The Merchant's Yard is a sophisticated wedding venue nestled in Tideswell, Derbyshire. Begin your journey towards wedded bliss in this award-winning restaurant and boutique stay in the heart of the Peak District National Park. Facilities and Capacity
The restaurant at The Merchant's Yard is spread out over three floors, with space for all kinds of occasions. Boasting stone columns, stunning windows, and an enchanting courtyard, they can host up to 70 guests for a seated dinner and 120 for the dancing to follow. After the festivities, you and your new spouse are invited to spend your wedding night in one of their luxury bedrooms. Relax and bask in newlywed love in the comforts of a king-size bed, spacious ensuite bathroom, smart TV, and mini fridge. There are eight rooms available, so your nearest and dearest can enjoy the cosiness too. The following day, take the opportunity to discover local gems like Chatsworth House, amble around the quaint village, or take to nature and hike over the moors.

Perfect wedding venue
We couldn’t recommend The Merchants Yard highly enough! From start to finish, everything was absolutely perfect, and our wedding day was even better than we could have imagined.
A huge thank you to the entire team for making the day run so smoothly. Everyone was so helpful, attentive and professional, allowing us to relax and enjoy every moment knowing everything was taken care of.
The venue itself was absolutely beautiful and looked exactly how we’d hoped. The food was outstanding too – so many of our guests have commented on how incredible it was, and they’re still talking about it weeks later!
Thank you again to everyone at The Merchants Yard for helping to make our day so special. We have the most amazing memories and can’t wait to visit again in the future.

Outstanding place for our Wedding
We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect venue for our wedding.
From the moment we started planning to the day itself, the professionalism of every member of staff was exceptional. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and their flexibility and willingness to accommodate every little detail made the whole experience completely stress free.
The service throughout was outstanding, friendly, attentive and genuinely caring.
The venue itself is absolutely beautiful, with the perfect blend of rustic charm and elegance, creating the most amazing setting for our special day.
Everything exceeded our expectations, and we received so many compliments from our guests about the venue and the wonderful team. Jo and her team were absolutely outstanding.

Fantastic experience for our intimate May wedding
We got married at Merchants Yard in May 2026 and couldn’t have asked for a better venue for our small, intimate wedding.
From our very first enquiry through to the day itself, Jo was exceptional. She made the whole planning process feel straightforward, helping us with menus, offering ideas for decorations, and making sure everything came together exactly as we’d hoped. She even managed to source a Crémant for us (important as it has a special meaning for us), which was something we really appreciated.
We used the upstairs room, which was perfect for the size and atmosphere we wanted for us and our seven guests. It felt warm, relaxed and personal, and the team ensured everything ran smoothly throughout the day.
The food was excellent. Every course was beautifully prepared, but the chicken liver parfait, beef short rib and chocolate tart were particular highlights. Our guests were full of compliments about the meal.
We also stayed overnight and the rooms were spacious, comfortable and beautifully finished, making it a lovely way to end the day without having to rush off elsewhere, and nice to have breakfast in the morning. The lady who served breakfast was lovely and made us and our 12 month old feel very welcome!
Jo and team also arranged for Kirsty to arrive at around midday and check-in to our room early on the day of the wedding, great for being able to get ready and know it was only a 30 second walk to the ceremony!

The most perfect venue
From start to finish our experience was amazing. The most helpful and professional team you could ask for. Nothing was too much and they couldn’t have been anymore helpful. We had the most perfect day. The venue, food, accommodation and service were all brilliant. It was exactly what I had dreamed of and more ! Wish we could do it all again !

Amazing day
From the moment we went to look, we knew it was going to be amazing. Jo and the team are fantastic. Jo is the most organised person ever. We never had to worry about a thing. We had a planner sheet that was updated after each meeting. The attention to detail was incredible. Jo had it organised to the minute. The whole day ran so smoothly, we didn't have to think of a thing.
The waiting staff were so good, so smiley and happy. Jo had them organised for each table so everyone got their choice of meals so quick.
The food... insane. We got to go for a taster menu and we chose 3 dishes for each course. It was a tough choice. The chef and team are so talented. The food was the talk of the wedding.
The bar staff were amazing and were so cheerful and hard working.
Family stayed the night before and the night of the wedding which made it so relaxed. The rooms are beautiful.

You will not be disappointed.

Fantastic venue - perfect day!
From our first contact with them, Jo and the team at The Merchant's Yard were amazing. The venue is beautiful and having such stunning bedrooms on site is a huge bonus, not to mention the incredible food.
Nothing was too difficult for the staff and they helped to make our wedding day absolute perfection!
Jo and the team worked to our budget. There are different options on spaces within the venue to get married and a range of food menus. Because this is a restaurant, the food is exceptional. Everyone who attended our wedding said they thought the venue was perfect.
We used the downstairs restaurant for our ceremony and the upstairs dining room for a the meal afterwards. In the evening we moved the tables and made enough space to play music and dance, while the middle floor was then used for people to play games and chat.
The staff worked with us every step of the way and were in regular contact throughout the process. On the actual day the staff were so professional, helpful and friendly. Amazing venue with lots of flexibility
The venue was just perfect for us and Jo and the team worked with us to flex it to meet our needs. The space was turned from a sit down reception to accommodate our band and a dance floor and there was still loads of room to sit , including quiet areas. We had 80 guests plus a further 25 at night and we didn’t even use the second floor. The food was great and the drinks were reasonably priced. We had the whole venue including the accommodation and had a lovely breakfast with those staying over on the top floor.
Great service made this a great venue to have our wedding and many of our guests said it was the best they had ever been to 😁

We cannot recommend The Merchants Yard highly enough. They hosted our wedding, including the ceremony and meals, and everything was absolutely perfect from start to finish.
We had a very intimate private ceremony with just seven guests, and from the moment we arrived we were treated like absolute royalty. The team’s attention to detail, warmth, and professionalism were exceptional. Nothing felt too much trouble, and every aspect of the day was handled with genuine care and pride.
A special mention has to go to Jen, who mainly dealt with us throughout the planning and on the day itself. We genuinely cannot sing her praises enough. She was incredible from start to finish: calm, kind, attentive, and so organised. Jen made the entire process stress free and ensured everything ran seamlessly, allowing us to fully relax and enjoy our day.

Absolute perfection!!
My husband and I had our day here after having a nightmare with a previous venue and honestly I could not be more happy it happened. From the moment I met Jo and the team I felt so at ease and we fell in love with the venue. It’s so beautifully decorated! Jo worked with us to create our perfect day in our budget. She was in regular contact, so organised and made the whole process stress free.
She took charge of communicating with our suppliers so we didn’t have to stress about timelines.
