaurant the night before. We booked additional rooms in advance for other family members too on the night. The ease of it all was such a stress relief from something that is always known as being a 'stressful experience'. Lots of rooms available to your guests that are locked down for your wedding date for so many weeks leading up to it, gives all the choice to stay.
The morning of the wedding, to have multiple breakfast choices given to the Bridal party including hot drinks and juice was again fab.
The DJ who was part of our deal was brilliant, the music and choices he made were great and complimented our booked band perfectly. He kept the dance floor full and read the room perfectly.
It is a beautiful venue, with plenty of photo opportunities. The staff are super professional but helpful and think of everything you might need. They read the room, act on anything you need and help to keep everything working behind the scenes so you can enjoy your special day. Little touches like a drink waiting for you after the ceremony make your day so much special.
We are currently here for our anniversary, which as part of our wedding we were able to have a room overnight if we dined in the Orangery restaurant. Again, food was fantastic all plates wiped clean and they made a point of making it a special occasion.
It is a location that can hold plenty of guests, but still feels intimate and very special to you. We can't fault it or recommend it enough and really hope this helps anyone who is considering The Moat House for their big day.
