Nestled in the heart of Shakespeare’s country in Warwick, Warwickshire, the Lord Leycester is one of the most important medieval buildings in Europe. This stunning historical setting is the ideal location for a unique wedding ceremony and reception. The Lord Leycester offers exclusive use of the site for a range of wedding packages including Civil Ceremonies in the Guildhall or Gardens, Wedding Receptions in the Great Hall and additional spaces available for drinks receptions. You can also have a blessing in our 900-year-old chapel beneath a medieval chandelier.
Facilities and Capacity
Wedding ceremonies are held in the 700-year-old medieval Guildhall, seating up to 70 guests in this beautiful room surrounded by honey-coloured half-timbered walls and carved ceilings. Larger ceremonies can also be held in the 500-year-old Master’s Garden, a tranquil setting in the centre of Warwick with beautiful lawns that can seat up to 100 guests. The gardens are also available for drinks and canapés following your ceremony.
Wedding Breakfasts and Receptions are held in the Great Hall – a traditional medieval hall with abundant historical atmosphere. With capacity for 80, guests are seated beneath the ancient, beamed roof where Kings and Queens of old have previously banqueted. The Great Hall once hosted a three-day banquet for King James I and has a large seal commemorating this lavish event.
The Medieval Courtyard provides a stunning backdrop for drinks and canapés following your ceremony. With entry through a small, covered entrance, the courtyard opens as you are surrounded by the magnificent architecture on all sides. Spotlights in the courtyard enables the space to be used at night, highlighting the medieval buildings and adding to the atmosphere of your authentic historical wedding.
The Chapel of St James is an enchanting space for a private blessing. It is the oldest of the Lord Leycester buildings, built directly above the West Gate of Warwick in 1126 by the 2nd Norman Earl of Warwick. This stunning Chapel is overflowing with historic charm and authenticity. In the 1300’s the Chapel of St James was deconsecrated so unfortunately is not available for religious ceremonies.
Services Offered
The Lord Leycester currently works exclusively with their in-house catering team who can provide a full catering service for canapés, wedding breakfasts and receptions.
